Good deal for the Vikes, IMO.

Harvin, quite apart from his personal issues, had some injury problems....didn't want to be in Minnesota....and didn't want what they were willing to pay him. In addition he'd be a free agent after next season.

Given that AND his personal problems, getting rid of him for three draft choices, one a first-rounder, makes perfect sense.

Harvin didn't want to be a viking because the QB sucks. If we had a good QB he would still be with the vikings and so would Sidney Rice. Christian Ponder is killing the vikings receiving core. Good FA's won't sign with the vikings and we can't keep our star receivers as long as we have a tragedy at the QB position.

The Vikings played better when Harvin was out hurt. look at the Vikes stats in the last four games of the season. So do they really need harvin?

Without Harvin all we have is Peterson. I feel sorry for him they are going to wear him out.

Peterson will get over it. the vikes made him happy by re-signing FB Felton & RT Loadholt.

I'm not as sure about that. Good receivers make a QB better, not worse. And while Ponder's not setting any records, he's not terrible. I'd give him another year unless his production/turnovers really go in the crapper this season.

Harvin's a problem child. He doesn't get enough touches in Seattle, watch him start sobbing and having headaches again. Bottom line - he didn't want to be there, and the Vikes got decent value in return. That's OK with me.

A very good question. I don't think we need him in the locker room, given his attitude.

Harvin's contract with the Seahawks was a six year deal $67 million with 25 million guaranteed. Like always seattle over paid a viking player. isn't Harvin the fourth Viking player they signed now?

I suppose they'd say it's in line with the one Wallace got in Miami, but I'd say they're both overpaid.

The one that cracked me up was Seattle's acquisition of Jackson a couple years ago. ANYTHING they paid him was too much!

And how about their signing of Flynn as a free agent, only to have the kid from Wisconsin win the job?

They don't spend money that well up there...:)

Ponder's scouting report out of college said he is not accurate and he is injury prone. I was blown away he missed his only playoff game. Ponder has this year but one of my first 3 picks this year would be a QB. He can't let him hold us back.

Agree, and that the Vikes should try to get a good college QB to bring along.

Mel Kiper says Geno Smith E.J. Manuel and Matt Barkley are the top 3 QB's in that order. Smith is going in the top 10 Manuel and Barkley late first or 2nd round meaning we could get one of the two. Who would you take?

This is what Greg Cosell said about Barkley - NFL Films guru Greg Cosell told NFL Network's "Path To The Draft" that Barkley is a fourth-round talent being paraded around as a first- or second-round pick on draft boards.

He has Maluel second - Manuel, meanwhile, has ideal NFL size, he can wing it and his mobility is a separating quality. This quarterback group remains hazy, but it makes sense Manuel is starting to climb in the eyes of those who obsessively watch tape

Given his injury and performance at USC, I'd take Barkley last. I'd love to get Smith, but as you say he'd be the first one to go.
