I didn't like the Hopkins pick Picking a receiver so late I just dont like it. Why would Spielman say Ponder is our QB & then hold off to get someone like Hopkins that isn't any better then Simpson, I can't see Spie;man doing that. If the vikings hold off to the later rounds to get a receiver I don't see the passing game being any better then last season with Harvin & jenkins, how is that helping Ponder's passing game. The Vikings would have one key receiver (Jennings) like last season (Harvin) that the defenses would double team & the other receivers couldn't get open to save their life. I think its time the Vikes take a chance on a receiver in the first round & get over that fear of what happen with Troy Willianson, he wasn't the vikes only first round bust after all.

I agree that the vikings need defensives players But if a top DT isn't on the board I would hold off to the second round. I think the secondary needs work & they need a CB, LB, MLB, & like you say there are some good receivers but only a few that can be elite & thats why I say I wouldn't hold off to the later rounds to pick one. Child's is only a injury away from retirement I am not sure how much more his legs can take being hurt, they was in college & now last season & for sure he wont be on the field for every down because of it.

There are plenty of receivers to be had as deep as the 3rd and 4th rounds in this draft. Go after defense the first 3 picks and the get a couple of receivers. We don't have a proven quarterback to complete down field passes. Remember Victor Cruz the undrafted free agent every team in the NFL passed drafting. A lions share of are passing game falls on the coaches. That's why Harvin wanted out.

Harvin was first in receiving yards for the first 6 games last year then he got hurt. I know what reports has said about Harvin not liking Ponder as a QB but think about it Harvin was the leading receiver in passing yards in the NFL right up to the time he got hurt so why is the blame being put on Ponder like he wasn't getting Harvin the ball?

I think the vikings have got to take the risk that other teams has been taking on receivers on guys like A.J. Green, Michael Crabtree , Dez Bryant , & lets not forget Harvin a first round pick, these teams wouldn't have got these players if they wasn't willing to take a risk. the vikes front four played good last year so if the top 4 DT are gone I don't see the vikes taking one with their first two picks when there is other needs on the team that their not as good in like the secondary. The vikes have two top linbackers in Greenway & Henderson so that isn't a real need. The Vikes have got to get a replacement for Winfield so a CB is a must so is a MLB along with a WR , them are three main positions of need, Kevin Williams is 32 years old & his play isn't what it once was but the Vikes front four wasn't bad so if a key DT isn't there by the time the vikes pick, I can see the vikings going into the year with the front four they have now
