Yeah Faith, if they don't find a way to stop the run, everything else breaks down. Offense doesn't get on the field, everyone gets discouraged, time of possession & field position kill you, etc. My vote is for Raji at #7. Best center and then receiver after that.

I'm with you there. This has been an issue for a long time and it's got to be addressed. Otherwise like the captain said, offense is kept off the field and defense is on the field longer and wears down, and everyone is discouraged. As long as opponents know that we can't stop the run, they will run all over us no matter who they have as a running back. It looks like we oughta take BJ Raji at #7 overall and in round 2 the strong safety from wake forest I believe his name is Chip Vaughn. The Raiders also seem interested in CB Alphonso Smith from wake forest as depth...

If we don't get Raji in round 1 other DTs that I like for later rounds are his counter part from college Ron Brace, Jarron Gilbert from San Jose State, Sammie Lee Hill from Stillman, Corvey Irvin from Georgia, Ricky Jean-Francois from LSU, Fili Moala from USC, and Dorrell Scott from Clemson.

Hey Faith, did you notice anything spectacular from WR Darius Passmore or S CJ Spillman both from Marshall? They both seem to have fairly high rankings for their positions.

All I know is that if our Raiders go in to this draft with that typical mentality of "Lets draft the best Player available" crap instead of "Lets draft a player that WE REALLY NEED", we are in for another long season.

PAssmore has speed and good hands...but he does get injured. When healthy he is a good WR not great...could see him being a solid #3 WR in the NFL...meaning #3 on a team not overall in the nfl. Spillman likes to hit people....and had a fair amount of tackles...not sure how he will do in the NFL...could go either way.

We do not need another Javon Walker. Why waste the pick on "If he stays Helathy." Draft what WE NEED PERIOD! This is why we have been struggling other than the fact we cant keep a coach for more than one full season.

i see what you are saying here but in reality , this year we need one in almost every position and the best player available could fall in almost every catigory.even a safety is a good pick for oakland!

Get ready for an amazing draft day. With all the excitement over OLinemen, the Raiders take a Defensive playmaker. For whatever reason everybody decided to stay away from Vilma. The Saints got a top flight MLB for a 4th rounder and we get half a season of crap for a 2nd rounder. So what next?

MLB Rey Maualuga. Say what you want about him, but you're putting him next to Morrison and Thomas and you've got yourself a little something special. The Ravens won a superbowl with Lewis, Boulware and Sharper. They ran the ball like madmen so fully expect Duke Robinson or Alex Mac to suit up for Tom Cable.

Cable looks like a badass, coaches like a badass, so expect more badasses on the Raiders. Nice cheap veteran badasses from the Cowboys Tank Johnson and Roy Williams. I swear the NFL's Thanksgiving day announcers are already writing their scripts. I know I know, but so what if Roy can't cover, Morrison and Howard cover like safeties so he's not as big a liability as on the Cowboys who have not one shutdown corner nor do they have a LB that can cover.

Also be ready to say hi to Chip Vaughn and Mohamed Massaquoi.

WHOA!!!...I'll bet that lowered his stock...I'd hate to have another Darrell Russell case...Great All Pro that gets in trouble with drugs and then can't make a comeback after all suspensions are served and then passing away in an acident a year or two later.

Warren Sapp had the same thing happen to him. He went from 1st or 2nd overall to Sam Wyche and the Bucs.

There were a couple of LBs from USC that were brought up but they got cleared. Pete Carroll jumped quickly to defend them after he heard about it. Supposedly this happens all the time at this time of year and if players failed drug tests at the combine, then they would've known 3 weeks ago and the LBs from USC were not notified. Plus the NFL stated that nobody has access to drug tests from the combine to be making such reports.
