From the Combine

12:01 p.m.- California WR DeSean Jackson measured in at a disappointing 5-foot-9, 167 pounds; Jackson was listed at 6-foot, 170-pounds at Cal. Jackson said that he has been training in Florida with former NFL great Jerry Rice. Jackson will run and fully participate in all drills this weekend

HAHAHAHAHA How is this guy going to do anything in the pros. There is no one that weight and size that has aever done anything. How do you shrink 3 inches from college to the combine lol!!!!!

^...and their is really need to start calling names? Keep prove'n how immature you are pal...

BACK ON THE TOPIC: Well thats just a sign that we shouldnt pick him up. I'm not sold on the guy anyway...after the Williamson situation I wouldnt pick a WR in the 1st round. Look at the Lions lol.

Im hesitant on getting a DE as well after Udeze (no disrespect) and James. But I'd go for a DE or CB in the draft.

Well you called that a couple days ago, didn't you?
With that size, he'd be jammed EVERY time he lined up and never get past the line of scrimage.

Hey what's a good link to updated Combine stuff?

hey bud, Steve Smith has about 20 lbs on Jackson, and he weighed 184 coming out of college. Get real pal, there is no way Jackson puts on 20 lbs and keeps his speed. He won't crack the 1st round and I wouldn't be surprised if he missed the 1st day.

ESPN is alright if you read the blogs

http://draftheadquarters.com/ is a decent site, but you mostly have to look around...

Hey man, small guys get bullied in the NFL but there are ways to get around size when at a position like Wide Receiver. Put the man in motion, put him on a stacked side, work off of the bubble screen, lots of things can work. I'm not saying that the Vikings should take a chance on him, but the kid has skill and there's no way he could have been that productive in college if he was a joke.

I have seen this kid for years out here in LA. He is very special and has been told since he was born that he would be too small to play at every level. When you can run sub 4.3, have a verticle jump of 40 inches, and can fake bigger, taller DB's out of their shorts, you can make things happen and he is a game changer. He battled a dislocated/broken thumb after the 3rd game this year (Try catching a pass with a broken thumb) and still was a threat every time he got the ball. Just remember that one out of 5 touches for him was a touchdown even with a QB who couldn't hot the side of a barn.

Yeah, and like Steve Smith he's got about 20 lbs on him. 20 lbs in the NFL is everything. Lee Evans from Buffalo has 30 lbs on him. If you are going to be small you have to have some bulk...

My challenge still stands. I challenge anyone to name one WR difference maker in the NFL with Jackson's measurables. He might be a fine KR/PR, but the only thing he'll be able to do on offense is bubble screens.

I would be afraid to watch if he ever went over the middle with guys like Laron Landry, Michael Huff, and Michael Griffin out there.

He would be horrible against the corners in the North. Al Harris, Charles Woodson, and Charles Tillman have 4 inches and 30 lbs on Jackson. He would never get off of the line!

He was a great College player, but college football is no where near the same as the NFL.

Ummmm.. Hate to burst your bubble, but at the combine Jackson didn't run a sub 4.3 (4.35) and he didn't even jump today. I'll guarantee you he doesn't have a 40 inch verticle (although he'd need it to compete for any jump ball).

He never faced press coverage in college which is why he could juke DBs. Just wait til he feels the NFL 5 yard contact rule.

BTW, Anoine Cason shut him down completely this year...

Jackson is worth a 3rd round pick as a KR, but not much more.

Jackson ran a 4.35 and he's the best open field runner for recievers coming out. As a running back a vertical isn't important. Yes Jackson is the man.

I just read a post where this guy said that a vertical isn't important as a running back and we're talking about a receiver. Isn't that stupid?

I'm not sure where you saw that but whoever said something that stupid shouldn't even be posting here. Maybe we should ban him, like avant.

First of all Jackson ran a 4.27 sec 40 at the combine and if you want an example of another elite undersized receiver how about Wes Welker who had more of an impact on the patriots than big bad Randy Moss. Also, someone mentioned Troy Williamson. Yea he hasn't developed yet, but he's still only 25 and has more talent than most receivers in the NFL all he needs is a mentor. I'm not even a Viking Fan. So I have no bias towards him. E-A-G-L-E-S

Dude, his official combine time was 4.35...

What don't you understand about 20 POUNDS HEAVIER. When you play football, 20 lbs is the difference between falling forward for the 1st and a concussion.

And Wes Welker wouldn't have had half of those catches if teams weren't double and triple teaming Randy Moss. And something about all time single season TD reception leader comes to mind about Randy Moss, while he's being DOUBLE and TRIPLE teamed. How's Donovan's soup taste?

We'll gladly take one of the Eagles draft picks for Troy. Any round will do.
