Tomlin knows what the Steelers need

“I think [flexibility] is a great thing”

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was a bright-eyed, first-year head coach at the NFL Scouting Combine a year ago, but he didn't have a good feel for his team's strengths and weaknesses. via Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Season is about to start with the Giants and the Cowboys tonight and we hear the media screaming about replacements officials and the travesty that will take place until the the 'real' NFL refs are brought back.

My question being,'when did the NFL refs ever become good?' I have never watched a game where the refs have not missed calls, made incorrect calls, incorrectly overturned calls, incorrectly NOT overturned calls, made weird or incorrect explanations, and worst of all, been amazingly inconsistent from game to game and crew to crew.

Maybe these new refs will get an 'F'. I'm just saying an 'F' is not so bad when the best you are used to is a solid 'D'. Referees have always been the most unfortunate part of the game. That will continue. Atleast these guys right now have an excuse.

Word just came down the league action against the Saints players who were being paid to injure the oppsition is being voided by the courts. Unbelivable. How can the explicit terms of a union contract be voided when the terms do not violate and form of legal documentation?

Players that have been previously punished under the same exact terms of the contract should be furious. Teams that have been effected and fans that have seen their teams previously effected by having to adhere to the terms of the union contract should be livid.

Next question: If the explicit terms of a union contract can be nullified by an outside court with no legal standing, should not every person in the future that is not happy with the actions taken by managments everywhere be able to challenge the action in court even if no legal standing exists as well?

How can this not be slippery slope against union contracts? Agree to the terms and then when the contract is carried out, simply refuse to abide by the contract when the time comes by declaring you never would have followed the contact terms in the first place because you would simply challenge the contract when the time would come. Talk about being unethical. Players that accepted the previous suspensions because the NFLPA said they had no choice due to the contract terms should file suit against the NFLPA because of extremely poor representation.
