Not certain of your definition of elite but there are a lot of very good players at DT and Ol. Agreed the QB class is very weak but Luck was a once in a decade player and RG3 has a unique skill set like Newton and Kaepernick(sp?). Our greatest needs are at DT, WR and LB. We could use an upgrade on the Ol and Loadholt is a FA this year so that might become more of a necessity if he walks. We tend to take BPA which this year falls into the strength of the draft class except for WR; and while no Calvin Johnsons there are a lot of Torrie Smiths out there that can help us. At 23 we were never going to land an impact player that could take us to the Superbowl but we will do o.k. and upgrade the team from this year.

Because of the dearth of quarterbacks? Plenty of linemen. What great WR went last year you wanted? Seattle showed you can't really just follow these pundits. They got an elite player round 1 in Irvin, then rd 2 in Bobby Wagner, round 3 they took a guy named Russell Wilson.

Walter football has us going for the NT John Jenkins, then WR Robert Woods.

Alec Ogletree, ILB could be someone we keep our eye on, although maybe he goes earlier than T'eo now.

You started this thread with a focus on free agents but the first name you threw out is someone under contract. Beason is in year 3 of a 5 year deal. Plus not Carolina intends to bring him back and put him on the weak side and leave Kueckly in the middle.
Beason's gonna get cut. Cap number, dude.

Oh, Carolina has a stud on the weak side. So, it's strong side if they try to keep Beason. doubt it happens.

Oh, Stubby, in addition to cutting Beason (9.5 million) Carolina may have to cut your guy, Jimmie Clausen. Remember when I told you he'd be available when the Vikes drafted?(hehe)

What's up with the 0-8 African-American HC hires????
I will say since all the heat I took in 08 around here, concerning African-American Qb's not winning Super Bowls, that the record continues. What's up with that??????

So, was Peyton Manning a free agent to target last year or was he under contract with the colts? I need to say "likly free agents" to satisfy your trolling?:)

You're not the only one who noticed. Peter Kng pointed out 13 of 14 HC/GM openings are filled and they are all white guys.

On the plus side this means the Vikings staff didn't get raided with someone stealing away Alan Williams like they did Mike Tomlin.

Also it was surprising nobody talked to Arizona's DC, Ray Horton. Not even to fill the Rooney rule.

Their O sucked but their D was very strong. Real surprised he didn't get an interview.

I would think Wiz got the credit for the defense in AZ. Never understood why NFL teams see a guy get a decent season or 3 as a coordinator and decide he's a head coach because of it. Horton's antics have proven to me he should not be a head coach since losing out on the job in AZ.

Wisenhunt is an offensive coach. That's like saying Frazier gets the credit for the Vikings offense.
