I would like to bring in Mike Tolbert to replace Bush, but I've got a feeling that Tolbert (like Bush) is looking to be a starter somewhere

There's just no replacing a good Bush!

I agree with TR and CC. Tolbert would be good, but he could start somewhere.

I'm very disgusted with the decision to franchise Branch when it would've only cost 1.5 million more to use it on Bush. Safeties are much easier to replace than running backs.

Green-Ellis might be available too---though I doubt it---and would cost only 1/3-1/2 of what Bush would get.

Not quite the same running style, but a very, very reliable back. And 245lbs. And never fumbles. And he's already use to a "time share" scenario.

Given the choice for a replacement for Bush, I would take Green-Ellis over Tolbert but I think both will end up being starters somewhere.

There's a handful of really good RB's in FA this year.....and I don;t think many of them (if any) are making as much $$ as Michael Bush. We should have no problem replacing Bush with a decent backup RB at less cost.

Green-Ellis (Big)
Peyton Hillis (Big)
Maurice Morris (Cheap)
Thomas Jones (Cheap)
Derrick Ward
Isaac Redman
Cadillac Williams
Ryan Grant
Jason Snelling (Big)
Cedric Benson (I don't see him rejoining Carson)
LeRon McClain (real Big FB for 3rd down and 2)
.....just to name a few.

Yeah, some of these guys are probably out of our price range (with our cap issue) and some of them will not play a backup role but we should have no problem replacing Bush for less money.

Hillis was McFadden's fullback at Arkansas so I like the Idea of him coming to Oakland. The only one on that list that I'm opposed to is Cedric Benson mainly for what he did to my sister's friend when he was in college plus he was my HS arch rival

That may be why they opted to let Bush walk

Yeah, TR, I don't think Benson would come here. From what I understand, he and Palmer had some issues. I guess Benson is partly the reason for Palmer "retiring" in Cinci.

Hillis would be great. He's a great RB......might even rival DMac for carries. Plus, as you said, with the Arkansas connection, they would probably work well together. But I don't see Hillis in our price range. He pissed Cleveland off (by listening to his agent's advice) but he's still a good RB and will get big money.

Same with Green-Ellis. He's my 2nd choice (as long as I'm dreaming) but he'll get big money from somebody too.

Forgot one.......Jackie Battle.

I know that's probably not real popular with a lot of people because he's not as famous as a lot of the others but I saw him run against us this year and was very impressed. I looked up some highlights and was still impressed. I'm not talking about a guy that can score a TD at any given moment. The way I see it, we need a relief back to rest DMac and move the chains, that's all we need. Like Bush, a good 3rd and 2 guy. When I watched him, it seemed like Battle was just hard to bring down. A guaranteed 2 yards. No TD--just 2-3 yards to move the chains. I think Battle could definitely give us that.

And his salary is about 400k.

Hillis and Battle would both be good options. But I would sure miss getting to see Bush perform 16 times a year (or more)! Not to mention all of our Bush jokes. But if I had to, I would Battle for Bush!!! I need help.

Cant afford Hillis...with the o-line improving, all is needed is a decent backup (at a reasonable cost)...one who can carry the load if you know who gets injured yet again...

Green-Ellis (Big)...also ran 3/4's of NE offense, would want too much $$$$

Peyton Hillis (Big)...wont be able to afford

Maurice Morris (Cheap)...injury prone

Thomas Jones (Cheap)...and old...couldnt carry the team if McFadden went down

Derrick Ward...did not perform well when called upon to start...but had flashes

Isaac Redman...good fit

Cadillac Williams...washed up

Ryan Grant...injury prone

Jason Snelling (Big)...good fit

Cedric Benson (I don't see him rejoining Carson)...couldnt afford him anyway

LeRon McClain (real Big FB for 3rd down and 2)...but could he carry the load as a STARTING RB if McFadden was injured...nooooo

Tolbert....good fit

Jackie Battle...possible, but a serious reach....

If DMac goes down with injury we still got Taiwan Jones. I'm hoping he will really find his niche this year.....but that depends on coaching--and how they use him.

I don't know, Houston.......I heard McClain ran the ball real good for Baltimore. And he usually averages over 3 yds per carry. I don't know how well he'd hold up if he had to carry the whole load though.........but he shouldn't have to Taiwan here.

Snelling & Redman I'd be happy with too. And I agree that Hillis & Green-Ellis are out of our price range......But as long as I'm dreaming LOL
