Once again, Indianapolis is off to an unbelievable start to the new year as its citizens gun each other down in record numbers. You know what, Democrat or Republican...I don't care. Someone has got to fix this. Where has this sense of lawlessness come from? Why, seemingly in the past year, do the people of Indianapolis resort to deadly violence. And for the record, does anyone know the % of murders last years that a) went unsolved, b) was black on black, c) was white on white, d) was black on white, e) was white on black., and f) where the crime took place. Is this type of breakdown available online anywhere? I'm very concerned that the black community is suffering a disproportionate amount of crime here in Indy. I think we'd all do well to pray for our city, its leaders, and the good people who live here.

I just do not understand this city and the violence that is occuring. After 40 years of living here I am really thinking about moving. These poor women and children gunned down in their own home. My Lord what is going to occure when the warmer months get here. I am afraid to walk down my own street now days. To the family I will keep you in my prayers.

Sorry for the death of the little ones. "Good people" don't have drugs and guns together in a home with innocent children. Their deaths aren't justified but we see once again what the drug culture brings people down to.

i agree, it is very unfortunate that this happened, but if they had been in a better place maybe this wouldn't of happened.

in a better place i mean anywhere this wasn't "Inside the home, officers found a safe, marijuana, an electronic scale, ammunition and three long guns, according to a report."

Did you really think about what you wrote before you wrote it?

So these little babies are to blame for being shot by some cowards because they may or may not be realted to a drug dealer?

I will tell you something. Everyone (whites) in this city think that all the drugs and all the crimes are committed by the black community in these city. This is far from true. Yes, drugs are dealt on the Eastside, but they are also dealt on every side of town. The cars that pull up ot buy them? Most have 41,29,30 or 32 prefix plates on them. Those are addicts from the burbs!

This is a crime of the highest evil, dont blame the victims based on the choices of someone else or thier skin color.

Could have stopped the story with this:

"Inside the home, officers found a safe, marijuana, an electronic scale, ammunition and three long guns, according to a report."

At least we now know the motive for the shooting. If drug dealers want to put their friends and families in the line of fire where drugs, guns and money are kept, they have no right to be shocked when something like this happens.

Are you involved with someone who is living the thug life? Understand that when the shooting starts, you might not be spared just because you are directly involved. Just being there can get you killed.

And just whose fault would that be? How about these people take some personal responsibility for their choices to be involved in the kind of activities that lead to murders.

this is too crazy, I knew of these two women, and never would have thought they were involved in the drug scene. I guess it is true that you dont really know what the next person is going through. It is so unfortunate that someone would kill babies, that is just cold and heartless.

IF TWO MOTHER AND 2 CHILDREN CAN DIE AND NO ONE CARES TO GET INVOLVED DOES NOT MEAN THE POLICE SHOULD STOP INVESTIGATING THE CASE? WHEN THE HISPANIC FAMILY DIED IT MADE NATIONAL NEWS. FBI, STATE AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES GOT INVOLVED. WOULD ANYONE AGREE THAT THIS NEED TO GET NATIONAL ATTENTION? PLEASE GET THE POLITICIANS INVOLVED AND THE CITY ADMINSTRATION TOO. WE AS A PEOPLE HAVE TO STAND UP FOR REDUCTION IN CRIME AND TO HAVE PEOPLE START GOING BACK TO THE NIEGBORHOOD WATCH 24/ 7 AS WELL AS ARMING OURSELVES TO PROTECT OUR NIEGBORHOOD, FAMILY AND HOME. BUT SOME PEOPLE WON'T CARE AND WANT TO SPEW RACIST COMMENT ON THIS SITE INSTEAD OF COMMING UP WITH IDEALS. THE CITY ADMINSTRATION IS PATHETIC AND BALLARD WILL BE A TARGET FOR THIS HERE. ALREADY 9 MURDER AND IT'S ONLY JAN 15TH! WAKE THE HELL UP AND DO SOMETHING INSTEAD OF MAKING DUMB COMMENTS.

This recent homicide has taken the lives of four people. This type of violence is unacceptable. We as a community have to stand up and protect our next generation or we will not have one. Educators, government officials, and yes our new mayor, please take heed before a whole generation is lost. Create programs for our youth, and increase funding in our school systems. Drug dealing and homicide go hand and hand, but is a direct result of society that has forgotten about our youth, and the media (myspace, MTV, BET), has taken them under their wings and now our youth is lost. Four lives gone, how many more. Wake up people and help raise, guide, nuture, and love our youth. IN JESUS NAME!!!

No one deserves to be killed the way these women were and the children-what can anyone say? There is no excuse whatsoever for murdering children. The mothers have paid the ultimate price for being a part of the drug culture even if they weren't dealing themselves. When they catch the murderers, and hopefully they will catch them; I hope that they get placed in the general population of prison. Even the most hardened criminals have no use for child killers. These monsters, anyone who kills a child is a monster, would be begging for the death penalty-anything to get away from the other inmates.

Illegal drugs destroy and drug users enable it to happen. Being a user is not a victimless crime.

How about some drug enforcement? Smaller crimes crate bigger crimes.
