Ponder played much better today, which begs to question, if his offensive offense was more about his injury, Webb should have played. Coaches have to make that call, and based on Christian' ineptitude while on his road to recovery, they made the wrong call.

It's been a way better year than anybody expected.I'm sure all the usual suspects will show up on losing weeks. This team is growing and will only get better with added talent. That's my position moving forward.

I think I'll stick with Ponder. He's winning more games than any young, inexperienced Qb in recent Viking memory. I'll just wait on a better supporting cast, through the draft mostly, and for the young man to mature.

Biggest need is right guard. Fusco got knocked on his but multiple times. He also whiffed a lot of blocks. Maybe if Ponder had a real pocket the WRs could get open.

We've already experienced the wide array of play out of our young QB, the good and the bad this year. Having All World AD behind him has got to help, except when AD tries to block, lol. I predicted 6 to 8 wins this year, hopefully they will surpass that total.

Stubby wrote: You are comparing a weak side ILB to a strong side outside LB. Their stats won't match up as their roles are different. What double team is in front of Greenway? The strong side LB lines up on the offenses strong side where the TE or other imbalance of blockers are. There isn't a D double team in front of Greenway but rather the opposite of an O double team. That's why Greenway hardly ever blitzes or gets a sack. It's not his role. Ryans on the other hand benefits from 3-4 scheme that is designed to cause miss matches in blocks and/or confusion in the O blocking assignments. He gets the advantage of the misreads and comes on blitzes through open holes for sacks and tackles for loss. Also, most LB blitz assignments in 3-4 go to weak side LBs. Vikes D is made to funnel takles to greenway. philly d is made to funnel to middle. philly does not play a 3-4, fyi.

As for Ponder, i think he'll always have good games & bad games, but the sum total at the end of the year will always be mediocre to below average. Ponder's YPA yesterday was 6.9, about 0.5 ypa better than his average. AD put the game away, thank goodness, & the Vikes won. I just don't think the "great" Ponder games of 6.9 YPA is gonna get us anywhere without a lot more defense.

I think the young man will get better with time, experience, maturity and a few more pieces on offense.I'm not asking him to do more than he's doing right now. Some very tough games are ahead,it will take defense and a running attack to win.Ponder should only have to do just enough at this juncture of his career in those types of games.Nothing more. And the OC will need to custom fit a game plan that works. He's way to vanilla.I seen the Rams with 5 wr's more than a few times last night,Minn.should try the same.It will help all on offense. You can get the ball off faster, more confusion on D's.Maybe break a long one against lower ranking CB's.Throw in the no huddle and make them keep the D on the field-no substitutes.I would only do those things when nothing else has worked, shake things up sort of speak.

Correct but it is a hybrid 4-3 zone blitz where a DE may not have a hand on the ground making him more like an ILB in a 3-4. In any case it is still an odd comparison to make between a MLB/ILB to an OLB. I see what your getting at but I still don't see how Fletcher Cox was a better draft decision than Kalil. Philly's starting DT's of Cox and Jenkins have 36 tackles and 4 sacks. Vikings starting DTs K Will and Guion have 29 tackles and 4 sacks. Difference of 7 tackles and zero difference in sacks. Why would the Vikings use a 1st round daft pick to give them the same quality D line but do nothing to upgrade a woefully inadequate O line. Cox was who you liked in the draft. Do go all Avant on us now and saying you can do a better jib than Spielman. DT was not their primary need.

The had Jarious Wright inactive all season until week 10. Turned out a lot of talent was sitting in civvies when he should have been in pads.

PF, you put your OL/LT theory to the test in an article you wrote in the Daily Norsemen. They rejected that theory, not just this forum. Year in,year out you disappear from late April until early Nov. Your either growing pot,Plausible or cutting grass.(:

Sometimes you just have to throw all your players into a game, mop up or whatever to see what they do when it matters (not all at the same time) See Brady for how that worked out.

In reviewing the Texans who have reclaimed the #1 power ranking and rightfully so by beating the Bears on the road,I see no elite Qb and an elite receiver, who isn't so elite anymore.Plus I'm not seeing that DT,in this case NT.Even their top runner is a tad off this year. I am seeing a team effort with enough talent sprinkled about.Didn't look at their OL,but I'm guessing it's more complete than ours.I know they have better coaching at DC and HC and I'll assume as much at OC without looking. That's your blue print IMO.

Texans have a 1st round left OT. He was drafted in 08. Since then they have winning seasons 3 out of 5 years after not having a winning season for the previous 7. They also draft DT in both 05 and 07, one of which panned out and were gone after 4 years. Hmmmm I see a pattern here.

In reviewing those top notch Lion DT's.I find no evidence that it's the way to go.Elite receiver and elite Qb were SPANKED by the Minnesota Vikings. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
