Ndamukong Suh crashed his car into a tree in downtown Portland

Ndamukong Suh, a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions on suspension for two NFL games, crashed his car into a tree early Saturday morning in downtown Portland. Two women say they were injured in this accident.

Police say Suh was not impaired and was cooperative with officers after the accident at about 1:15 a.m. PT Saturday. Suh lost control of the 1970 Chevrolet Coupe he was driving, which then hit a curb, light pole, drinking fountain and tree. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says one woman reported bruises and soreness, and the other reported a cut to her forehead and a black eye. Their names were not released.

The second-year N FL player had two passengers in the vehicle. They were not injured.

Patrick Willis likely to sit Sunday with Grade II strain

Although San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh did not provide any details about Patrick Willis' MRI at the Monday morning press conference, some news is leaking out. Matt Maiocco reported that Patrick Willis' strained hamstring would not require surgery, but that he is expected to miss practice time and probably Sunday's game against theArizona Cardinals.

Willis, the heart of the team's top-ranked run defense, has 93 tackles, two sacks, a career-best four forced fumbles and an interception. In May 2010, he received a $50 million, five-year contract extension that takes him through the 2016 season and includes $29 million in guaranteed money. He earns $10 million per season.

Willis hurt his right hamstring in the first quarter while attempting a tackle on Rams fullback Brit Miller. After lying on the field for several minutes, Willis was helped to his feet and walked off under his own power. He spent the rest of the game standing on the sideline.

Hamstring strains have three grades, 1-3, with 3 being the most severe.

TheSan Francisco 49ers won’t be in a hurry to get him back on the field. If a hamstring strain doesn't heal all the way up, it can easily be aggravated. At the same time, it remains to be seen what exactly a "little time" means. We'll likely have to wait for the Week 15 practice participation reports before we have a better handle on his availability.

Ray Lewis misses practice itching to return from injury

Ray Lewis usually helps the Baltimore Ravens win by yelling in the huddle, setting the defense and chasing down the guy with the football.

Lately, the 12-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker has been forced to play the role of cheerleader and sideline coach.

And he’s getting pretty darn tired of it.

The 36-year-old Lewis has missed Baltimore’s past two games with an injured right toe. He was held out of practice Wednesday, but hopes to be back in action Sunday when the Ravens (8-3) face the Cleveland Browns (4-7).

Lewis seems to be somewhat optimistic that he can play this season — maybe even Sunday at Cleveland — but there are others in Baltimore who think that’s unlikely.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Lewis is “probably the guy that’s furthest away” among the Ravens’ injured players, and former teammate Jonathan Ogden, who was plagued by a toe injury late in his career, is urging Lewis not to rush back onto the field.

In three games without Lewis, the Baltimore Ravens held those teams to an average of 13.3 points. In nine games with him, Baltimore has allowed 16.9 points per game.

The Baltimore Ravens have used three undrafted players -- Dannell Ellerbe, Albert McClellan and Brendon Ayanbadejo -- to fill Lewis' spot.

We've seen this before, but this year, the tie-breaker is awarded to the Baltimore Ravens.
