this guy should never be able to write an article again. his wording consistently contradicts itself, the "facts" are uneducated as the article is posted on April 1st and he's talking about things that have already happened like they haven't.basically this guy either gets it wrong or just points out the obvious. horrible read. booooooo. don't waste your time.

Bull poopy. Yes is the answer. Yes is the answer the second he fired Hue Jackson. Yes, he took over an 8-8 team a quarter of football away from the playoffs and turned us into a 4 win team. Yes he traded away or cut most of the players from that 4 win team to make more cap space.

And yes, i do believe we can be better. I believe Reggie has a plan, and is executing on it. Given a few years, i think Reggie can help build a much better team than the one he took over. I just don't agree with how many pieces he removed.

People really dont see just how jacked up this team was from 50 YEARS OF BEING DICTATED BY ONE MAN!! All respect to Al ,the man is a legend, but he really screwed this team in the end,and it caught up All those years of pushing money into the future,HORRIBLE DRAFTING,I mean come on the list goes on and on. And the guy that wrote this article needs to go fall down some stairs. RAIDERS FOREVER!!

We were 8-8 2 years in a row. Not a good team surely, but not that bad either.

Ok if this ends up being a 4 or god forbid less win season like last year, would you consider the hiring of a new coach? Or should OAK just pull a San Diego and wait it out and see WTF happens...God i miss Chucky.

most everyone is preaching PATIENCE, PATIENCE.
HUMMMPH!(LOL)
even i'm getting tired of talking about it!
it's obvious i don't like the direction of this team.
it's obvious i ain't content of the way this regime is doing things.
so, i guess i gotta be patient?
NOW, IF IT WAS UP TO ME? MCKENZIE AND ALLEN WOULDN'T BE HERE!
but,
anyways, it is what it is!
but? i do wish we were trying to compete and win right now! and not in what? 3 to five years?
and longer?
for the future?

well this year is going to be quite different than last as far as schemes go. no more greg knapp WHICH WILL BE AWESOME cause that means NO MORE ZONE BLOCKING. and sounds like we are looking at a 3-4 defense. i think you have to give DA at least two more years, especially since we're not looking at a big time quality personnel list this year. but btw, i miss chucky too.

Reggie is doing a great job. DA has to be given a chance. We had huge contracts for un-productive players, No draft picks, a QB that was past his prime and paying a fortune for, and the wrong personnel for packages. The players that have been signed this offseason are not names that grab your attention but they are role players much like your really good teams of the past like NE and GB. Flynn was a great trade to me because he is younger and can have the chance to grow. Palmer was too old to for a rebuild. Look at the draft from last year. RM drafted a great LB in Burris who will get better than he has already shown, Streater will be a very good WR, maybe even a #1 but a solid #2 right now. I know losing Myers hurts but did we even talk about Myers when we had Miller. Ausberry and Gordon can plug in and I think be fine. It takes time but finally after a decade the raiders are showing signs of a real NFL organization and I am all aboard. DA will be a good HC and we will be contenders in the near future.

This could go either way. I do believe Hugh was not right for the Raiders. I do believe we had athletes and not a team. And I do believe Reggie/Allen have a plan. The problem for some is, it will take a couple to three seasons to see the plan start to come together. So it will be easy to not look at the big picture and jump to conclusions and say they need to go. But here is what we are faced with. Be jumpy and unrealistic. Or be patient an no guarantee this works. But it could work very well. and just as easily could tank. I am gambling on patience and it working.

damn! i'm clueless!(lol).
you know?, today i heard andy reed say "we can work with the guys we have" and i think alex smith said,"this team wants to win now". think that team is going to be better than the RAIDERS this season? yyyyep! that team is rebuilding but they are rebuilding slowly. you know why? because they still want to compete! they got a new (hc) who understood that you don't get ridd off half your starters in one shot. and i doubt he will get ridd of the other half of their starters next season. AND i doubt he will get ridd of anybody just because they had ties to the nutty professor!
AND, they will still continue to build for the future! AND? to top it off they were 2-14 last season! what joy do you find in not competing two yrs in a row and still having to wait another three just to reach 8-8 without promise?

I like his business approach better because he's not overpaying players who are underperforming.

However, I don't like that he's not going after difference makers.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! "not overpaying players who are underperforming" were you guys confused and cheering for these guys before when we were 8-8? i can see if you meant one or two or even three players out of the whole team? but, what about the guys that mckenzie has brought in? guys that are underpaid and underperforming? and when he has plenty of money, he's still going to underpay? that's why wheeler left. he was that "diamond in the rough" that was hired by mckenzie and wouldn't pay him. players don't want to come here because they will be underpaid and this team has no "clear future". who was that (cb) that was going to come here newman i believe it was, was going to get paid more than what his team was offering him but he didn't take the job because this team is in disarray with no direction. how many guys other than wheeler have over achieved their performance to be a solid starter? everything can't just be a "diamond in the rough?" sometimes you gotta find acheivers that are worth a decent amount of money? he fired, and he hired enough (cb's) to pay for at LEASST one good player worth paying for. right now the best he's done and probably out of desperation for his job security, he picked up matt flynn and tracy porter. THAT'S IT! everything else was fired! if it smelled of al davis, it got fired! there is one or two that are hanging here by the hair of their chinny chin chin! but next year? GONE! if i was those guys, i'd seek trade! yes dmac, i'm talking about you. one of the last of the mohicans!

You can certainly read the frustration in these comments. Everybody still got the Al Davis mind frame,go out n blow money on big names,MONEY WE DONT HAVE!! Give it time yall, the setbacks, heartaches, and hate will pass. Who knows,we might've the "sleeper" team that does a lil something this year...you never know!!

Well,I am agreement that MAYBE we just needed a little tweaking, but one big obstacle was getting good players to come in..now with a new regime, and the way things have changed with this rebuilding,IMO it has to be seen thru now,if we fire mckensie & show where still unstable, well NEVER get anyone to come to Oakland...so as bad as its been the last decade,I sure hope mckensie gets 5/6 yrs before anything changes again,(which I think we got our man & won't need too)....

Agreed. I however, do think he is doing it the right way. He is making us stronger for years to come. Starting with cutting huge contracts. Given we haven't won a SB in decades, we needed a change. Is this the right change? Maybe maybe not. But my gut says we are on the right track.

I don't think that's what OG was saying. He seemed a bit frustrated i will grant you but hey, we all love this team and something would be remiss if we didn't get passionate in one direction or the other every once in a while.

Ya, given enough time, i think Reggie, DA and Tarvor can put something really good together. I just fear it will take too long and he will be fired and we will be left with half of a functioning machine.
