I'd rather have Rodgers too. Who wouldn't as he's arguably the best QB in the league but you can't just say, assuming these numbers are correct that since SF is 6th and GB is 7th in take aways that is that and it just comes down to Rodgers or Kaep. There's so much more to it. Which defense leads in 3 and outs? Which team gives up less points? Take aways are nice but forcing 3 and outs is just as good as a take away and a real stat that matters is SF is #2 in points allowed while GB is 11th and SF is known for it's smothering and game changing defense while GB hasn't been known for anything notably defensive since Reggie if I'm not mistaken...GB is known for winning shootouts.
IF you take stock in numbers then SF being 25th in pass defense vs AR and their WR have to concern you.Keep in mind GB defense played much of the season without Woodson, more then a game or 2 w.o. Mathews and most of the season with a 3rd stringer who was thought to be out of position who now has some experience.Point is,this is a better defense then the 1st meeting we had together and our rookies like McMillian,House and some of the younger guys in a new position now have a season under their belts.GB has also run for 100 yard games more then a few times as of late,it wont light up a scoreboard but you now have to respect it to a point.NFL for RB is 4.1 per carry,,GB is 3.9 so its not quite there but again better then it was for the most part.Benson did quite a bit and no one else.Harris is doing a nice job, catching passes out of the backfield which Benson was doing quite as much or well,Grant is the same way and Alex Green coming back from injury hasnt played much with being concussed a few weeks ago and he should be back for a carry or 2.We will see how they do vs a very good run defense for sure but 25th in pass defense vs Rodgers,GB should score their share and if the Running game adds yards, that much help.

I heard a rumor Singletary might be the next coach for CHI
GOD PLEASE let this happen!!!!
I can see Singletary sending Cuntler to the showers in the 3rd quarter after a boneheaded INT

ps I'm not watching the clock, I'm letting you know what your name will be after this weekend

Personally, I think the 49ers and the Pack are going to be fighting over which NFC team gets to be slaughtered in the SB. Either the Pats or the Broncos can beat them.

It should have been Jeff Fisher...they just weren't smart enough to make the move, when he was available.....

listen to these meat pack fans - amazing remember slackers it is called a game, just keep it in perspective when Sunday comes and you can sit in your ice hut drinking old milwaukee and dreaming about # 4 Brett Favre in purple ( WHAT A SLAM )!!
eric wrote:
<quoted text>I agree SF is solid, the one thing i can point to is Rodgers is very mobile and can hopefully ( more times that not) buy that extra second or 2.
Jeremy does have a point.Rodgers is a SB winning qb and Colin hasnt been there and maybe that will play a small part.
SF can be healthy and ready to go being rested and GB a bit beatup from the extra game vs Minn..
OR
GB can be ready to roll,a bit beat up but playing and SF can come out a little rusty.
No one knows and if 1 team is playing to conservative because of a fear of turnovers ect, that plays a part and both teams have been there for the most part, but, again AR has won a SB Colin, its his first game,so maybe it makes that difference,Maybe not.I just hope GB can get an early jump, but, rest asured if GB wins the coin toss, they will elect to kick off and get the ball in the 2nd half,so, SF will get their chance to jump out to an early lead, IF GB forces a SF punt, then they get their chance to get out but stopping SF can gain them that early something..We shall see,i just dont see a complete blowout and i see a physical game by SF and if GB protects AR to the point he gets outside the pocket,he will put up the numbers, IF SF can keep AR inside the Tackles,it may end up being another NYG type result and a SF win as AR doesnt have the line to protect him all that long if he doesnt scramble and you can only throw so many short slants before a great defense like SF makes adjustments

@Eric-

Yea I agree, GB is looking good and they're healthier now. The first game with SF doesn't count, this is a whole new thing entirely and like I said, if AR is given 3+ seconds to find a receiver it will be a long day for my 9ers and will probably end with GB winning the game especially if it's a shootout.

What's your final score prediction?

Thats a good question..Ill go GB 31 SF 27.The Packers have enough WR and TE to put some up while AR is being pressured and prob. sacked 4 or 5 times and i beleive GB will produce enough pressure ( by Mathews) and maybe a vet. move by Woodson or the up and coming Casey Hayward or Sam Shields to come up with an INT or 2 and they can turn it into points.Points off of Turn overs may very well be the difference.

I'm going 31-23 SF. I think SF's D will stall GB enough with the bend but not break and force a few FG's.

I hope this game does not come down to whose FG kicker sucks the most.

Good luck this weekend you seem like a very reasonable fan! May the best team win, and if that doesn’t happen I will cheer for the 9ers in the NFC Championship :)

My prediction is 28 - 21 GB. No FGs allowed!

Haha thank you and good luck to you too. Yea I don't want FG's either especially deciding the outcome but it will remain part of the game to keep relevancy in the name "football".

Then you might as well plan on 31-14 SF because Mason Crosby is good for 3 misses or so.

Green Bays Defense was very much over looked in their Superbowl run 2 years ago, but that was primarily the reason they won. Their defense last year was much maligned and injured. Yes they gave up 400 yards to AP the first two meetings, but when the playoffs came around, they held AP to 99 yards, which is a major defense adjustment and attitude change. Matthews is much more rested and healthier than last year. Raji has played 30% less snaps this year, Woodson is fresh and a playoff veteran. I wouldn't under estimate this defense. I just think San Fran peaked earlier this year and they nearly blew the division to the hotter team entering the playoffs, Seattle. The loss of Justin Smith is a major blow to the Defense. Rodgers is in a zone right now. Even if San Fran can pressure him, he won't make the critical mistake. On the other hand, Green Bay will try to confuse Kaepernick all day long. Woodson back on D is a major boost to the Green Bay D. GB 24-17.

Good call! How true,GB was 15-1 last year but struggled abit.SF finished 11-4-1 but struggled at times in the end stretch. The Packers have done ok for themselves over the past month.Losing to Minn the last week was about their only step back the past month or so.
I can see much of what you said happening.Im not sure they lost Justin Smith did they? If he did play,he certainly wont play up to his level.Rodgers rarely makes the mistake,it happens as it will with all qbs but for the most part, nearly 40 TDs and less then 10 INT ( once again i might add) and AR could be the MVP again ( Manning prob wins it)but AR certainly has the numbers for it for sure! Adrian Peterson may have won it if Minn won and went further in the playoffs but he still may win comeback player of the year and i say MAYBE as Peyton Manning has a great shot at it and is prob favored to win the award
Question is,whats more impressive Peterson coming back from a major knee or Manning after a neck surgery(ies)both are incredible accomplishments and both should certainly be commended for a great comeback.unf. Adrian may be denied both awards but certainly should be considered.

Anyone else have a feeling, Jim Harbaugh with two weeks practice....has no intention of allowing his 49ers to lose this game?

Folks had that feeling about every team with 2 weeks to plan, but, fact is,teams after a bye week are 15-13 in their first playoff game.
Every SB champ since 05 have either lost their first playoff game the following year or missed the playoffs completely.
IT will be a tough one.If SF is rested and playing well out of the gate, they have a better then 50-50 chance of winning it.IF SF is rusty a bit and GB starts out quick and can score early and jump out early on them,GB has the upper hand.
Turnovers will be key as well and the team that can take advantage of them .
