My favorite coach ever is Bud Grant. Ponder isn't in the same area code as Fran Tarkenton and Joe Knapp as far as leadership, so quarterback play is a high question mark. If only the Vikes had drafted Russell Wilson who Frazier coached in a college all game, I would bet everything on the Vikings. That said, that's where the biggest improvement needs to take place, followed by the reciever a close second. Coach will make a Hugh difference in both these areas. Hags

QB play will be just fine now that the Vikes seem.....to have put the pieces in place for Ponder to have a chance to succeed..........u gotta remember that last year was his first full year in the NFL and he guided the Vikes to the playoffs with the worst WR corp in the league..........he threw the ball well in games he needed to and let AP do the grunt work the majority of the time..........in short managed the season game by game winning games with extremely poor skill position personnel.
With the O line back in tact and Felton again blocking for AP Jennings and Patterson should provide enuff downfield space for Ponder to extend plays and find open guys, use his feet to make play, and take 9-10 out the box for AP.
More space should now be created for Rudolph over the middle as well..........Vike fans have reason to be optomistic about the start of this season..........

BP!

Wait you just said Packers tackle Sherrod was a “failure” because of a fluke injury breaking both bones in his right leg in 2011, yet Childs blowing out both knees (not the 1st knee injury) shouldn’t be counted out???

Interesting.

Nooooo that isn’t wishful thinking is it? No that isn’t at all (Childs suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon injury in his right knee against Vanderbilt) If I were to say he was a quote you "failure" would I be an AHOLE? Probably! Right?

Im thinking we had a great draft this year Erie.So far Pattersons been looking pretty good in rookie mini camp. His speed shows.Rhodes and Floyd are beasts.I gotta say Ponder played pretty good also when we played the Bears and Packers at the end of the season.

I cant say with any certainty GBPmies but from the interview I watched at Vikings.com it sounds like Childs is getting pretty close to being able to come back.According to him hes doing all the drills a normal reciever does.Still working on his strenght.Youre welcome to watch it.They have Jennings talking up there also.

I've seen the video awhile ago and good for him if he makes it.

The fact is you called Sherrod a FAILURE for a fluke injury breaking both bones in his leg. ONLY AN AHOLE would do that. I never called Childs, AD, or EJ a FAILURE for their injuries did I? I wouldn't do it, that would be stupid! Don't try to make it sound that I did!

See what I am saying is you are a DBAG and an AHOLE for what you said and you try and hide from it. I have never said things like you said so don't put me in your AHOLE/DBAG group.

The only thing I am curious about regarding the X man is THE FACT that he wasn't very comfortable playing zone at FSU........HIS FORTE was press coverage..with Cook healthy I wonder how much coach will toy with his D schemes to accomodate Rhodes and Cook in man schemes or if in fact that Rhodes is just fine in the zone schemes and it wasn't all blown out of proportion on his resume..........any word on the Vikes picking up a FA MLB???

I hear the vikes to start with will use Rhodes in a nickle & press coverage because Rhodes is so physical in the bump and run.

Heading into in the draft, many expected the Vikings to take Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o in the first-round if he were to be available to them at either No. 23 or No. 25 overall. Not only did Minnesota pass on him with each of their two first-round picks, but they surprisingly traded back into round one and passed on him a third time when they drafted WR Cordarrelle Patterson.

The Vikings walked away from the draft with two linebackers in Gerald Hodges and Michael Mauti, but it appears as though they are prepared to give Erin Henderson the first shot at taking over as their starting middle linebacker.

Henderson told reporters on Wednesday that the Vikings coaching staff has informed him that they plan to have him open OTAs as their starting middle linebacker, per Tom Pelissaro.

Dan Wiederer of the Star Tribune writes that Henderson is the Vikings “most intriguing option” currently on their roster, but adds that 2012 seventh-round pick Audie Cole could be in the mix as well.

Despite the fact that there are still players in available in the free agent market like Brian Urlacher and Karlos Dansby, Wiederer believes the Vikings are unlikely to consider either player at this point in time.

Best coach hands down. I like hearing Grant say the vikings future looks bright.

Only my opinion but I dont see that happening unless some team releases somone I dont know about. What I see is a rotation of Henderson and Cole until and if Mauti is ready to go then the job goes to Mauti. If Cole or Henderson excel that could change.I dont think theyll bring in Urlacher.

Risky..........can Erin really handle that job..........hope so, still a lot of time left and moves to be made by other teams, roster cuts etc... we'll see. Maybe if Urlacher would come down in price the Vikes would take a look, the upside of having a guy like that on your team would be the knowledge he could pass off, not to mention the experience on the field.....As for using Rhodes the Vikes did play cover 3 last season, I noticed it early on especially......now with his addition Vikes should be playin' that scheme even more........
