Is it just me, or does anyone else thing the most interesting part of that article was learning that Rocket Ismail is broadcasting rodeo events now?

What's up with that? I suppose Qadri "It's KAHDREE" Ismail will be covering curling next?

You want opulence? Who do you think you are some kind of royal dictator? There will be NO public money spent on a stupid sports stadium in this economy.

Have you seen the kinds of things they ARE spending our tax dollars on these days?

30 % of the people want to build a new stadium for the Vikes. Here is how to do it.

Every one of the for it can donate 14.00/yr for 30 years to Ziggy Wilf. Here's the numbers

1,500,000 people for it times 30 years time 14.00. Otherwise Ziggy can open his check book and buy it himself.

Funny how the pro stadium like to compare the stadium to other works. Lets compre it to the Guthrie. Both bring in the same amount of people. the Guthrie got 20 million. the Vikes own 40 million in back rent and get an estimated 5 million a year from shoppers at the MOA.
Sounds like the Vikes have the better deal. Lets give them 20 million and give the Guthrie the MOA naming rights.

They say a Vikings lottery would generate revenues of about $12 million/y.

The expected lottery revenues would need to surpass the annual payments to retire stadium bonds by at least 40% because lottery revenues would be considered unstable over time.

That means the Vikings lottery could support about $100 million of the stadium's cost... Plus who will back up those bonds since the chances a lottery would continue to support bond payments for 30 years is slimmer than actually winning the lottery?

Do you have a link to what 'they' said?
The Minnesota State lottery brought in revenues of 482 Million in 2009, and 118.2 million profit directly to state programs.

Now I can understand that the state may flinch at losing some of the state lottery proceeds directly to the Vikings effort, but why can't fans direct any of their gambling proceeds to what they enjoy, the NFL and the Vikings?
We are ALL paying for the arts and outdoors bill that somehow passed that increased our sales tax, so pay for my programs, but to hell with yours?
If we want the FANS to pay more than the general public for a new stadium, the lottery seems like a nice fit.
If people have a problem with pro sports, so be it, but many people actually enjoy the Vikings.

Just build the stadium it brings in new jobs, taxes. Or are we gonna do like when the North Stars left payed three time what the team was worth foe a expansion team and build them a new stadium. What do you think it will cost for a new team, and then be like the Cleveland Brown Losers. BUILD IT NOW

The $12 million/y would be from a Vikings dedicated lottery game. I read about it in an article about Gov. Pawlenty proposing lottery funding for part of a Vikings stadium.

The taxpayers didn't pay a dime to get the Wild here. The owners did. And the cost of the Xcel center was pocket change compared to what the Vikings are demanding. And the X provides a venue far beyond the Wild as events of the past weeks has proven.

Finally, how would getting a loser team be different from the Vikings we have now? What have they ever accomplished other than several crime waves and laughable on-field collapses?

The Vikings don't deserve a new stadium at taxpayers expense. I, for one, hope they move and will help them pack when they ultimately do. cause they ain't gettin a stadium.

Let's keep it simple. The Legislature get's off their dead cans. Enough already with, "Whoa is me what we gonna do about that motel porn, the tattoo/piercing parlors, and those nasty people with the audacity to smoke in their own cars?"
Get the racino thing done! With the revenue from that, added to what Zygi and the NFL kick in it could be a done deal. I don't go to Native American casino's. I would however, go to Canterbury and gamble, where at least any money I'd leave behind would go to the state and help keep the Vikings here. Remember 80% of the PEOPLE want it.
Just curious. I wonder how many of these so called, anti gambling Legislators got their brackets all filled in on time for the NCAA tournament? Isn't hypocrisy wonderful?

You're telling us that "Stadiums = Jobs"? We have built the Target Center, Target Field, The Dome, The Gopher Football Stadium, Excel Center.......we should be knee deep in jobs by now. But you are right in a sense. They will build it on the back of "creating jobs".

12 men in the huddle. A professional football team going for the last win needed to propel them to the Super Bowl had 12 men in the huddle.

Hey, we're talking about the Vikings here.

Finding new and creative ways to pee down their leg is what they do.

It's all they know.

A new stadium just gives them a grander stage to do it on.

The mere contemplation of using state funds in any form to build a stadium is insane. The state and the taxpayers cannot afford it.

Explain how a new stadium will help them win? If you want so much opulence donate a six figure check from your own checking account. Or quitcher your whining.
