by thinking you know more about an nfl quarterbacks[brady]ability than hall of fame quarterbacks, superbowlwinning quarterbacks, mvp quarterbacks, who all have publicly stated that tom brady is a ''great'' qb,and in your dumb statement you say he is overrated, that's how.

Starting to think that the new spy cameras are overrated. They did not work tonight as Manning took over the 4th quarter and won.

Tom Brady is a HOF qb and is, clearly, one of the top 2 in the league, as his game against Indy showed. I, fully, expect the Pats to beat the Saints in a couple of weeks.

However, your characterization of Manning's resources and career is a little skewed.

I think everybody forgets that Manning was drafted #1 overall in the '98 draft by the Colts because they were the worst team in the NFL. The Colts went 3-13 with, near, the worst offense and defense in the league. The only bright spot on that '98 team was Marvin Harrison. The other starting receiver was Aaron Bailey. Ever heard of him? Marshall Faulk was the RB, but he only played that one season with Manning, and then was traded. In '99 the Colts drafted Edgerin James. Bailey was replaced by Jerome Pathon as the Colts'#2 receiver. Another no-name. Reggie Wayne wasn't drafted for another 2 years. In the meantime, the Colts defense was still one of the worse in the league. Through Peyton's first 3 years in the league, the defense gave up nearly 30 points a game.

It wasn't until the 2004 season that an average defense was established in Indy to take some the pressure off of Manning and the Colts' offense. Even then, the Colts lost many double-digit 4th quarter leads. Despite that, since Manning has been the figurehead for this team, they have only suffered through 2 losing seasons, and one was his rookie year on the worst team in the league.

Brady has never played on teams that bad, yet I keep hearing over and over again about how many rings Brady has, and how many Manning doesn't. Manning has played extremely well under the circumstances, just as Brady has. The one seperator here is defense. Had Manning had a defense comparable to the defense Brady has benefited from his entire career, I believe he would have just as many rings as Brady. Afterall, offenses wins fans, but defenses win championships.

Defenses win championships. A fact that can't be denied. The Colts are now 9-0. Will they run the table? Granted, they've whipped a few pansies the past few weeks, but it appears they're on their way to secure home field advantage.

They have a two game lead over the 7-2 Bengals and a full three game lead over four Patsies tied at 6-3 in the Chargers, Broncos, Patriots and Steelers.

This with Manning developing a new kiddie corps of receivers and a crippled defensive backfield. Would you say Peyton may yet win another MVP trophy?

Can't say I totally agree with everyone assessment of Belichick going for it on fourth down. If his receiver catches the ball cleanly, instead of bobbling it, the Pats win, and Bill is a genius. The Pats offense had been marching up and down the field ... and only two turnovers on the goal line prevented this from a blowout. On the other hand, Peyton had two long scoring drives in two minutes or less. Trust your offense or your defense?
On further review ... not such a clear cut bad decision. Gutsy call ... and Bill will be villified all week for it.

If Bill was a genius, they would have won the game. And who says Bill will be vilified? I'm sure Colt fans are loving him for being so stupid.

By the way, vilified is spelled with only one "L".

i think colts fans will have more to worry about than loving him for being stupid.from what i saw in last nights game, the colts defense against playoff caliber teams certainly leaves a lot to be desired.the colts had no business winning that game last night, just like the pats had no business winning that game against the ravens two years ago, both teams undefeated, both teams getting beneficial calls from the refs. that 31 yard pass inteference call against the patriots was hilarious, but that aside, brady and manning are awesome.

How much arrogance does it take to go for it in a situation like that? This will surely go down as one of the biggest blunders ever and could be the inspiration for a new catagory of highlight shows on the NFL Network.

"And the number one Bone Head Play Call of all time:

Bill Belichick's decision to go for it on his own 28 yard line..."

What was he thinking?

It's my guess that he didn't believe that the Pats defense could stop the Colts from scoring and took a gamble to run more time off the clock.
If it had worked he would have been considered a genius. But, it didn't work and the Colts scored anyway.
Which proves once again that Manning and the Colts are come back kings. But, I'm sure Belichick already knew that which is why he went for it and got burned.

I understand all that. It was a huge calculated risk since the Colts could have easily scored regardless with that much time remaining. But it's not like the Indy defense didn't know what was at stake, providing them with enough motivation to stop NE from getting the first. The Patriots faced a do or die situation, increasing the liklihood that something could go wrong with the added pressure. They would have stood a better chance had they punted and not let Manning take his sweet time with a short field. It's like Belichick was buying into his own hype or something, counting on his favorable success rate of going for it on 4th down. Who knows? They could win the Super Bowl just like any other contender at this point, so maybe it won't matter in the long run. They still covered the spread, though...

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are the two premier quarterbacks in the NFL today. Consider the respect the players on the teams have for these two. We need to sit bak and consider ourselves fortunate that we are living in the time when the NFL is loaded with such talent.

The season is only half over, but if I were to pick the MVP frontrunners today my list would look like this:

1. Peyton Manning
2. Drew Brees
3. Tom Brady
4. Adrian Peterson
5. Carson Palmer
6. Brett Favre
7. Stephen Jackson
8. Troy Polamalu
9. Robert Mathis/Dwight Freeney (toss-up)
10. Tony Romo

The frontrunner for Rookie of the Year has to be Percy Harvin.

Coach of the Year:
1. Josh McDaniels
2. Sherman Lewis
3. Brad Childress
4. Jim Caldwell
5. Sean Payton

The Colts were playing without 4 defensive starters, 2 of whom were replaced with rookies. Sanders, the former Defensive Player of the Year, will be lost for the season. He was replaced with Melvin Bullitt, the guy who stuffed Faulk on that 4th and 2. Not bad. Kelvin Hayden (CB) was replaced with Lacey (a rookie), and Tim Jennings, the worst cover corner in the league. Marlin Jackson (CB)was replaced with Jaurrod Powers, another rookie, who played very well. Tyjuan Hagler (LB) was replaced with Keiaho, a former starter, who, also, played very well.

Yes, the Colts gave up 34 points, but they also prevented another 14-21 by forcing turnovers, and remember, we're not talking about just any playoff team here. We're talking about Bill Bellichick, Tom Brady, and the Pats. You could, also, turn this around and say, the Pats defense against playoff caliber teams leaves a lot to be desired. They let Manning have his way, as the Colts scored 35 points.

.

Lets be honest. Do you really think the Colts wouldn't have driven the length of the field for a TD if that PI had NOT been called? Manning would have just thrown that same pass again, and again, and again, until they scored. The Pats defense could not stop him.

Conversely, if there had been 30 seconds, or more, left on the clock at the end, the Colts would have lost. Everyone knows Brady would have driven the Pats into FG range given enough time. That's just the way it goes.

.
but that aside, brady and manning are awesome.
I agree. The 2 best in the league, apologies to Brees.
