A smart coach would sign Freeman then draft a QB next year. We don't have smart coaches.

If we did as I say 100 percent we would have our franchise QB. One of them would be good.

Cool idea. Then we'd have 3 backups, plus Webb.

Who let the lunny out....out out out out
who let the lunny out....out out out out

This coming from the guy that thought Tavaris Jackson was going to lead us to the Super Bowl.

1) Who are we going to release to make room?
2) What guarantee is there that he will work out?

Give Cassel a chance to take the helm and see what he can do first. If He flops (and very likely will), then we should have this discussion.

The truth of the matter is that I'd rather wait till next years draft that is to be QB rich and get a decent QB to train.

I've got an idea. Lets fire the entire football team and put it back together with nothing but Quarter Backs. So to have a 53 man roster with nothing but QBs. Then maybe his pixieness (aka Avant) will see that winning a game/division/conference and super bowl takes more than just a great QB.

A smart coach? Who are you equating to a smart coach? Certainly not Brad Childress? He could have had Drew Breese, but passed on him for Jackson.

Truth of the matter is, is that you wouldn't know a "smart-coach" if he bit you on the nose.

Edit your post than I will talk to you. I wonder if you know the difference between Childress and Drew Brees because you proved you don't know the difference between Jackson and Culpepper.

Please, Childress dumped Culpepper and picked up Jackson. Could have had Breese in a trade, but stuck with Jackson.

The Vikes can open up a roster spot for Freeman. Droping Webb would open a door for Freeman. I think Webb blocks pretty good. Webb made one nice block in the Steelers game. but other then that he isn't worth keeping to this point anyway. Webb hasn't proved he is worth a roster spot.

Pixie boy is for Freeman which confirms what everyone else knows that Freeman would be bad for the Vikings. The avant curse lives on.

Freeman might not be the best choice being the Cap hit the Vikes would take if they sign him. But then again look at the money their spending on Cassel now. I think if anyone would sign Freeman it would be for this year only with a option to resign depending on well he plays. Who's the better of the two Cassel or Freeman. Myself I would like to see more of Cassel.

I think that bringing in Freeman would be futile at best. How long before he learns the system, would he workout better than Cassell and does he even want to come to Minnesota are a few questions that need to be answered.

Furthermore If Ponder, Cassell, Webb and Thompson can't do the job. Maybe we should look further? Maybe its not the QBs we have, but the people training them that needs to be evaluated.
Or could it be the offensive system that we have in place isn't QB friendly (like the New York Jets system).

your thoughs.....uh just Stubby, I don't wanna hear the self anointed QB gurus point of view!

Craig Johnson is the quarterback coach for the Vikings. Johnson is the one that's helping Ponder develop. Bill Musgrave is the Offensive Coordinator & his game plan sits around Peterson. He is running a west cost offense that is QB friendly, Short to midrange throws. Ponder isn't perfoming them / Johnson is the coach to blame here not Musgrave. By now Ponder should know what each of his receivers routes are. Ponder should be able to make a blind throw knowing that his receiver will be there Like Brett Favre did many times. Ponder still is un-able to this: Johnson isn't a good quarterback coach.

I'm on record saying the O scheme sucks and Musgrave is a poor excuse of an OC. I watch Aaron Murray call audibles in Georgia-Tennessee game. College QBs can audible but Vikings QBs can't in the Muskrat system. Not only can't they audible the system isn't even really set up for a QB to check to a backup play or an option of the original play.

Looks like we've got Freeman. If I were Ponder or Cassell I would definitely be looking for a trade.
