With the departure of Jake Grove...we are now in need of a C. That has to be a huge hole to fill...not that Jake was great...but a C is the brains of the offense...they read whats coming...and relay to the line and QB. I great C and make a huge difference in wins and losses.
I think that becomes more improtant than WR

Yeah I'd say Center is our biggest need now...Cable said that he wanted to bring him back, but they didn't even try...

It becomes a need and it is fortunate that there seems to be guys in the draft to pick this year (Mack, Wood and Unger). Round 2 seems like the time to take a Center.

Thanks for the info...I don't know anything about those guys...
Do you think a rookie can handle that position right out of college?

It's not that unusual to have a top-level Center start as a rookie. It is more unusual for the Raiders to actually start rookies.

I think if either Mack or Unger (or both) are available at the start of round 2 then it may be worth trading up to get either.
Mack is a very well known quantity to the Raiders new O line coach and Unger can and has played any position along the line (which makes him preferable over Mack for me) but I'd be stoked to get either.

Unger is well liked by the "expert and he deserves the recognition. To me, Wood was very impressive at the Combine and can be included in the group.

I believe Pears has signed with the Raiders and they are looking at Fowler. I don't know much about either of the players.

If tickets are avialable. If not, then it is the TV. The tailgaiting is really good in South Bend.

The way it looks right now is the the Steelers will go with a Center with the last pick in the 1st round, they need to keep Big Ben upright and injury free, plus the rest of the team is stacked so they are just filling in some holes.

This would leave us with some opportunities because it is a very strong and deep class for offensive lineman. With Cable at the reins i think his main plan will be to build up the offensive line so it can dominate. Henderson showed off some skill towards the end of last year but even with him as a starter we are pretty thin at OT.

I hope that you are right Mike. I would like nothing more than to see the Raiders add some beasts to both lines in this draft. Run the ball, stop the run, everything else will follow. I like what I saw from the kid receivers when they finally got their chance. Shore up the trenches!

I read that Javon Walker has restructured his contract to a more cap friendly number for the next 2 years.
Maybe Davis & Cable have had a sit down chat with Walker to see where his head is at and maybe, just maybe Javon's going to work hard off season and come back fresh ready to give it a final go.
To be really fair, if the Raiders get some production out of him on a re-structured deal that will be some going and it might keep the spectre of T.O from the team.

Tell me about it Faith .. signing him will un-do all the previous good stuff.

I get the feeling Cable won't want him anyway and I also I get the feeling Al is buying in to where Cable is going (hopefully he said, still optimistic after the last couple of years .. lol) But I get a better feeling about Cable than I ever did with Kiffin.

I just want to see a great, measured and successfull draft this year. Please Oakland, get in some decent talent that will address the needs across the team.

It gives us reason to trade up for Alex Mack or the other good center in the draft. I kind of got a feeling that they wanted to draft a center and move Grove to RG but I think Miami was highly interested in him to play center and made an offer that Oakland couldn't match...But I'm still a Raider fan no matter who the players are.

Pears was on IR all of last year with an illness, but is only a 4 year player and experienced in the zone blocking scheme so I think he'll be a pretty good asset for us for a while.(I think John Clady replaced him).
