Sorry I haven't been on. Work has been busy and taking care of my parents house has got me to tired to even come on the computer. You should see my in-box for e-mail.
So I see Stevens got a contract extention. I guess good for him, but I still think they should have waited until the end of the season to see how he does. I still remember the 10 game losing streak they had last year.I'm still suprised that he didn't get the boot.
As for my perdictions as to which teams make the playoffs. In order.
1. Montreal
2. Philadelphia
3. Tampa
4. Boston
5. Pittsburgh
6. New York Rangers
7. Carolina
8. New Jersey

Hey Red, I know what you mean about the maintenence work, with this wacky weather I've had to fit a weeks work in two days time before the rain storms hit again.
Glad to see we're on the same wavelength as far as Stevens is concerned, the extension does seem a bit premature.
I like the standings picks as well, I'd revise my opinion on the Pens after word of the Whitney surgery came out. I think that's going to hurt them a bit. It's tough to figure where the Rangers are going to end up as well, considering the many unknowns in their lineup.
I see you also haven't fallen under the Capitals spell, I think that Theodore move was a bad one, and they should have handled Kolzig with a bit more class.

I think the Caps will end up with the 7th or 8th place spot, and Carolina will win the division. I think Tampa has good offense, but their defense is suspect now that Dan Boyle is gone, and Mike Smith isn't the answer to their goaltending problems. I'm pretty sure they picked up Kolzig as a backup, to advise Smith, but I feel they're gonna be on the bubble for a playoff spot, and come in 9th or 10th place.

I think Tampa's offense is what gets them into the playoffs and the fact that Torts is gone behind the bench. I think their offense can win enough games for them.

hmmm intersting...i can see that because of them having Vinny Prospal, Lecavalier, and Martin St.Loius playing together, and then having Radim Vrbata, who is a solid talent, and Ryan Malone. I think Malone is going to be a bust though, just my opinion...since he's not playing with Malkin, i think he's going to only have around 20 goals. But who knows, they may decide to pair him with Lecavalier...but he has really good chemistry with Vinny Prospal and St.Loius. I'm not ready to make them a playoff team yet...i'll wait till the 30 game mark, cause i'm not sold on Melrose being their head coach. He's a good hockey analyst and he knows his stuff, but he hasn't been a coach in 12 years, so Tampa's taking a risk with him. I think they should have waited, and looked to get Ted Nolan, who would have been a better fit for the Bolts. We'll see what happens.

Trust me, Red Bandit, Dos Equis, and I have been at it with this tool(Dev) since July, 2007. And it will be continue for a while as long as he keeps posting. We made a bet with him that if the Flyers made the playoffs, then he couldn't post on this thread for 1 year(we meant judging comments as well, but I guess we didn't clarify that). He's probably got April 6th circled on his calender because that's when the Flyers clinched a playoff birth. He still has a looong time until he can post...i wonder what bullshit he'll have for us when he's able to come on.
I know that, it's just in the summer, i have a lot more to do so I don't hit this board as much. dev is and always be Dev. I found it funny that he can still get your fur up.

Pffft. It's made itself irrelevant(like it was ever relevant). Was the "judging" option even operating last April? I always thought it was a goofy option anyway, But it does give the less-than-intelligent an opportunity to add cutesy little pictures that usually don't correlate to the conversation (myself, I'd take "funny" as a compliment, but I doubt it knows the definition of the judge icons anyway)
Back to business: Stevens is signed for another two years.Personally, I think he very nearly coached his way out of a job last year with that late season tailspin, but maybe he'll benefit from more experience next year. Do I think he'll coach the Flyers to a cup? No. Thoughts?
PDG, where have you been all summer? I usually get more 'Canes news from you than the media, what the hey is going on down in Carolina? It seems awful quiet next to the weird and wacky Lightning and the ambitiously awful Panthers. Any status report?
I regret that I have to disagree with the Reds on the judging thing though. I can't help it, I just don't care. I know we had our fun and it was a cool ride, but we won. Hard. I don't care what it has to say, when it has to say it, or even if it's still alive by April. It's a popcorn fart in a windstorm, and should be treated as such.
I am curious as to whatever became of James (AOL). He had some good points and seemed a genuinely polite poster. Any of you seen or read him anywhere? And where is DMC? She's got to be at least a little satisfied with the Leafs moves.
Let me see, been traveling a lot and doing outdoor stuff, away from the computer. Working on increasing the power in my VW Fahrenheit.
Anyhow you guys did win, but like was said, but was their a judging comment when the bet was made. Dev likes to split hairs and to me a judgment is not a post. To each his own.

