Oakland Raiders fullback Marcel Reece will replace Baltimore's Vonta Leach on the AFC's Pro Bowl roster after the Ravens earned a trip to the Super Bowl on Sunday.

It's still an honor to be elected to it because it's where the best of the best are all together. Being named a pro bowler is really something to be proud of.

RM you are right in essence that the game is boring, but Tex makes a good point that its an honor to be a part of the pro bowl because it shows that you are part of the best. However, I do believe sometimes popularity overrules the season's actual performance

i agree with T_RAIDER i just hate the fact of our players being replacements. but yes marcel reece deserves being there even as a replacement. better being selected as a replacement than none! i guess.
it looks god for the books, but not great when it is written that he replaced so and so!

I always thought the Pro-Bowl had to have a representative from every team?????? Did I miss something? Isn't that why the Raiders were usually sending a punter and/or kicker?

I agree 100%. The teams in the SB are already having substitutes for their players (which I agree with) so why not make it a real game instead of a backyard, touch-football game against your "cousin" or "sister"?

I haven't bothered to watch the Pro-Bowl in the last 4-5 years. I guess it doesn't matter to me if they "win or lose"...LOL. Golf has more contact.

they will pick up more ratings and more interest if they play for something of a value in the nfl. and, they have to play for real! and it's just like you said zild, the "game doesn't matter". so why not make it matter. i mean, what, they get something like 25thousand each for the winner or something like that? i never know if they get a trophy cause i never finish watching the boring friendly game. nobody wants to get injured in the vacation of hawaii. but even i don't have an opinion of what they need to add to make it real game. opinions? they already tried to move it within the season. that didn't work!

Baseball's all star game determines home field advantage for the world series. The superbowl is just about always played at a neutral site anyways so I don't think it really matters who has "Home field advantage". Plus baseball is the only sport that has a true home field advantage put into the game itself.

It pretty much all comes down to in my opinion that "It's an honor for the players, but a meaningless game for the fans." I think I'd be more into it if more Raiders were making it like I was in the 90s and early 2000s. All you can really do as fans is support the All Stars from your team, but when hardly any from your team are All Stars, the game doesn't mean much to you...especially if you thought certain players from your team had a more worthy season than players from other teams that made the squad ahead of them.
