Sources: Davis is prepared to fire Kiffin before season's end

Full story: Marin Independent Journal

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In a conversation about Coach Lane Kiffin in mid-August, Raiders owner Al Davis said, "He's not the guy I hired." The endgame is coming soon, according to several front-office people, who ...

Why does this not surprise me....thanks Al. For turning the team I love into the laughing stock of the NFL!!! Players, Coaches, and the game have passed you by, a long time ago as a matter of fact. The Raiders will never regain their past glory (which is all Al does, live in the past) until this senile old man is gone one way or another.
Unfortunately with the luck of this team, will have about 20 more years of this crap. I'm sure Lane will go onto another team and beat us senseless for years to come like another Hall of Fame coach Al screwed in the past.

Al needs to be dragged out behind the barn! Would the league please step in and transfer power to Amy or some of the other shareholders!
He ran Gruden off now Kiffin, as I recall Kiffin wanted to make a Defensive Coordinator change, so that we can run a Tampa Two which our personnel favors. Yes, Lane is known for his offensive mindset as OC at USC but Al don't forget his Daddy knows a thing or two about defense as well. I think Lane can handle the decisions that need to be made. In one year under Kiffin we moved to a top 5 rushing team in the league, still not good enough for Big Al. For the love of GOD give Kiffin the oppertunity to manage the team as it needs to be Al! We will be crappy until this ol'bastard dies!

Someone slip something into Al's drink let him die peacefully. John Madden should own the team. I hope he does fire Kiffin and all the other coaches tell him to go to hell. no coaches for us. cancel all remaining games. i'll root for the Dolphins before i continue to root for the raiders.

If Davis doesn't know who he hired, then he needs to be removed of power from the NFL and force him to hire a GM. It's gonna take at least another year or two for them to get back to winning form and it won't happen as long as he keeps changing coaches...

Again with the un-named sources. Please, either find a credible source or quit printing this garbage. Un-named sources have incorrectly reported everything from Kiffin being given a letter to sign to his not being involved in decision making. None of which has been proved. Why keep quoting un-named sources, which have been proven unreliable? Perhaps this is just made up stuff from Steve to get his byline in the paper. Where did he get his journalism degree? Univerisity of Denver? San Diego State? Kansas State? Put up or shut up I say, and back our coach. He got us a win, and an improving team from the Art Shell days.

What are you talking about? Sarah Palin has not done more for this country(football) than any other (VP) owner in the league. Sarah Paline has not brought three war(SB's) victories to the USA. Big caompliment coming from you to compare Palin to Davis.

I really think the focus of this thread should be about our TEAM. 300 yards rushing, and D McFad gets first TD. Sacks and turnovers. Lets just get beyond Al Davis being crazy... Lane Kiffin is a good coach, the media are vultures and Davis is unorthodox. WE KNOW!!!!

Again, exactly. Not to mention Michael Bush's first TD and 90 yards rushing!

The players seem to think very high of Kiffin and one thing I would like to see is all of them go on strike (forfeiting all their games) until Kiffin is reinstated as head coach. If this happens, then I'll bet the NFL will step in and force him to hire a GM and force him to run the organization like all other franchises. This sounds extreme but Al Davis has crossed the line and is now the biggest distraction I have ever seen on a pro sports team. Bigger than guys like Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Keyshawn Johnson, Deion Sanders and even Dennis Rodman...(There's a bad boy I'll guarantee Davis would've signed if he played football).
