We all remember last year when it took forever for Frazier to pull out Donovan McNabb when it was painfully obvious he didn't have it anymore. Now here we are in the same situation with Ponder. Frazier says he needs to keep improving problem is Ponder is getting worse and Frazier is too nice of a guy to pull him out.

Pull him out in favor of who?

Webb is a QB/WR but does neither.

There is no veteran backup with 100 miles left in the tank. There is no hotshot rookie champing at the bit.

In the old days teams spent years grooming QBs.

Its only recently that 1st round QBs were overpaid and expected to win instantly.

I'm gonna have to agree with Harry on this one. Even if Ponder was totally the problem, we have no replacement.
I'm still thinking that WR, OL is more of a concern than QB.

I agree Webb is probably not the guy either but at this point I can't imagine him doing any worse than Ponder and why don't we have a decent back-up anyway?

Is Ponder a 1st round QB? I haven't seen enough of him to form an opinion. The stuff I have seen suggests he "might" be a 1st round QB. Give him time. You were all singing his praise early in the season

Like I said, the guy is getting worse. Personally I've seen enough of him.

At one time I thought he would develop into a decent but not great QB. However he has no guts. He refuses to stand in the pocket and take a hit to make a throw. He's gun shy and gets happy feet as soon as he makes his drop. He never looks off his receiver or find an outlet unless it's in his face. He's worse than any of the first year QB's and a lot worse than anyone else drafted from his class; except Gabbert. He only looks o.k. in garbage time when there is little pass rush and a lot of space in a prevent defense to find a receiver. A lot of blame has been laid at the feet of the WR's and the OL. Partially true but he looks so lost on any passing play that there appears little hope for him. Any decent QB from Buffalo, St. Louis, KC, Seatttle or any other .500 team would have this team at 8-4 based on AD's control of the clock. Really sad to see a future HoF player waste his talents on this pathetic QB.

If I didn't know any better I would say you were describing Tebow:
He only looks o.k. in garbage time when there is little pass rush and a lot of space in a prevent defense to find a receiver.

You must have labeled Tebow a bust back when everyone else did. Ponder actually appeared to have some hope, but he has regressed for whatever reason. His best throws come on quick developing plays, slants, quick outs, short curls, but when that is shut down, he really struggles. The accuracy on his long ball isn't scaring anyone, and our deep threats are Percy and AD, with AD not being a receiver and Percy out. When Percy comes back, we'll see if he can get it going again, but I'm thinking the NFL has figured him out and adjusted accordingly. Shut down the short stuff, and watch him self destruct.

No other QB to start that'd be an upgrade.

Exactly! Ponder can't seem to make an accurate throw past 10 yards. Scary is right!

Maybe Ponder needs to go to Nike eye camp.

I hate rash decisions, but only winning can salve this wound. Chicago is on the ropes, GB has Rodgers and receivers but that's it, and Detroit has morphed back into the old Detroit. Even with all this, we can't give our MVP candidate AD anything more than moral support.
I've watched B. Sanders suffer the same fate, along with most of Sweetness' career, and it's a shame.
Frazier is stubborn, and sticks with personnel and players longer than he should, at least that is his track record in my little world.
Speilman has done ok with certain position players, but when it comes to the most important position, he's swinging at pitches out of the strike zone consistently.
Zigmunt, you got your new stadium, now get us a QB to be proud of and to show off in that $999,999,999 monstrosity.

Same question, different thread:

Why have the Vikings SUCKED on the road for years?

Kramer, Wilson, Gannon, Favre, McNabb, Jackson, Johnson, and everyone else at QB has SUCKED on the road!

Daunte had some great games. But Tark was the guy who could get it done.

Ponder is just a guy on a team that has not won a meaningful road game since 1987!

Sooooo, the 1998 Viking team that beat GB on the road with Moss wasn't meaningful?
I beg to differ
Tark was great until it came to the Super Bowl, which was always on the road.

In a 15-1 season, no. Not meaningful.

If you can get to 10-6 and a playoff spot.......say 6-2 at home and 4-4 on the road.......

Ya still gotta win on the road.

Same question. WHY in the world can't they win a game on the road when they need to?

Problem is front office. Kalil? Big help, lol. I said at time to trade up for RG3 or trade way down and get a dt and ot. Also, need to force ball downfield. Box is stacked for Adrian. Insane ponder throws any dump offs.

I thought maybe fire Spielman and send a message down the ranks.

I had the wrong year Harry.
It was the 2004 Wild Card game at Lambeau.
The Vikings, went 8–8 during the regular season. Furthermore, they had stumbled into the post-season losing 7 of their last 10 games, the worst performance in NFL history by a playoff team in a final 10-game span. Two of their losses, by identical 34–31 scores, came in last-second games to the Packers.
But we went into Lambeau the underdog and put a whooping on the packers.
A Very Important Road Win if you ask me.
