I cut this from Silver&Black.com interesting...
Russell still has a tendency to bird dog WR’s. He also needs more consistent mechanics, but there is no doubt his talent is immense. I don’t believe he should be the first pick in the draft. I rate him well behind Georgia Tech WR Calvin Johnson and Oklahoma RB Adrian Peterson, but he will be selected high. I am not sure if the Raiders should select a QB that high with their current OL, but I have a hard time believing they will pass on him. Personally, I would select Johnson and try to trade Randy Moss for a QB.

Good article. Hard to disagree with any of the logistics. I believe as well that the Raiders won't pass on Russell for his immense upside, and the fact that Al knows that he will put asses in the seats right now. Any thoughts on what kind of QB would be offered for Moss in the current market?

Moss for Carr...would be nice...If not It is tough to say, there aren't many left worth looking at...I still think a QB pick is wasted with out more improvements to our O-line...

O.K., so how about Moss for some O-line help, or a ham-on-rye?

O-line is our biggest need, I would rather fix the O-line and stick with Walter and Booty than draft a QB without fixing the O-line...If we got a ham-on-rye for Moss we would be getting the better end of the bargain.

I've always been on the defensive side of the ball, but everyone knows that everything starts with the O-line. My question to you, our resident O-line guru is, how much of our O-line debacle last year can be attributed to lack of talent vs. lack of coaching, offensive scheme, etc. Call me crazy, but I have a hard time believing that our talent pool is that shallow! Cheers!

I tend to think Capt. Canada is right, although I
don't know how to gauge the talent level at those
positions. They're going to have another system
to learn, but on the upside, the younger players
will be more seasoned. One thing that makes me
think that coaching was the dominant problem with
the offense is the seeming lack of the short pass
to take advantage of the balls-out rush.

That's why I am not the coach, that has to be determined internally. I can't say how much is coaching and how much is the players, but I do think that Gallery is replaceable, I think we screwed him by moving his position when he got to the pros, he never grasped it. I also think coaching, plays into it. But instinct is huge. O-Line is technically difficult, a ton of split second decisions(intstinct)...It will be interesting to see how we fare, I think Newberry's experience will be a huge asset. I also like that Kiffin is a players coach. He will listen, the O-line didn't seem to have that option last year.

That's right... You aren't the coach! LOL Here we go again. So, all the things you have been saying about fix the O-line, FIX THE O-LINE! Just got flushed down the toilet with those words "That's why I'm not the coach". C'mon RaiderFaith... You have to have an opinion about it. That's what the guy asked you! Obviously, Kiffin isn't very concerned about it or he would have addressed it a long ass time ago. So, that to me says that he thinks they are coachable. Which is a good sign. Now, the good news is... it can't get any worse from last year. So, we will definatly see a change for the good in the O-LINE with the same people as last year. Minus 1, and Add 1. We have a young group and with some experience from Newberry will be a great asset. Whoever we pick as the first pick will be under a much improved line from last year. Which will result in a few more wins. And take ALOT of pressure off the Defense, which I'm looking for them to be top 3 this year as well. Think about it. If they didn't spend so much time on the field to get tired. Better then top 5 they would have been!

are you dumb? seriuosly...are you Dumb? If you are not then stop representing yourself as such. None of us are the Coach and to say my argument went down the crapper proves only one thing...You are Dumb. No matter what any of us say we aren't the coach and we have to hope Kiffin knows what he is doing and makes the right decisions...I get the impression he is smarter than his years and that will serve us well. But no I can't say how much is coaching and how much is players...Aside from Moss and Porter the O-line is our Biggest problem.

The thing about Russell and Moss is that they will make you pay for blitzing. Draft Russell and keep Moss, that is what the Raiders will do. Moss is the way he is because of loosing and inadequate qb play. Trust me, get a qb like Russell and Moss will be ok.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Virgo

Someone is being headstrong and wilful, and absolutely determined to do what they want. Mercury is retrograde and it's a Full Moon in Cancer with a lunar eclipse all happening tonight! This could lead to some heated discussions and possibly even rows, as you argue the toss back and forth. It might be best to accept that there's very little possibility of reaching an agreement rather than to get locked in a stubborn battle of wills. Besides, you don't want anything to spoil what promises to be a very enjoyable New Year's Eve. Have fun!
