Poll: Hines Ward the NFL's dirtiest player

A Sports Illustrated poll of 296 players shows his peers call Pittsburgh wide receiver Hines Ward the NFL's dirtiest player.

Once upon a time, they asked Jack Lambert about the league "protecting the Quarterbacks" & He said: "I think they oughta put 'em in dresses". Fast Forward 30+ years & we have Hines Ward saying "I'd rather get hit above the waist, versus getting hit below the waist & maybe they take-out my knee for the entire season, I'll pay the fine & not have that on my conscience." Apologies to the rest of the country, I think our country would be in much better state if we ALL applied that kind of thinking/action in our collective businesses. About the question, is Hines Ward the NFL's dirtiest player? NO, maybe it's a Western Pennsylvania thing, but when did we start playing touch football?

Yes, I'm a Steelers fan. I've seen every game since Hines was drafted. I've NEVER seen Hines make a dirty hit. NOT ONE. Did I tell you I was a Steelers fan? OK. If I wasn't, I probably wouldn't have seen every game Hines played in and couldn't make this statement. Hines Ward is a hitter. He'll knock your f**king teeth out. What he isn't is a rima donna wide receiver. We Steelers fans love that about him. At least he takes his TWO Super Bowl rings off before he punches you in the mouth. Now, isn't that nice?

I've never seen Hines Ward take a cheap shot at anyone. Is he an excellent blocker down the field?One of the best. It seems everyone who tries to tag him when he catches a pass for a 1st down attempts to put a (dirty) lick on him, but he gets up smiling. I see several players every Sunday who take cheap shots...Ward isn't one of them
