Viking stuff, Their talking about drafting Johnson

As it stands, the franchise lacks a “face”– the one player that can make a difference for the team and get fans excited. Johnson could be that person, much in the same way Randy Moss energized the fans. Suddenly, Tarvaris Jackson has someone to build his career around and the Vikings offense goes from boring to interesting.

If I was in the war room, I would offer the Bucs Option A – 1,990 value points vs. 1,800. According to the chart, the Bucs could more than justify the move to their fans. For the Vikings, it could be the move that turns the tide of fan apathy and ignites a spark that will carry over into the 2007 season.

It can be done. The only question facing the Vikings draft gurus is how big of a “value” are they willing to give the Buccaneers?

Trade up and get Johnson, that's the deal guys.

Terrible Idea, if we trade positions it should be down to fill all the holes in our team.

I think trading up would go something like this:

Birk to Jackson and "wham" Jackson takes another sack! Thats gonna hurt tommorrow!

why wouldnt any of you trade up to get johnson? i know we have holes but at least our offense wont be as bad as we thought and TJ now has that receiver we have to get to have any chance at all.CJ=moss without attitude and i loved moss.and trading down?where would that get us? we'd end up drafting these positions over and over again and just getting okay guys to fill the holes.take the best we can get thats all i have too say.

If you trade down, its usually for more picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. So we would be getting 1-first round; 2-second rounders; 2-third rounders and so on and so on. Instead of just 7 players drafted it would give us maybe 9 or 10.

That would help get us more players to fill more spots and seeing we didn't get anybody in free agency - hence, we need as many as we can get.

It takes skill and experience AND cooperation with other clubs to execute such a trade.........

The Vikes management team has all but three of these.

They're going to mess it up. Bad.

I'm all for trading up to get Johnson. He's the best player in this draft. I agree with you; now is the time to move up and make a big deal, Vike fans are in need of one.

How would you move up?Detroit wouldn't deal with us.

If you trade with Cle. then Tampa deals with Det.

Plus now is not the time..

Draft day after Det. selects would be the only window of opportunity and only with Cle.

Last year, Shanahan made the big move to get his QB.

Yes, I've mentioned this before.

The Vike's management is too slow on the draw for a draft day trade.

It'd have to be done soon to get in position. I suspect they will blow it.

Magnum has it right. We don't have the bodies or the extra picks to move up so the other option is more viable i.e. move down. The Vikings were trying to make this move at the meetings but so were a lot of other teams. I think most of the teams realise this is a very good draft year and want as many players as possible.

I can almost guarantee you that Minnesota will trade down if there are any takers. However I suspect thety won't get as much as they should for the #7 pick and might be lucky to get a third round this year and a third or fourth next year.

You shouldn't trade down more than 10 places if you want any value for your pick but I suspect they would trade as much as 15 spots if that was their only option and then pick Kalil, the center from USC.

They haven't finalized Birks contract and Kalil is great insurance. He could be moved to guard for a year or two and then back to center if they can't keep Birk.

The other option is to move down about 4 or 5 spots and take Brown who is regarded as the #2 Ol in the draft.

While they certainly need help on the Ol, there are a lot of good Ol available in the second round and moving down for an Ol is a wasted opportunity. I will be very pleasantly surprised if they move down and select a good LB or safety and use the extra picks on wr's and or a good QB like Edwards or Stanton.
