And the suspense builds. Will it be an O Lineman,WR,RB or DE? I say Ben gets his wish. WR James Hardy, 6' 6", 220 with hands that could catch a baby. 2nd choice Jonathon Stewart, RB, 235 who ran a 4.49 40! Wow! I look for them to address the O lineman rounds 2 & 3. Just my thoughts.

I think you might be right Bill. They will take the best player available. Are we the 16th pick? We may just end up with another wide reciever or RB!

Bill, I gotta be honest, its 'nice' to get any talented player, and if the Steelers were in the 14-2 or 2-14 areas where your in 'only need to tinker a little' or 'anything they can get' modes, best athlete is fine. But when you were 10-6, lost 4 of your last 5 (including playoffs), Lost your best offensive lineman on your worst off. line in years, and your best player and biggest investment stands behind those linemen, it dosen't matter how much you tighten up other areas. They can adress the OL problems throughout but I hope they don't think a 3 and a 6 will make all well.

Believe me Jopa-N I am very well aware of the O line needs. I posted those needs before pre-season when the forum was coming down on FWP. Fact is FWP for the last two seasons has gained most of his yards on his own. Hartings last year at center, because of injuries, was a struggle for him. Thats why he retired. I believe there were 40 somenthing sacks during his last season. However, in trying to read between the lines of what Colbert & Tomlin have said in the past and what they are now saying, I would'nt be surprised if they go for one of the two guys I mentioned above.

The Post Gazette stories are saying its 22, but I believe that is in error. By all accounts I have read we pick at 23.

I know it can work with say a 2 and a 4. I'm hoping that Colbert is going to play cat & Mouse so to speak up to the draft, where by the time the draft comes, nobody will know for sure who the Steelers want the most, or even that anything (trade up), is possible. Even trade down to early 2nd for an additional pick. I pray they don't take the WV FB in round 2. If he is there in round 3, maybe. You know what they say- "Ya don't tug on Superman's cape, Ya don't spit into the wind, Ya don't pull the mask off the old Long Ranger and ya don't take utility players high in the NFL draft!"

LOL! I agree. They are going to play their hand very close. No tips to anyone! This draft is DEEP in the type of players they need.
Guys I was hoping to fly under the radar are beginning to surface...Jordy Nelson & Ellis-Green.

I still think we can get Mike McGlynn in the 3rd round. I think he has more upside than Otah. Funny thing the Trib Review has included McGlynn a couple of times in their articles. Also keep in mind that ALL of the Steeler centers have been converted guards. Matthews, Webster, Dawson, Hartings and even Mahan. Oh well.

Owen "Superman" Schmitt did'nt do to well in his drills I hear. Maybe someone there was hiding some Kryptonite. LOL!!!

Yea, Samuel- CB, The Falcons are looking to shop around their corner, If Adams at OT dosen't get signed by the Cowboys- there are 3 players that if we could get one, would help this team tremendously. I would rather draft than sign a middle of the line FA at guard. I just don't think the staff is willing to go out and sign a difference maker in FAgency though. One that intrigues would be the FA wideout from the Cards. Dosen't break the bank and has major upside.

On the OT front in the draft, been hearing how deep it is. Problem is that a lot of teams in front of the Steelers are looking long and hard at OT as well. I already heard 3 teams ahead of the Steelers are looking at OT for this very reason with as many as 6 could be taken in the first round. That means with the 45 or 46th pick in the second round, we could be out of the top ten on OT. Flozell, Don't walk away, I was just joking with that first offer.

I forgot one BIG FA pick up would be Justin Smith.
Looks and plays like he's made for the Steelers system, and would be addition and subtraction- Adds to Steelers, Subtracts from Cincy- double whammy!

Thats the prob. The elite guys will be gone. Chris Williams may be there, but...
Look for them to start the O line rnds 2 & 3 still alot of great value. Now IF we do pick up a beast FA for the O line GREAT. Flozell would be awesome but I'm afraid much too pricey for the Steelers taste.
We still have Darnell Stapleton C, Jason Cappizi waiting in the wings too. They are'nt waitin for nothin.

It will be wait and see for sure, but if to many OT's get taken early- I thinking trading DOWN with Miami or the Rams to get an extra 2nd rounder plus an additional pick might be the way. Especially if they don't sign a major FA

I read an article, I think in the post-gazette it might have even been the one this thread is about, and they were saying basically what Bill is saying. They think the Steelers will pass on a first round OT and grab a DT or the best athelete available regardless of the position. Shoot we got it all figured out for them, of course that doesn't mean anything. When is the draft anyway April 22? Thats still weeks away. This is only going to get better.

BPA is where they'll go. They are not going to spend big $ on a O lineman they may have to wait for to start. D lineman too. Can't afford to wait. I see only 3 possible top DEs in this draft.

They will go WR or RB. Thats my gut feeling. Who knows...they do. I read today that they had a good intv. with James Hardy.

Like the sound of that "double down" approach. Remember Kimo Von O Hoffen????? Carson Palmer sure does !!!! Kimo played some very good Steeler FB.

No sh!t Bill, Kimo was a big time pickup. I like Kiesel and he is a great pass rusher but he doesn't stuff the run like Kimo. Joey's play dropped off after Kimo left...go figure he played right behind him. Play after play Kimo stuffed the line and drove them back. That dude was outstanding, still is. When we picked him up they thought he was on the downslide. Lineman can last a lot longer than most players, well into their thirties.
