JaMichael Finley and his agent were told the Packers were not comfortable with his current deal,JF and Co. resisted on a redo on his deal,TT and Co. decided to keep him for 13 at 8.25M
SO Finley is a Packer for 2013.
Question is,if Finley has a monster year, how much more will he ask for? IF he does will TT give it to him or let him walk.IF TT pays him, does he go back to the same ole JF we have seen the past few seasons?
Potential is one thing, but, hes been living off of it for long enough,Produce, quite dropping the damn ball, knock off the me and AR arent on the same page bs and play some football,You can be a nightmare to cover if your on your game,so just do it!

He is in for a HUGE year...contract year and im sure Rodgers made a remark about it just like he did for James Jones. I expect Finley to be a real force as long as he stays healthy.

They'll probably let him play it out and let him walk. Everybody wants to draft a TE and I ask: why did we draft Quarless, Williams and Taylor for? Williams, in particular, should be a decent receiver--and he's only 23. Wouldn't shock me to see he or Quarless push into the lineup. And just a thought: if the Pats can run 2 TE pass sets, why can't we?

Thats the plus and when he wants 10M next year the Packers can let him walk and let Quarless ( after 13 season of getting back into shape) and DJ Williams ( who hopefully will take that step in year 4 and break the lineup)

McCarthy is a spread'em out type of coach. I sometimes wonder if he's capable of evolving in the NFL as fast as others do. Rodgers could, i hope McCarthy can as well, and not run such obvious play calling sometimes, like your 3rd and 1 20 yard passes.

The 3rd and 1 longer passes didnt surprise me as GB was 11 of 18 pickup 1st downs on 3rd and 1 last year ( near bottom of the NFL( im sure it was effected after Benson was lost with the injury but...)and it may get better this year with Harris back there
IM hoping with Harris back there, they start throwing more screens or quick dump offs as they draw the defense deeper in the backfield.

I know the 3rd and 1 longer passes didnt surprise u, nor does it surprise anyone else. I cant even imagine if Green Bay were to have a 1000 yard rusher who can also get those short yardage situations.

You go with your strengths.GB was 4th in offense last year and clearly with the best qb in the game and the WR he has,why not throw! They may know its coming but still with that talent why not.
I dont know if GB will ever have a 1,000 rusher, they dont use 1 back for enough carries to do it.Im happy with a bit over 100 yards per game and near a 4 per average.
Short yardage situation has been a problem the past few years for sure,we need an upgrade at FB and or a bigger back who can bang it,which is why Benson isnt to bad an option if they dont find a Bigger back in the draft.

I'm with you Jeremy. Just because we average 3 yds a carry, is that any reason to throw deep on 3rd and 1? Once a year, okay, but not twice a game. How about crossing'em up for real and---I dunno--throw short? That was Mike Sherman's playbook. I'm guessing it's some West Coast offense axiom? It's looks easy when Joe Montana and Roger Craig are doing it. I'm not sure we've run on third and one since McCarthur Lane.

Short yardage has been a problem the past couple years. I wonder how many times Green Bay was in an empty backfield on third or second and short yard situations. It sure seemed like a lot to me, but I may be way off on that. It has crippled our Defense on too many occasions as well, the long time consuming drives were far and few between. I know McCarthy wants a solid RB behind Rodgers, he has mentioned many times how he would "like" to run the ball more.

Agreed! Thats why im really hoping a kid like DuJuan Harris is the real deal, hes only 5 9 but at 205 or so and decent speed, runs low and proved to be a good Receiving back ( which allows MM to call more screens and give AR that target to dump the ball off to).My problem with MM is, he seems to get away from the run to early. You are right,we need time killing drives and give the defense a rest and thats another reason why im pushing for a bigger better blocking FB.Even if we have to convert a LB to FB,Kuhn is a fan favorite, not great on short yardage situations and not great as a blocker.Go out and draft a big ole FB and find that big back,i wouldnt mind bringing back Cedric Benson at this point,,not great but didnt do all that bad when he was here and will come cheap, that and draft a RB in the later rounds.

I think we are definitely drafting a back this year, just probably not #1.
My reasoning is that I think Mac wants to run the ball for balance, but he wants to pass to score. As such, pass protection is a priority in his backfield and a first round rookie is expected to play--and a liability for your $20 million QB. DuJuan Harris wasn't getting as much playing time at first because he was a pass blocking concern. Andre Ellington would be a good pick for us -- maybe a little high at 55 --but I would definitely take him if he's still on the board at 88.
