There are 20 comments on the Times-Standard story from Mar 31, 2013, titled Kawakami: Oakland Raiders, Carson Palmer slowly breaking up. In it, Times-Standard reports that:

Awww, how sad. The Raiders want to shave down his $13 million salary, Palmer is resisting, and this all seems like it's headed to Palmer leaving the Raiders via trade or release unless some last-minute rapprochement is achieved.

here's an article for those of you who don't like carson palmer and for those of you who do!
okay, so we know carson palmer is the starter "as of today" still. he ranks 16th overall amongst all starting (qb's). not the best in the nfl but good enough to keep around. at least better than any free agent (qb) out there. wins can't come from him, by himself i say. for 4,018 yds and a RATING of 85.3 is not bad at all. but this (qb) like i say is not going to win it all by himself. gotta think of all those dropped passes that could have been gains. gotta think that a lot of those running routs from the (wr) were not always there. gotta know that the (qb) also needed juuuuust a little more protection out there. throwing for all those yds became amazing considering. threading the needle and constant passing without a (rb) can be tiring and lead to passing int's. okay, so you say, "yeah, but no wins". well okay, fair, but i gotta say, carson palmer is needed here. maybe not by you all who don't care for palmer, but this article is basically saying. carson palmer is needed here. if it's not for you or me or we, it's for them! REGGIE MCKENZIE AND DENNIS ALLEN. they have to produce wins and the way it looks with the (qb's) out there, i gotta say palmer is the safest bet! jobs are on the line here! last season was a throwaway. this season this org. NEEDS to win. that's why they are pressing for palmer to stay to the last second. palmer should leave. not so the gm or head coach get fired, but just to show, how much he was needed.

It seems to me that he doesn't want to be here. I like Matt Flynn to come in and compete with Pryor. I like Palmer but if he wants to go then so be it

With more and more articles popping up, it looks like there may be some truth to Palmer getting traded or released. I still think it's foolish but oh well. I would be very happy with Matt Flynn. I think he's the best one out there available.....and affordable.

As long as we're "rebuilding", we may as well bring in the QB of the future and let him grow with the team.

wouldn't it be nice if both Palmer and Flynn agreed to pay cuts and we got Flynn to complete for backup with Pryor?

{as long as I'm dreaming}

If Palmer wants out, why not try to work him in the trade to Seattle? Palmer can't seriously think Arizona is a SB contender. And Seattle could use a good veteran QB to help with their new rookie. And maybe Seattle could pick up some of Palmers contract.

WELL, enough of palmer. he's gone! let's talk matt flynn!
okay, so there isn't much to say. but what about terrele pryor? what happened to pryor (qb) of the future? all of the sudden he sucks?(lol). keep pretending palmer is gone. mmmmn flynn and pryor? okay, you know they are going to say they are going to battle for the starting job right? who wins? flynn already lost two starting jobs and pryor has never competed for a starting job really. flynn had two great starting games. pryor has been studying hard and had a decent game and a half which showed signs of possibility.
what about young? what about fitzpatrick? or that (qb) from the browns? who else is out there? maybeeee? geno smith or barkley? i don't know, flynn seems to be the better "starter" or maybe even t pryor. who knows?,
(LOL), BUT YOU GUYS ASKED FOR IT!(lol). i thought you were thinking about your future? fair to say you weren't thinking about the gm and the coaches? i'll tell you guys what? the coaches were thinking of their own future till the end. AND please don't say palmer does not want to be a RAIDER! or palmer wants out, or palmer does not want to be here. PALMER loves being here. PALMER wants out and palmer does not want to be here cause they are taking his well deserved earned money! like i said, that's fine, now try to win this season or next with your new future (qb)! i have nothing against flynn or pryor. i hope WHICHEVER wins the job, they surprize me and we keep on winning.
i'll tell ya, i'm a little concerned?! just a little.

