When last we saw Johnny Jolly wearing Green and Gold, it was when he was a 16-game starter in 2009 - a feisty, bruising defensive tackle who helped the Green Bay Packers to an 11-5 record and an NFC Wildcard berth.

Although he's a one-of-a-kind player, I can see the Vikings fan view that there's too much emphasis on losing Harvin. They certainly won without him last year. The heart of the offensive team is the line play. The health of those players will have a lot to say about Peterson's success--as great as he is. Need to keep him healthy too. No one's game-planning for Toby Gerhart. I liked Ponder out of college. He got a master's in like 3 1/2 years--and he's a decent football player. Lack of other playmakers has plagued his development, imo.
I don't see the Vikings deviating from their game plan much in 2013, despite the addition of Jennings. It protects a defense that has gotten younger and a sometimes shaky secondary. And they've got a reliable long-range kicker who keeps tacking 3s on whenever they stall.
If your point is that the Vikings have a great running back and strong ground game, naturally I agree. That is abundantly clear. I also expect the Vikings to continue with that game plan. What real choice do they have? BTW when a team starts talking about their kicker, that never is a GOOD thing!

I never said Peterson was disgruntled. I never even suggested that he was. Why are YOU suggesting that Peterson might be disgruntled?
BTW no Viking fan has told me the last time the Vikings beat the Packers. It's been so long I really can't remember. If losing to the Packers game after game after game after game after game ... is your definition of "closing in on the Packers" I'm okay with that!
We beat you in week 17.As a matter of fact we prevented you from breaking the record for most games won against division opponents. Those days are over. The Vikings are a legitimate contender whether you want to acknowledge it or not.It was no fluke that we made the playoffs. We won our last 4 games in which 3 were playoff teams.Texans,Rams,Bears,Packer s.We also beat the 49ers which you were unable to do.And yes Ponder threw the ball.Against the Packers he had a 120.2 rating.3 touchdowns no interceptions. The following is a video to refresh youre memory.

See. I really couldn't remember. Of course, it's easy to forget the meaningless games! And I don't care if you believe that the Vikings are "legitimate contenders" or not. You can attach any and every meaningless label you want. The only label that matters is World Champion! The Vikings have been "legitimate contenders" for that title several times. But we all know how that story ends.

I'm not trying to lessen your enthusiasm for your team. As a Viking fan, hope is all you have. I wouldn't dream of taking that from you! Keep on hoping. BTW those numbers that Ponder put up sound pretty impressive. That must explain why everyone recognizes Ponder as the best QB in the NFL.

I did not know that. Hmmmmmm. I knew the Packers had been dominating the division, but I didn't know they tied a record. Thanks for letting me know.

My point was perfectly clear and about Percy Harvin. But I'm glad you agree with my reasoning. I agree with your point about kickers. I wish I something good to say about our kicker, however.

The Vikings can only hope that Harvin's contributions are filled by other players. However, hoping for it won't make it happen.

We also swept Chicago again, which you couldnt do, we beat you 2 of 3 and the most important time as well. Some teams match better with some.SFwas a bad match, we had a draft, moved a few players around, out, will get some back and we will see if it improved anything or not

Thats true Eric the only thing we can do is see which teams improve. But as of last year coming to this year the Vikings were the only NFC north that beat the Packers. We lost Harvin which nobody wanted to do but he had his mind made up he wasnt going to wait till his contract was due to be paid.We couldnt do that because if we did all our players would want to be paid early. If he waited one more year he would have gotten his money. The thing with Harvin is he cant play the outside. He tried in 2010 and 11.As of last year we had Michael Jenkins,Devin Aromashodu,Harvin,Simpson, and Wright.Aromashodu and Jenkins are basically the same guy.Their basically possession recievers and I wouldnt mind having them as a third or 4th reciever but not a 1st their not going to give you a deep threat.I see Jenkins was picked up by New England and I hope someone gives Aromashodu a shot cause he did make some key plays for us.Wright was just drafted last year so he didnt get to play till Harvin got hurt but he did pretty well.So with the combination of Wright and Patterson replacing Harvin I dont think were going to miss him that much. Now Jennings and Simpson and Patterson as a deep threat teams will at least have to cover them. What I see as a weakness last year is now a strength. The Vikings are pretty close to the Packers.

I could say the same thing about youre offensive line. You can only hope that it works out.Plus what have you done to stop the run.Thats what hurt you most and you draft a pass rushing DE.Unless you oline and fullback etc. can do some real blocking youre running game wont get off the ground. So I guess thats another thing youre hoping.

Hey Eric maybe the Packers should sign Aromashodu for some depth.

We didn't lose a Percy Harvin type of talent from our offensive line. So you are comparing apples and oranges. BTW even with that horrible run blocking O-line the Packers won the division. There is no reason for me to expect the Packers not to win the division AGAIN even if there is NO improvement to the O-line. And just imagine what the Packers may do with even a slight improvement!

I accept your point that there are things for which I am hoping. However, there is one thing I am NOT hoping for ... I am NOT hoping for the Packers to win their first world title! The Packers have been the world's greatest football team more often than any other football team. I am hoping for the Packers to add to the record total of Championships.
