ESPN's Draft wrap-up. Move questionable move in the draft. VIKINGS Harrison Smith. They say he's too slow and can't cover.

Mel Kiper give the vikings a B.

Herm Edwards called Harrison Smith a BOX safety.(very limited)

MCshay said Kalil was a good pick.

All the host including me think Childs is intriguing.

Jarius Wright has some promise.

Minnesota Vikings: You can dock Minnesota if you think Claiborne should have been the pick at 4 over OT Matt Kalil. I think the Vikings did the right thing, and their subsequent pickups of S Harrison Smith (29), CB Josh Robinson (66) and WR Jarius Wright (118) just add to that belief. Grade: A

Czar's team-by-team NFL Draft grades

General manager Rick Spielman did an impressive job getting extra picks for his top spot and still ended up with tackle Matt Kalil. The USC lineman fills a huge need at left tackle because Christian Ponder was pummeled last season.... They moved back into the bottom of the first round to land Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith, considered by many as the second-best safety behind Alabama's Mark Barron.... Sticking with Golden Domers, cornerback Robert Blanton has the ability to shift to safety and deal with the bigger tight ends popping up around the NFL.... USC's Rhett Ellison, son of ex-Raider Riki Ellison, is a tremendous blocking tight end. He's also a big target in the red zone.... In the late rounds, Greg Childs of Arkansas is a big-body receiver with decent speed.... Georgia kicker Blair Walsh has value, averaging 4.4 hang time on his kickoffs and converting 76.25 of his field goals over his final three seasons. But what does Walsh mean for Ryan Longwell?... Inside linebacker Audie Cole of North Carolina State has very limited range. Grade: B-

Minnesota Vikings (B)
Key picks: T Matt Kalil, S Harrison Smith, CB Josh Robinson.

They knew what their weaknesses were, but Kalil came at the expense of missing out on Claiborne to help their secondary.

Best pick: I love that they stayed true to what they wanted and picked tackle Matt Kalil and added picks in a trade down to do it. Kalil is a 10-year starter.

Questionable move: Using a fourth-round pick on a fullback isn't wise. They took Southern California's Rhett Ellison to be a lead blocker. That's a waste of a good pick.

Third-day gem: Fourth-round receiver Jairus Wright is a good slot receiver who will help add some quickness to a passing game that needs it.

Analysis: Rick Spielman did a nice job trading back, landing extra picks and still getting Kalil. They then came back into the first round to take a starting safety in Harrison Smith in a year where that position was lean. Good job.

Grade: B+

Top Pick Analysis: General manager Rick Spielman was extensively active on the first day, moving down one spot from No. 3 to No. 4 and acquiring later picks used on Wright and Blanton and also trading up into the tail end of the first round to land Smith. The Vikings still got their man after swapping positions with Cleveland in the top five, as Kalil is a nimble and flexible tackle with top-notch pass-protection skills who will be immediately installed as second- year quarterback Christian Ponder's primary bodyguard on the left side. Smith fills a major need as well at one of the safety posts, with the heady former college linebacker owning the speed to cover tight ends down the seam and the size to be an asset in run support. Minnesota's retooling in the secondary continued with the selection of Robinson, a solid tackler who was clocked in a scorching 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine but is a bit undersized and underdeveloped.

Best Value Pick: Players with Robinson's speed are often hard to find in the third round, and the junior entry's ball skills and improving awareness make him a promising prospect with a potential starter's profile.

Questionable Calls: Spielman did manage to plug most of Minnesota's roster holes with young talent, but may have been able to extract a little more than the fourth, fifth and seventh-round picks he received from the panicky Browns to trade up. Though Walsh has a huge leg and incumbent kicker Ryan Longwell slipped greatly in 2011, the Georgia product is coming off an extremely erratic senior season.

Summary: Spielman made the right call by tabbing Kalil over LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne with Minnesota's first pick, and reeling in a couple of future draft choices in exchange for moving down twice on the third day were pretty shrewd moves as well. The first three selections all look like either immediate or future starters, while players like Wright and Ellison could end up being useful role players. Overall, a job well done.

FINAL GRADE: B+

According to Mel Kiper - Jimmy Assvant had the worst mock draft of any fan ever. He gave him an F- for not understanding what a teams needs are and basically not showing any understanding of the game.

May be the first factual thing Kiper has said about a draft. God knows he makes everything else up.

Also said the draft made an inferior roster even more so, and the draft grade would be no better than a C. And people still respond to his drivel directly.

Cowboys GOT C n C music factory in their secondary.

Perfect way to STRENGTHEN a weak D backfield..........veteran and draft.

Vikes did nothin to acquire any WR via FA, TRADE, OR draft. Noteworthy.

Blackmon was that guy we fukked up on.

Deterrence factor for oppositions' secondary when playin' the Vikes..........NADA

Think you'll realize after the end of this season that there were several rookies who out performed Blackmon. He's a good receiver but he isn't in league of Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson their rookie years. He happened to be the best of a pretty solid WR draft but still isn't a super stud.

Keep in mind that every year a Victor Cruz comes out of nowhere while every year a top pick becomes a bust.

Minnesota Vikings: A-

I like the overall talent level and playing maturity of the group Minnesota brought in. Now, they still overspent on safety Harrison Smith. However, selecting the draft’s top LT in Matt Kalil is always a plus. And when you add in the fact they added a ton of talented mid/late round football players that can help them win from day one (WR Jarius Wright, CB Josh Robinson, LB Audie Cole), it makes it one of my favorite draft classes.

I think somebody is showing their "Bi-Polar" mental disease. Which proves that anything he says is "Irrel-A-vant".

I think we had a good draft.

I think on day 1 and 2 we got an A or A-
Day 3 C+ at best. With the glaring needs we have, I don't get stacking positions that were not screaming for help. Childs, Ellison, and Walsh should be a C- or D. Childs is injury prone and coming off of a patella tendon injury which many never get back to 100% from that. He also had zero TDs last year and is questionable on blocking. Ellison, we just did not need and the same for Walsh, and both were drafted way too early. Ellison did not even think he was going to be drafted..
