No to Smith because I think we are content with Palmer at QB.

No to Jones because of his neck. However, if he falls our way in round 3 I'd take him there

A single DT isn't gonna turn our defense around. We need an offensive lineman that can open holes more than a DT. IF the offensive line can effectively run block(the change from zone will help too) then the offense can play ball control, and Carson can cut down on his turnovers. Bam, 2,3 or 4 more wins just from better run blocking.

Can you see Shariff Floyd(or however you spell it) having that kind of impact? I cannot.

One man can never turn around a team...he can however influence the men around him to play at there top game. That game plan of yours MikeM is not a very thought out one. Palmer is no Gannon, meaning if our DEFENSE doesnt bulk up,were gonna get Doug Martined all day. Palmer always has been, and always will be a DBs best friend,a true pick six machine. Numbas dont lie.

And drafting for defense will be effective if we can avoid busts and we commit to it for 3 or 4 years in a row. But i am correct, improving our offensive line now is the easiest way to win more games.

I agree that a single DT won't turn our defense around; as a matter of fact, a DT can't turn any defense around...Warren Sapp was probably a rare exception in his younger days. For us, McGlockton really helped out but had Howie Long and Greg Townsend on the outside for a good chunk of his career before he became the dominant force of our DL. After he left, along came Rod Coleman who rotated in on passing downs to pretty much become a one man show.

I see Sharrif Floyd as a legit starter, but not worth the #3 overall pick. Luke Joeckel and Damontre Moore are the only players I feel confident in with the #3 overall pick and I don't see a player that other teams will want bad enough to want to trade up for. I think KC has their sights on Joeckel since they cut Winston and I think are looking to re-sign Brandon Albert so they will need somebody on the other side. I really don't see a single player this year in the draft that will completely turn a team around...Plus with out needs being so needy on the OL, DL, and CB I don't know which rout we will take in the draft or FA. I think McKenzie will see who he can get cheap as FAs and then go from there when the draft rolls around.
