Why Nobody Should Be Throwing Christian Ponder Under The Bus Yet

Dec 12, 2011 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Daily Norseman

One thing that shocked and dismayed be a little bit in the wake of yesterday's loss to the Detroit Lions was how many people apparently want to jump on the " Christian Ponder stinks" bandwagon.

No, we are a game behind. I think we can catch them.
But, I think somehow Spurgeon Wynn and Demitrius Underwood are in charge of drafting.....and will be late for the pick.
Wow! Late for the first pick. A new low.
I hate Spielman.
Harry Vikes need a wideout and Oline help
Oklahoma St. WR or the guard from..........name escapes me. Both sure fire instant impact players. Do u even like the Vikings?

Well he is a rookie, could use stud receivers and OL help.Million dollar question would be if all that helps once in place and with experience.
So either we draft another QB or see how it goes.
If we had all that,to me I think Ponder would be ok not great.Sort of like Dalton who isn't putting up huge numbers. He also is a rookie though.
Also when Peterson went down,I'm sure DC's changed there game plans, putting more heat on a bad passing team. And I mean receivers and crappy OL protection.
With all that said,I think Ponder did ok and I'm looking at the whole body of work.
Lastly,McNabb stole early season reps and of course there was no training period at all.
I think Minn will stay with Ponder and not draft unless it's Luck and we all agree there.
Earlier today,I was reading most of our 2009 threads.
Avant spent the entire year bashing Favre and supporting a benched TJ.Essentially he wanted Jackson starting and bench Favre.
We made the Title game and if not for 12 men, kick the FG and advance.
I would discount his every bias thought.
Just go to 2009 threads and read, you'll see.

They should all be packing in by now
but
no,I think they'll all play it out.
Way to many players play when they want.
Game checks would end that B.S.
Avant should be ignore by all but me,I keep what he says in the proper light, because I remember everything, even his own B.S.he forgets.

Nuts.

Luck is the kind of guy that can spark things. WRs, TEs etc will come to Luck's team. Free Agency will be much easier.

I just do not see a spark right now. The Vikings need a centerpiece to build around. I really like AP but he's not it.

Luck would be a good centerpiece to build a stadium funding proposal around

Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows Luck is not going to end up in MN....not if Indy has any say in the matter.

My challenge to everyone: What is the Vikings #1 priority in the draft and FA next year? Be specific.

The #1 priority is a GM to make personnel decisions.

Right now its all by committee. A lot of Childres' horrible decisions came from pretty much this same group.

Run first offense? Tampa 2 with no secondary? Donovan McNabb?

The draft won't matter without a GM. And not Speilman.

Draft a stadium in the first round.
Without that, nobody would even consider playing there

I kinda go with it's a coach's decision on what offense and defense to run...but you're right, a GM needs to help supply the necessary people.
Since Spielman helped hire, or at least had input, on hiring Frasier, I would say he is the defacto GM....and he aint been too good. Any ideas on the replacement?

Zigi has no problem spending money.

Bill Cowher, Jeff Fisher, Bill Parcells, John Gruden, or anybody who is NOT Rick Spielman.

This whole thing is such a mess because no one is in charge.

Zigi makes a big splash on a free agent now and then, but who is in charge of depth? Who can take a look from the top and see the personnel need to have a scheme that fits. Christ, I can see what is wrong on TV. The Tampa 2 sucks for this group! And Frazier is committed to a run-first offense. Crazy.

McNabb? Singletary? Where are you, Zigi? ZIGI! Listen close! You need the NFL network. You need ESPN! Call the cable company and upgrade now!

Rumor has it that Spielman may become GM however he will not be able to clean house. The Frazier guy needs to can his whole staff, and to do that, the GM needs to can Frazier and get a guy who will strike fear in the players and not be pals with them.

A vertical alignment starting with a new GM who will be in charge and clean house? Don't see it.

I'm not huge on copying other teams but we need to get ONE GUY IN CHARGE. The most glaring exception of vertical alignment not working is Dallas. Jones is a wreck.

Green Bay got their GM, got a coach, said goodbye to the past and got on with it.

This season, no GM except Al Davis circa 1980 would have allowed McSlabb on the team after Ried and Shanahan gave up on him.

No owner would keep the same triangle of futility in place after drafting Troy Williamson and Erasmus James.

This is a bad situation. Zigi is a real estate guy. He needs a football guy at the top to build a winner.

Until then, a run-first team is 6-10. Oh, maybe a fun win now and then, but this is not a sucky division that 8-8 will win.

0 for the division. Spectacular. And Green Bay is great, Detroit made the playoffs and Chicago will rebound.
