If this was such an inherently offensive term, where was the outrage 40 years ago? Or two years, for that matter. I'd venture to say that even 50 years ago, if a team was called the Neeggeers, there would have been a huge outcry. Why have we allowed the hurtful name of Oklahoma, which means "red skinned people"? Whose word is Oklahoma?
This is nothing but grandstanding. If you don't like the name, don't support the team. Otherwise, shut up.
