This is great news, as an Oilers fan. Keep the medicore, choking, underachievers for another go next year! Maybe four straight first-round eliminations can become the 'drive for five'.

Choking in the playoffs is better than NOT making the playoffs..........Like Edmonton does......hahaha.........tuppe rware,ya got to make the playoffs before you can choke in them.......and guess what.....the oilers are not going to make the playoffs again this year.....

BTW - Last Alberta team to the Finals - Edmonton; Last Alberta team to win a Cup - Edmonton.

Playoffs ?non playoffs? If you dont even want a chance to succeed in the playoffs ,then keep missing them if you want......kind of stupid I think...Many cup winners in the past choked in previous playoffs before they attually won the cup....I.e nyi,edmonton...etc etc.... but you just keep missing the playoffs if it makes you happy.......heheheee

No, it doesn't make me happy. But if they are out for a couple of years to re-stock the cupboards for another legitimate shot at the Cup, then I can live with that unlike Calgary that gets in the playoffs and promptly proceeds to choke time and again.

Didnt Calgary go to the finals not long ago ?? And if I remember correctly they were a surprise to get there... You just never know who will get hot in the playoffs,do you ?? And Edmonton going to the finals last time was a big surprise for everyone that year including the oilers...I would rather make the playoffs every year because if your not in the playoffs you dont have a chance at winning the cup..
