"It's not a controversial statement to say that Christian Ponder had an up and down 2012 season."

Why was this published in the Daly Norseman? Don't the editors know how much Viking fans wish to pretend that Ponder is a good QB? Won't this article spoil their attempts to lie to themselves?

A QB in his first full season at the helm with a non-existent WR corps who takes his team to the play-offs is not to be considered good????? Careful not to show off that vast wealth of football knowledge you claim to possess all at once little fella..........

IS he the QB of the future for the Vikes? That reamins to be seen..........jury is still out.......... he has to play more consistently. TO say a starting QB in the NFL, especially one that took his team into the post-season HIS FIRST FULL YEAR, does not have talent, is ludicrous..........first and foremost ALL the players in the NFL are terrific.......it is an elite league..........the same can't be said about GBPfan's comments however..........

He just has to continue to mature, learn and grow and with playing experience ( and staying healthy) and better WR,he should be able to take the next step forward.Jennings isnt the talent Harvin is,but, hes a good veteran step to help the younger WR learn how to handle themselves on how to be professional

By your own admission Ponder is sooooooooo "good" that you question whether he is the Vikings QB of the future. It seems that you have made my point for me. Thank you!

Are you talking about Christian Ponder or Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez or Blaine Gabbert or Matt Flynn or ....

EVERY QB needs to "just continue to mature, learn, grow, and with playing experience, and staying healthy and with better WRs" they will get better. The process is the same for every QB. Yet few become topflight QBs in the NFL. There is no reason at this point to expect Chrisian Ponder to be anything more than middle of the pack. At this point middle of the pack would be an improvement. Is it really necessary to stroke the egos of Viking fans? Are Viking fans really so fragile that they can't handle the truth? Is that what 5 decades of failure creates? Poor bastards! Well you do a fine job of building their hopes eric. Good job! When the inevitable occurs they will fall that much harder.

You know allot of people want to compare Jennings to Harvin.I dont think we ever really got Jennings to replace Harvin. We got Patterson to replace Harvin.

Ponder is fine.No worries. The important thing is he bounced back.Didnt Rodgers have an up and down season when you were in last place after the first three games of the season.HA HA HA HEE HEE

WOW! What a clumsy statement. Rodgers has at least 6 more years at the best of all time level. Ponder has been hurt and inconsistent each of the last 6 years 4 college 2 NFL.
I don't see how Spielman and Frazier can put their job on the line for someone who has been hurt every year since his freshman season in college. I understand FANS most have nothing to lose.!

Rodgers is a star the best in the NFL better than Brady and Manning just because we are vikings fans don't mean we can't see the truth.

If we could trade Rodgers straight up for Ponder you would take that in a heartbeat.

No I dont think I would.Rodgers is 30 years old and has had multiple concussions. In the last 14 years only four quarterbacks past 30 have won the superbowl.Brad Johnson at 34 in 2002,Peyton Manning at 30 in 2006,Drew Brees at 31 in 2009,Eli Manning at 31 in 2011.In todays league he may not have the 6 years you think he does. Its kinda hard to gauge Ponder cause hes never had the recievers Rodgers had.Nor does he pass for 552 attempts in one year.In Rodgers first year he went 6-10 with wide recievers,Donald Driver,Greg Jennings,Ruvell Martin and James Jones.Thats year they drafted Jordy Nelson. In 2009 they lost in the wildcard with recievers,Driver,Jennings,Jone s,and Jordy Nelson. So give Ponder a break.Rodgers has had 6 years with jones and 4 years with nelson to get that chemistry.

I would say Aaron is one of the top QBs but as good as Peyton Manning I would say no, Hightest passer rating in a season Manning 121.1 Most MVP with 4 Most yards gained by a rookie 3,739 Most games with 4 or more touchdown passes 6 I am not putting Aaron down at all because I do think he is good But he does hold on the ball way to long. You can't only blame his front line for all the sacks. Aaron's paaser rating is good, but look at the big games he won to the big games he lost. Aaron's big game losses out number his big game wins.

Now if I had a choice of Ponder that's yard total per-game equals that of Tim Tebow or Aaron one of the top QBs in the game today, its a no brainer Aaron all the way. Sorry vikings fans but really look at the two stats Both been hurt So you can't go by age so the pick has to go by the players throwing yards per game So hands down its Aaron as my pick.

thats alright that you pick Rodgers.Thats why this is a discussion panel.I know most would say im nuts but I wouldnt take him because hes had multiple concussions and hes been sacked over 200 times.Plus hes 30.As far as Im concerned 2010 was his best year.Colin Kapernick and Matt Ryan had a higher qb rating last year.Believe it or not Ponder had a higher QB rating last year than.Jay Cutler,Josh Freeman,Andy Dalton,Sam Bradford and Joe Flacco.