Argh, well CP is basically gone, now they are just talking compensation i'm sure. Flynn should be OK, and I like Pryor as much as anyone, but i am quite concerned with our lack of a veteran QB. That guy that stands by the OC and gives advice to whoever is out on the field. Almost every young QB needs that. Given our 2 remaining QB's relatively glaring lack of experience, i am pretty concerned they won't be able to learn and operate at the proper level(it's why has-been's like Matt Hasselback are getting quality money to be backups).

I like Flynn--a lot. I think Palmer is EASILY the better QB but.......oh well.

Between TP and Flynn competing in camp, we should have a pretty decent QB for next season.

I'm concerned with the Raiders lack of experience at the the QB position as well, and was a Palmer backer until it became apparant he didn't want to be a Raider anymore. You don't want your starting QB stating that he would be ok with being a back-up elsewhere. Recent reports have him and the Raiders re-working his deal (8 million this year), before shipping him to Arizona. Bring on Flynn and let him compete with Pryor.

If one believes that the media's representation of Palmer was accurate then one must believe the media's representation of the Raider's position of "will not pay Palmer 13 million" is also true. The fact is the Raider media-grinding started months before Palmer made his comments. Palmer publicly stated that he was looking forward to returning as a Raider in the middle of the offseason. The Coach publicly stated that he was in a competition for the Starting QB job. Also, they did not even speak to him until recently per Carson Palmer and Lechler. Did their grinding cause the reaction? Did the lack of communication cause the reaction? Did the lack of respect cause the reaction? Did the lacking of retaining key-players cause the reaction? If someone says they do not want a QB who makes those comments, then why it is acceptable for a GM/HC/Organization to publicly and privately treat players the way they do/did?

Neither alleged style of communication would be ideal Freddy. Just unfortunate, if accurate. Both have their agendas, and winning football games (or not) will determine how they will be judged.

i've said it all along as well in so many different words. yea, i got hope but it does not look good! but i do got hope! this guy flynn better pull some kind of miracle like he did in his two games he performed. THAT'S where the 'hope comes from! there is no solid experience otherwise. and by RAIDERS GM and hc picking up m flynn, and not paying palmer his due contract? they took a giant risk for their own future. so, either flynn or pryor better pull that magic through cause not even the players we have hired look impressive. i don't know how much "patience" mark davis has, but he didn't show great patience the first season of the new era reggie mckenzie g-b-way. regardless, he and DA get another chance. T_RAIDER mentined a deserved chance of a GM getting 5yrs and a hc 3yrs. i believe that. i tend to like dennis allen but he will be the first to go if RAIDERS do another 4-12. 6-10 shows improvement yet not anything promising. and with these (qb's) that lack that experience, somebody better pull some kind of magic. and it probably better come from the (qb's-coach,(oc) and (ass-coach) all the way to up to DA. cause mckenzie ain't gonna be the first to go? if DA fails, sparano will take over. he will save mckenzie's job. because sparano has HC experience and will know who or what to hire. if that situation does not work well sparano's first year? good bye GM/RM! so, "new era", better hope for a miracle from one of these (qb's)!

If we go and win 4 or 5 games next year, yes, i expect RM and DA to be fired. But i don't think they should be. They completely ham stringed the organization by releasing most of our 1st round picks and replacing them with whoever. At this point i feel they need at least 4 years to do what they can. If we fire them halfway through there is literally nothing to hope for as some other coach and gm will come in and do the same thing, getting rid of all the veterans and drafting guys they like just so they can get fired too soon and so on and so forth.

yeah,(lol), after all those seasons, you don't know if to keep them or not! but i'd be juuuuuust a lil embarrassed. i'd probably still take the risk and replace them with whoever. freddy mentioned that this is where chucky might finally come in. don't know that that will ever happen again, but around here in RAIDER landia, it's like the second comming! but, they probably deserve all those years either to prove us RIGHT? or to prove us WRONG! it's jussst,, the agony!