Carolina is sitting here, already crying on what to do if we don't make the playoffs. " WOW, we have such a hard first 10 games." La Di DA!!! What a bunch of worriers, whiners! We had to unload Cole, a fan favorite, because we were heavy on forwards and really, really weak on D. We picked up a few D that have the potential to help, but everyone is crying about Cole. Granted he was good and helped in the past, but it's a business and we needed to unload him when he was still worth $. Hurt two seasons in a row, a bad neck and who knows what this year would bring. If he went down the tubes, he'd be worth nothing. My only concern is goal tending now. Ward is ok, but I think of him the same as I do with Miller in Buffalo; a kid that had one good year and everyone throws all their goods in his basket, and leave us with a poor backup. It showed with both of them last year, that they can't play a top notch game day in and day out and without someone steady behind them, they are average.
So, we wait and see. I never get to excited until November, when things settle in a bit. then I'll be back regularly to bug you guys again!!!

DMC's been posting on the Leaf's site. If I remember correctly, it's been with Dev. She's a trip!

P.S. It can be either ROTF, ROTFLMAO, or ROTFLMFAO!!! ;P

Edmonton seems pretty pumped to start the season with Cole in the fold, and they're expected to do some damage this year.
Dead on for the comparison of Ward and Miller, I thought Miller was pretty good a few years ago but he didn't do much to impress last season, but Buffalo can be one of those weird teams who are hard to predict.
It'll be good to see the boys back in action come November, that's for sure. I'll look forward to your (occasionally antagonistic) posts when the ball gets rolling. Give a shout out to DMC if you chat with her in your travels.
BTW: Whats a VW fahrenheit?(my kids have been trying to address my "text illiteracy", hence the BTW)

Predictions...

Flyers finish Second in the Division, 4th Overall. Pittsburgh may have lost one offensive weapon, but they still have 2 of the best scorers in the game, a great goalie, and a good defense, which makes Fleury seem even better. They'll win the division by 4 or 5 points.

Remember, they also lost gritty Ryan Malone and his 27 goals, George Laraque, Jarko Ruutu, and Gary Roberts. So that is skill, leadership, grit, swagger, and peskiness out the window. But with the points you made, I can see the Pens winning the division again. But i think it's going to be by 1/2 points if they do.

I don't see the Pens winning the division. They had half their roster turned over, so they have to pretty much get through a quarter of the season getting used to playing with a bunch of new faces. Not only that, but in recent years the team that lost in the SCF has either not made the playoffs or finished in the middle of the pack for a playoff spot. Add their coach into the mix and I see them finishing behind the Flyers in the division.

2007 Limited edition VW Jetta. They made 1200 and mine is #912. 200 Hp, 2.0 Liter turbo engine. I've kicked her up to 275 Hp right now. Google the name and read about them. Sweet car for those of us who can't afford the BMW or Porsche.

Have fun guys and "I'LL BE BACH"!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Libra

If you live with other people you have to resign yourself to the fact that you all want to do different things today. The more you urge togetherness, the more everyone will be determined under tonight's Full Moon to do their own thing even if it creates problems. Try to play this down as much as possible because it's also a lunar eclipse and getting angry won't solve anything; it may even make the situation worse. Maybe this is a chance for you to do what you want for a change, too? Anyway, enjoy yourself tonight, Libra because you deserve it!
