Minnesota Vikings' 2013 NFL Draft Wish List

If Minnesota were to draft Manti Te'o, it would go a long way to solidifying its interior defense.

Hey Kanfan, Im pretty sure you know you are just wasting time. The clueless one doesnt know enough about football to know that an OL has a different blocking scheme for a run play as opposed to a pass play, not to mention that a defense stacking the box to stop the run also has the advantage of that many more defensive players closer to the QB if his receivers have not had time (or are unable) to get open. I will say this, with the addition of Jennings and possibly a good receiver in the draft along with Wright and Rudolph, this will be Ponders year to "show it" or not. If you actually look at Ponders game tape, a lot of his passes that were completed were put right where they needed to be for his guy to get it. Not a lot of long bombs, though the 65 yarder to Jarius Wright was a thing of beauty, the potential is there, this is the year to see if it plays out.

<quoted text>LOL!! To be sure, I agree with you on Brown...6'2" is ideal. I hope our picks reflect need, not BPA. We don't need a TE or RB at this time. LB, WR and DT would be my preference....possibly 2 LBs...like Knott if he happens to fall into the 4th and we took a LB in rd 1. Might jump on Knott in rd 2 or 3 if we didn't address LB in rd 1.
yeah, love that Knott guy. I would be fine rd 2 wr, don't think we need to burn a 1 on a reach after getting Jennings. So, I'd see what's there in rd 1. DT, LB, i'd even think about safety - 2 outstanding safeties could be there. Lots of good safeties, we only have 1. If the value's there, I'd go Defense in rd 1 - prob wr rd 2, then back to d for rd 3 and even 4, maybe.

DT, S, WR, CB, ILB (knox) would be a solid first 4 picks. Then Ponder can win for us as a caretaker, you know?

You don't know the QB position I see. You are about the only so-called football fan that think Ponder is any good. Nobody on the NFL network has anything good to say about him. You have never picked a QB out of college who was good in the NFL. I do it every year.

Wow! Not only are you a legend in you're own mind, with no football knowledge, but you also have no reading comprehension! No where in my post does it say " I think Ponder is a good QB" MY jury is still out until I see him perform with a full receiving corp. Unlike you, who has wanted him to fail since the day he was drafted. I said the potential (that means something may or may not be there) is there and with a hopefully improved receiving corp, this will be the year to see it or not. Get it? Understand now? Well, like Kanfan and others who understand the NFL, Im sure Im wasting time. But it is fun checking in now and again to see if you have learned anything about the game of football, it has'nt happened yet! LOL, bye again for awhile!

Not too worried about Avant. I've been on and off this site for years so I know where he stands. Wish he wasn't so negative all the time, it gets old. In order to assess Ponder, first they must allow him to use play-action passes more often instead of just 3rd and long....when even dumb-ass me knows he has to pass. The 65 yarder to Wright that you mention is a perfect example.

Well, the problem is either musgrave or ponder or both. or receivers, i suppose. they claim now harvin would run whatever pattern he felt like. Jennings is a precise route runner, so we should see now.

The front line is better on running plays. Johnson & LoadHolt are great at run blocking. Loadholt is to slow to stop the speedy DE or LB. Because of loadholt size he gets a good push on run plays But his & johnson's pass blocking skills need a lot of work.

One more good lineman like what we drafted last year would be big!

Possible if the right 1 falls to us, otherwise, aint happening. LB, DT, WR, CB, in no particular order. I read where we would have to move up to about 17th to get a good guard....not this year, with all our holes on defense.

I am not all that sure the vikes go with a MLB, they did resinged Henderson to play MLB & they also have Auddie Cole 7th round pick last season. I am thnking if they pick one at all it would be in the later rounds like the fourth. I think the Vikings need to replace the loss of Winfield. this who I can see them picking in the first & second rounds CB WR DT. I think the top two CBs will be gone & the Vikes will target CB Desmond Trufant.

With Jennings signed I see Offensive line, CB, MLB, WR.

In about that order.

Or Taylor? Henderson is an OLB but could move inside. I could see using a 2nd or 3rd on LB Jake Knott if we go CB-WR.

I was thinking now that Jasper Brinkley is gone that Henderson would be the Vikes first choice to fill that need. The team has many needs come draft day & a major one is they got to get Ponder a weapon if they want to make a playoff run. The vikes play a Tampa 2 defense & you got to have a solid middle linebacker but what can you do when the team has other needs like WR, CB & Henderson can fill the need. I can see the vikings picking a MLB with there second round pick if they think Henderson is only good for two downs. maybe hold off on a DT to the third pick being their front line wasn't that bad. what they really need at DT is someone that can play a down or two as a fill in player.

Could be a smoke screen but the more I read it looks as if the Vikes go defense...CB, MLB in rd 1. The word is the there are plenty of WRs, with not much difference in talent to warrant a rd 1 pick. St looey has 2 picks before us and they lost most of their WRs...so there ya go. Trufant and Ogletree??

One thing is for sure is the vikes have very little money left & they still havn't asked Williams to cut his pay so if Williams wont cut it then the vikes have even less money & if thats the case I can see them trading away one of their first round picks. maybe it will to move down & get someone like WR Patterson, I know Spielman is pretty high on him & was at his pro day workout. I know its sounds nuts but they may not have the money to sign two first round picks & a second & third with two fourth round picks. so trading one away to move down may be their answer.

You didn't mention J Allen, that's where the money is tied up. We do have his replacement, meaning some leverage. Williams? Not so much but bring his money down also. Spielman says draft picks are money...I could see us drafting a player to replace a veteran and releasing that veteran. I think all options are on the table so yep, a trade is possible.
