Yes alot of people have stumbled over the topic of signing ex-redskin Chris Cooley, but this should no longer be just a topic of discussion. The new Era of excellence in Oakland prides itself on dedicated players that just wants to win. Who better or more dedicated than Chris Cooley. He also comes from a historic franchise thats come across some hard times as of late. with his experience and the Grudge he must be carrying, he can easily be come Carson Palmer's failsafe. I'm hoping Reggie McKenzie & Dennis Allen sees things the way that I do. Tell me your thoughts Raider Nation.

I read yesterday that a couple weeks back Raiders were talking with Redskins about a trade for him. But it didn't happen, maybe they are looking at him again. I too think that would be a great pick up.(don't look now NJRaider...but we agree on something..lol)

Chris Cooley is much better than any of the TEs we currently have so there's no excuse not to sign him

OK Jersey, Here's a football situation...Offense drives down the field into the redzone and throws an INT. Defense then comes in and forces a 3 & out and they punt. Offense comes back out, drives down to the redzone and throws another INT...where do you think the problem is?

See texas the problem is ur talking in hypotheticals. & if ur talking bout the preseason game where a lineman caught the int, well u know like I know that wasn't Carson's fault. As for the 2nd int, we both know that wasn't his fault either so either way I don't see the logic behind uyt questioning. At the same time I can give u not a hypothetical but real instances where he did everything to win the game & thee defense couldn't get that 3& out u talking bout.

an INT to a lineman is almost always the QB's fault. At least half of Carson's INT's are not his fault but that one was.

Even the great QB's throw INT's sometimes. I don't expect Carson to be the best in the NFL. We can win a SB with the #1 QB in the league.....look at Eli Manning.

As everyday passes, it seems less likely we will sign cooley or any other TE. it is encouraging he hasn't signed yet...but still you think we would move quickly.

Zild I don't think u saw the game I saw cuz it was a screen pass & the RB was being held by 1 defensive lineman as the other lineman picked it off. That was clear as day, but we're dealing wit replacement refs & they didnt call it so how was that carson's fault. Does Carson have better command over the offense them say a tim brady no,, but the guy can throw a football thru a cheerio. Please explain how its his fault to me cuz I need to hear this 1

Jim Plunkett completed 52% of his career passes, passed for 25882 yards, 164 TDs and 198 INTs in 15 years with an 8-2 playoff record and TWO championships and never made the Pro bowl

Palmer has 25447 career passing yards, a 62% completion percentage, 167 TDs and 116 INTs in 8 years with an 0-2 playoff record and 2 Pro Bowls

If a Pro Bowl QB is what you long for then Palmer may be your guy. I long for the Championship...THE CHAMPIONSHIP. A Pro Bowl/future hall of fame QB won't get you one of those. The Miami Dolphins of the Dan Marino era are living proof of that, same with the Buffalo Bills of the Jim Kelly era.
QBs like Kenny Stabler, Jeff Hostetler, Trent Dilfer, and Brad Johnson and I'm sure there's a few more may never see the Hall of Fame, but they have what every player longs for and that is THE CHAMPIONSHIP

U can say that & I can say peyton manning had a stellar regular season record along wit playoffs until he finally won the whole thing so give carson his chance. I think he deserves that much & I argue that plunkett situation often & early to all raider haters. Lol!

& the statistics u put up there proves he isn't as bad as everybody says he is. All he needs is the team to play like a team & he'll be just fine.

Can't compare Plunkett to Palmer...different era different game. That is said not supporting or downing either QB...just not an apples to apples comparison...plus the talent they had was much different.
I don't like all the int's Palmer throughs, but i also think there is no point in judging him until we are knee deep in the season...it,will alk work itself out one way or another.

Peyton Manning's career is fairly similar to that of Raider legend Kenny Stabler; outstanding QB who's team contended nearly every year in the playoffs but seemed like forever to get to the big one.

I wasn't too thrilled about getting Rich Gannon, but he won my respect when the team rallied around him and we made a good playoff run. I'm giving Carson Palmer the same chance I gave Gannon. I gave the same chance to Kerry Collins and he blew it, as did Jamarcus Russell. Aaron Brooks, Josh McCown, Dante Culpepper, Andrew Walter, and Tui were never around long enough to really get a fair chance. RaiderNation is tired of losing and hopefully Palmer will become somebody that the rest of the team will rally around like they did with Gannon.

Yea it was a diff era, Plunkett played in a run 1st era, Palmer played his career in a very pass happy offense in cincy. That being said, I'm very bias on behalf of Palmer. Reason being i've seen over & over Carson get blamed for his receivers mistakes. The man has pin point accuracy, I mean pin point. & it's like everybody wants to put a leash on an arm like that. Nobody realizes he gives us the best chance to win & he performed very well lastyear under horrible circumstances yet he takes the blame for us not making the playoffs when it clearly was the horrid defense & more so the defensive play calling. I'm ready for monday night. I see big things out of Palmer this year.
