Rodgers isn't a rookie or even close. He knows the offense and gets plenty of work with his receivers in practice. Why put him out there and risk injury? What do you think the benefits are? Do you think the benefits would outweigh the risks? I don't! BTW the opening game is one of sixteen in the regular season. It's no more or less important than any other game. I don't want Packer coaches thinking in a shortsighted fashion. Besides, the offensive line will hopefully gel a bit more. Rodgers doesn't need to be used as target practice while the offensive line is being put together. In addition, I think the Packers wanted to give Harrell and Young some decent time. We KNOW who our starter is, it's the backup spot that needed to be decided.

Did you watch the game? I saw the Viking's starting QB play a lot. I have to admit, Christian Ponder looked pretty good against guys that won't be on the 49ers roster next week. ROFLMAO
BTW when are you going to start blaming Ponder's receivers? It's always their fault!
Well we all know we have some new recievers. We look better every week.Im more worried about Kevin Williams getting cheap shotted. At least we know that were better off if Cassle doesnt have to come in.

We all know where Harrell went.According to Donovan Mcnabb the Packers finish in third place and we sure dont plan on being fourth.Even without Peterson we did better against the 49ers than the Packers.lol

Other people aren't stupid like you. Everybody knows what it means to get slaughtered by the Colt McCoy led 49ers. Go ahead and tell yourself the Vikings did well. The ability to lie to yourself seems to be necessary to being a Viking fan. Hey, I hear the 49ers are shopping McCoy. Since you obviously think he's good, perhaps the Vikings can trade Ponder for McCoy!

Colt Mccoy played pretty good.At least Ponder had two touchdowns. When Ponder left the game we were 20-14 hardly getting blown out.One play into the third quarter plus Ponder was just getting a rhythm when he left.Ponder was 17/23 for 116 yards 5.0 avg,2tds--Cassel 3/10 for 28yds 2.8 avg so who lost the game?

Yep, he is ready to go,so, Let Harrell ( before he was released obviously) and Young fight it out for the 2 qb spot AND give Young more snaps to learn the playbook ect.AR ( im pretty sure) knows when hes ready.

If I were you (thank god I am not) I would stick to worrying about the vikes CBs.
-Cook has never completed a full season in 3 years nor has he had an INT in those 3 years, not 1 INT in 3 yrs.
-Then a rookie who might be good, but expect growing pains.
-Robinson is going to play slot. He has never played slot before, never. Yikes. He will replace Winfield who played in about 90% of the vikings snaps last yr and was as good as they come against the run. Is Robinson? Not at all from what I hear.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7454/josh...
ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Vikings are concerned about Josh Robinson's transition to nickel cornerback.Succeeding Antoine Winfield in the slot, Robinson has struggled early in camp and profiles as a liability against the run. "Josh has never been inside before, so it's a big transition," DC Alan Williams said. "He's going to make mistakes." Even if Robinson continues to struggle, he's locked into the nickel job because the Vikings lack compelling alternatives. Aug 3 - 8:39 PM
The Packers probably will have to cut 1 of their CBs, I expect the vikings to try and sign who ever that is or another cut player form another team.
Learning is fun if you are willilng to learn.

I wrote this about a week ago I think. I watched all of the first half of vikings 49ers game.

The main thing that stuck out to me was CB Robinson getting abused over and over. He got beat like he stoled something. Did anybody else see that? His tackling was pretty poor too on some running plays. I think Winfield will be missed more than some want to admit.

The 49ers may be crunching QBs all season. I don't know if you noticed, but the 49ers have a good defense. Do you think that Aaron Rodgers can keep the 49er defense off of him IF he plays a little more in the preseason? I don't think it works that way. But thanks for your concern about the Packers.

There seem to be some Viking fans (the stupid ones) that think people are "knocking" Ponder when the truth is spoken about him. They aren't smart enough to know that the truth isn't always GREAT. Especially the truth about Ponder. The solution for Ponder getting "knocked" is simple. He needs to play better.

Actually the same goes for ezg/viking nation. He brought it on himself with the ridiculous lies and creating a female identity to compliment and brag about himself. The difference between ezg and Ponder is that Christian Ponder can fix his flaws. Pretending to be a wouded war hero isn't the kind of thing that can be fixed with more lies, like viking nation/ezg is trying to do.

Hold on. Haven't you heard? There was a good reason. Viking fans say that Colt McCoy and the 49ers third string receivers are REALLY good! ROFLMAO

Why,because hes getting plenty of throws in practice so rest the arm for the season and it gives all the backups snaps for the competition, its a very smart move and quite frankly if a SuperBowl champion qb and an NFL MVP can get ready playing a bit in preseason and snaps in camp and says hes ready,i would tend to take his work for it.
