The 49ers will open the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers, their most frequent postseason nemesis since San Francisco won its last Super Bowl 18 years ago behind Steve Young & Co.

Jermichael Finley sustained a hamstring injury in Saturday's playoff win over the Vikings, though coach Mike McCarthy doesn't believe it's serious.
He ended up playing just 38-of-66 offensive snaps. Finley's injury is the only one McCarthy reported on Sunday. His status for the Divisional Round game at San Francisco is up in the air.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Jordy Nelson's decreased snaps in Saturday's playoff win "just kind of unfolded that way based on personnel groups."
The Packers "wanted to be smart with his reps" after suffering a knee injury in the season finale. Nelson played 19-of-68 snaps compared to 38 for Randall Cobb, 49 for Greg Jennings, and 66 for James Jones. Nelson's work in practice this week will likely determine his playing time at San Francisco.

IT was smart to sit them down and cut some playing time.Nelson played a little after an injury,so to give him a bit to see what he can do and most important,to change things up,throw in a wrinkle and give someone a small rest,so yea,Nelson basically got his week or 2 off and hopefully he plays.
They also got more time off the week before as Minn is turf,so as we go to SF next Saturday, hopefully they are rested injury wise and maybe we see much more Crabtree and maybe Williams as well

wow, the meat packers beat the vikings. and they only gave up 500 yards rushing in 3 games - great defense ( not )!! the good news is that the 49 's are playing @ home, and the slackers are on the road !

get ready for the slacker feel sorry for me. Could not even beat the vikings to clinch home field, that will break these cry babies !

Go 49 ers !

how about that weak gb defense, Gore to pound the slackser just like peterson did over 3 games. It will be great to watch the slackers blame each other for the loss @ SF !

Pound the Packers like A.P. 99 yards, with 30 or so coming in the end of the game when it was basically over?
Yea,he got 500 yards in 3 games but lost when it counted. You may have fun if the Packer lose, but, at least we got there and we didnt get sent packing by our rivals, besides your laughing about being on the road, well, isnt that road the Packers took in 10 when they won the SB?

Ohhhh :( Thatís it little baby Vikings fan, let it all out... it's ok to cry when you are hurting so bad inside. You must be devastated the Vikings are finished for the year. Do you need a hug? It is only natural for a little snot nosed cry baby Viking fans to take that anger out on Packer fans, it is ok I don't mind and it is not the first time.

But remember in the end it is the Vikings that let you down and they are the source of your anger and sadness, not the Packers. Perhaps it is time for you grow up bit and stop projecting your anger at the Packer fans and direct it at the Vikings where it belongs? Or Just keep crying that is fun for me to watch! LOL!

This Packers team isn't like the one that won the SB recently but are still dangerous nonetheless. Anytime Rodgers is behind center they have a damn good shot. I'm a 9ers fan and this wont be an easy win for us. The Pack will be tough. The key will be getting to Rodgers early and often. If we can do that it will relive pressure on our secondary and should lead to a W.

Go 9ers!

Thats the thing. If they can get to Rodgers and there is a good chance they will get several sacks. If SF doesnt,AR will destroy SF secondary ( as would many qb in the league)Same goes for GB,if the can keep your qb in the pocket and not let him outside the tackles where he can really run and they stay their lanes and play Gore like they did Peterson,i like GB chances.ITs going to be a tough game for both sides and its anyones game.Good luck to you and good to hear from you as well.

I agree that if Rodgers is allowed 3 seconds or more he will tear up any defense in the NFL including SF's but there's not too many teams' QB that have bested SF's secondary. They have a pretty good defense. ;)

I just hope the moment isn't going to be too big for Colin. If he can stay poised I believe SF's D will keep GB one TD shy.

Best of luck to you too.

As far as defenses go...San Fran #6 give away take away, Green Bay #7. I would take my chances with a Superbowl winning QB playing at a high level versus a rookie in this kind of a game. This game will be too big for Kaepernick. Woodson will bait Kaepernick into a pick, which could be the difference in this great game.

I'd rather have Rodgers too. Who wouldn't as he's arguably the best QB in the league but you can't just say, assuming these numbers are correct that since SF is 6th and GB is 7th in take aways that is that and it just comes down to Rodgers or Kaep. There's so much more to it. Which defense leads in 3 and outs? Which team gives up less points? Take aways are nice but forcing 3 and outs is just as good as a take away and a real stat that matters is SF is #2 in points allowed while GB is 11th and SF is known for it's smothering and game changing defense while GB hasn't been known for anything notably defensive since Reggie if I'm not mistaken...GB is known for winning shootouts.

I agree SF is solid, the one thing i can point to is Rodgers is very mobile and can hopefully ( more times that not) buy that extra second or 2.
Jeremy does have a point.Rodgers is a SB winning qb and Colin hasnt been there and maybe that will play a small part.
SF can be healthy and ready to go being rested and GB a bit beatup from the extra game vs Minn..
OR
GB can be ready to roll,a bit beat up but playing and SF can come out a little rusty.
No one knows and if 1 team is playing to conservative because of a fear of turnovers ect, that plays a part and both teams have been there for the most part, but, again AR has won a SB Colin, its his first game,so maybe it makes that difference,Maybe not.I just hope GB can get an early jump, but, rest asured if GB wins the coin toss, they will elect to kick off and get the ball in the 2nd half,so, SF will get their chance to jump out to an early lead, IF GB forces a SF punt, then they get their chance to get out but stopping SF can gain them that early something..We shall see,i just dont see a complete blowout and i see a physical game by SF and if GB protects AR to the point he gets outside the pocket,he will put up the numbers, IF SF can keep AR inside the Tackles,it may end up being another NYG type result and a SF win as AR doesnt have the line to protect him all that long if he doesnt scramble and you can only throw so many short slants before a great defense like SF makes adjustments
