Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out for Sunday vs ATL. Dr wont clear him..
I wonder if the Packers should just IR Rodgers, sign someone off the practice squad and finish the season.

I figure they are going to see how Sunday's game goes. They have a reasonable shot at beating the Falcons with Flynn at QB. If they win, then I think we see Rodgers the following week against Dallas, since at that point they still have a shot at the division (a longshot, requiring Detroit to lose a couple, but a shot nevertheless).

Now, if they lose to the Falcons, then I think they shut Rodgers down for the rest of the year. They would be officially out of the playoffs, and there would be no reason to bring him back.

It sends the wrong message to make any player a prima donna. If a starter is healhy enough to play he should play. Winners never quit, and quitters never win.

Det has Philly on the road then Baltimore,so Det very well could lose the next 2.
Its been said if Rodgers doesnt play vs ATL,hes done..Its been said ( what answerman said) if they beat ATL then Rodgers plays ( if Healthy vs Dallas) but i am really wondering about playing Rodgers vs Dallas on turf 5 weeks later may be pushing it
If GB beats ATL,,both Chi and Det lose, maybe they still play Flynn in Dallas and give Rodgers that extra week.Dallas is prob. the toughest game of the last 4 ( although Pittsburgh is playing much better)

I'm sure Rodgers will need to be medically cleared before he plays.

That's really the whole issue. He may have his range of motion and all the other stuff ready to go but if he doesn't pass the MRI scan then it is a moot point. He wants to play as does everyone else. Read in the USA Today last week if Rodgers came back too soon and re-injured the collarbone with a displaced fracture it would require surgery and 3-5 months of recovery with no football activity. In the "big picture", even though the Packers are still in the playoff hunt, do you risk the health of your star QB? If he passes all the necessary tests and examinations then he should play. Any doubt by the team physicians then he sits.

I'm not a doctor, but I assume no doctor would tell a patient to play football unless a fracture was healed sufficiently to avoid rebreaking the bone. Are the NFL teams hiring quacks? I think it's probably more difficult to tell if an ankle sprain or hamstring pull has healed enough than a fracture. X-rays and other scans show bone damage and healing much better than soft tissue injuries.

The XRay will tell if its healed, but, would it tell how strong it is and if it can take another hit?
There must be a scientific procedure or test to tell ( i would assume) at least to a certain extent. He has been out for 5 weeks and it will be 6 weeks to heal by the Dallas Game,is that enough? WHo knows?..
Obviously,if GB lost yesterday and Det won yesterday and GB was done,im sure they would have shut Rodgers down and let Flynn and Tolzien gain experience. Now with GB 1/2 game behind Det and either 1/2 up or down to Chicago ( depending on tonights game vs Dal.) they are clearly in it ( record wise) at this point,SO,again by the Dallas Game it will be 6 weeks since the injury

I certainly hope the Packers NEVER shutdown a player at is healthy enough to play. Wimps can play for another team. If Rodgers could play and didn't, there isn't a player on the team that should have an ounce of respect for him for the rest of his playing career. I know I was never on a team that would want a pussy like that on the team. If Rodgers is healthy and doesn't play by coach choice McCarthy will never win another championship so he may as well leave now. If Rodgers is healthy and doesn't play by his choice, Rodgers may as well leave because there isn't a player that will respect him and the Packers wouldn't have a chance to win another championship until Rodgers is gone. Of course, I don't expect Mccarthy to be that stupid and I fully expect Aaron to insist on playing like any player should.

Mc Monday presser,he made a point to mention that Matt Flynn is practicing as the starter next Sunday vs Dallas.
Rodgers has already stated he will not play until he is 100%,so should Rodgers leave then, since players play injured? He should leave because the Packers wouldnt have a chance to win a championship with him on the team? a bit dramatic isnt it?

Can't you read? I said he shold be medically cleared. I said he should be healthy enouhg to play. It's beyond foolish to risk reinjury IF he isn't healthy and hasn't been cleared. But if he is and doesn't play, I hope he NEVER plays for the Packers again. I feel that way about EVERY player on the Packer roster. They should have a "no pussies allowed" policy. Do you think Clay Matthews wasn't medically cleared? Could he have pussed out and tried to wait longer to return? Sure! But then he wouldn't be Clay Matthews, would he? There are players that deserve to ne Packers and there are some that don't. You have complained about Cutler nt being tough enough to win a championship. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that IF Aaron Rodgers sits WHILE HEALTHY he has become the kind of prima donna wimp that would never win another championship. As I said though, I have no reason to suspect Rodgers would wimp out. If Rodgers is the player I think, he wouldn't take no for an answer once healthy.

If Rodgers is not 100% healthy he should not return to the lineup period. He may want to play as everyone wants him to play also. It would be foolish of the organization to risk any players future if they were to play a player not 100% healthy especially this type of injury to a bone. I understand playing with busted up thumbs, muscle strains, etc, etc. But, like I said above, if Rodgers were to reinjure this same injury the recovery could be long term.

They are going to elavuate him on Wednesday from what ive read,so we may get our answer then.Im sure he wants to play but im also sure 6 weeks is not a lot of tim e,so while it may be healed,it may not be 100% "Healed" strength wise and if GB was out of it,why not shut him down OR give him an extra week?(s) to heal and since they are at the end of the season, why run him out for the last game or so,but, Since GB is only 1/2 game out,im sure AR plays but again,im sure they will consider all aspects and i would imagine trying to predict how it would hold up under a serious hit ( which is many sacks in the NFL)is in question,

Eerybody agrees Rodgers must be healhy before he plays. But this isn't an RG3 injury that obviously hasn't fully healed. BTW I still think RG3 should play, but the talk of sitting him does make SOME sense. Aaron isn't out because of recurrrent hamstring pulls or multiple concussions or some other chronic recurring injury. Those kind of injuries sometimes benefit from extended time away from football. Any bone that fractures, once healed, is more likely to break anywhere else than at the fracture. Fractures are MUCH better uderstood. And the testing and scans and physical exams are more reliable than with many other injuries. IF Rodgers is healthy and doesn't play, as I said he can leave town! We don't need players like that. Every player on the team has played with pain and through injuries. No player that gets to "sit" despite being healthy will ever get respect from football players. No man is playing quite as hard if he knows a panty waste is leading his team. It's a fact that should be known to everyody that has played the game. I'm sure Aaron understands. Unless he now thinks he is some kind of prima donna, he won't let McCarthy sit him when healthy. So all of this talk is a moot point.

How can you be sure he plays again? It needs to be healed and he needs to be medically cleared. If that doesn't happen he shouldn't play no matter what the records or playoff situation. The football situation is irrelevant to whether he is healthy. When healthy he should play. If not, he shouldn't! IF Rodgers is healthy he should play because he would give them the best chance to win. It's no different for him than a cornerback or center or reciever or any other position player. Healthy players that give the Packers the best chance to win should play. We don't need wimps that think they are playing golf or in synchronized swimming. Football is for men. Feminems need not apply! Anybody that has been in a football lockerroom should know how it is.

Aaron's comments today made it sound like he doesn't expect the scan results tomorrow to result in medical clearance. I sounds like he is still having considerable pain also.
