Assuming we get comp picks for the free agents that left and their current pay...we should MAYBE get a 4th, definitely a 5th, and a possible 6th, but lets just assume we get another 7th after last years compensatory debacle. Here's who I'd like:

1. Rolando McClain - MLB - 6-4,248 - Alabama
Incredibly disruptive defender. Is always making plays. He has the extreme athleticism that rivals Timmons, but with better instincts. Couple him with Timmons, and you've got the most diverse and deadly set of linebackers the NFL has ever seen.

2. Jared Odrick - DT - 6-5,291 - Penn St.
Odrick has dominated the point of attack, even while constantly double teamed, and could push for a starting job in his first year.

3. Mike Johnson - G - 6-6,298 - Alabama
This is the kinda linemen I like. Not only is he big and nasty, but he's a smart lineman that knows when to hold the point, and when to push his assignment back into the secondary.

4a. Nate Allen - FS - 6-2,200 - S. Florida
I've always liked watching Nate Allen. He's not the fastest, but he's soo damn physical he remind me of a stockier Ryan Clark...with just as much speed.

4b. Perrish Cox - CB - 6-1,185 - Oklahoma St
Very impressed with this guy. He's a ballhawk. But he's surprised me how much more physical he is this year. Very impressed.

5a. Mikell Simpson - RB - 6-1,200 - Virginia
Runs a 4.4 40 at 6-1, 200 lbs. He could be that change of speed back that Willie can't be due to injury. I love Willie, but he's clearly lost a step.

5b. Luthur Brown - OLB - 6-3,235 - USC
Clearly a best player available pick here. He gets dwarfed by the other defensive talent at USC, but he is essential to their gameplan. He'll provide depth and possibly (one day), challenge for a starting role.

6. Barry Church - SS - 6-2,219 - Toledo
I LOVE this guy. As close as a man-crush as I'll ever have. He's not the fastest, most athletic guy out there. But he will let the hammer down and punish guys who catch over the middle.

7a. Lorenzo Washington - DT - 6-4,285 - Alabama
Possible 3-4 defensive end prospect. The best I've seen so far among those in draftable position here. A project...but worth the risk.

7b. Aaron Pettrey - K - 6-2,199 - Ohio State
Hey...I love Skippy. Not only is he clutch in big games, but his off-the-field antics entertain the hell outta me. However, it could be argued that Reed lost both of our losses for us this year. I don't believe that's true. But Tomlin and Colbert might want to make sure he has some competition. And this kicker is the best in the draft.

Wow. I haven't been paying much attention to draft prospects yet, but I have seen Odrick play, and I would love to see him available in the 2nd. Are you seeing him playing NT? A LB in the 1st? That's wild. The only question I'd have would be about taking only one OL, and maybe also spending a draft pick on a kicker.

NT, definitely. This draft is probably not as realistic as it could be. The fact of the matter is, we'll have a slew of offensive linemen to resign at the end of the year if a CBA is reached. We simply have to spend a good portion of the draft on linemen. I would make it an absolute necessity to pickup Ricardo McClain in the first tho. Move up some spots to grab him if necessary. We're not as stout against the run as we use to be, even with Aaron Smith in the lineup.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Gemini

Mercury will backtrack through your finances over the next few weeks, which isn't a very seasonal thought if you're already well aware that you've overspent this month. Be prepared to do some juggling or to seek expert advice if you're worried about how you're going to cope. You may be kept busy handling inheritance, tax or insurance matters, preparing investment analysis, and allocating funds for the repayment or collection of debts.
