How sad that a pampered ball palyer can insult a guy he is supposedly working with, then turn around and threaten to sue and get the hard working guy fired. Andy has done a lot of community work and has helped collect food for the Over the Rhine Soup Kitchen for the past three years. He has helped raise over $20,000 for charity. Yet one ball player threatens him and he is fired. That is dispicable. TJ owes Andy an apology.

If you ran around 20 states screaming at the top of your lungs, calling someone a racist and repeating something that was supposedly said through voice mail(we never heard what T.J said and T.J, who is of mixed heritage himself and has a wife who is half white), while representing your employer, don't you think that your employer would can your a$$ as well? Furman is an idiot and long deserved what he got.

Andy Furman's comments are nothing new in this market place.Anyone who listens to 700 WLW on a regular basist knows that there has long been a racist under tone to what several of the on air host project. I have called and stated to them before that it isn't just the fact that these kind of statements about people of color are said ,but rather they (Andy furman,Willie Cunningham,Darryl Parks and others)Try to veil these comments in a way they figure minorities will be to stupid to get their real feelings.Sadly we are evolved enough to know when we are being insulted. The most Ironic thing is that Program Manager Darryl Parks host a weekend morning show that features a black co-host "sensable Don", Who's primary role is to function as a slap on the back "house N" for darryl. I guess this is their way of validating some of the garbage they throw out there. I do admit to listening to it occasionally because what could be more entertaining than visualizing an old black man ,who should know better, kissing a white mans condescending ass for several hours. I hope this has enlightened you a little bit about Cincinnati and it's media. I hope you don't imagine me to be just another black man who wants to rant and play the race card. I was equally offended at some of the personal and sexist things that were said about Dr. Nancy Zimpher when she fired Bob Huggins from U.C.. I did not like the action she took but I don't think calling her anything you want such as "dumb broad" (1539 homer sports animal) is needed either. Let's face it behind any comment or joke there is always a chance to get a glimpse at someones true beliefs. Thank you Clear Channel for cleaning up air waves one racist/sexist at a time .

To the preTo the previously posted comment:
It's hard to "imagine" accountability these days. First of all, do we even know the final verdict? If what Furman said was true I hope he sues the EEOC crap out of the Nation's Station.
It would be hard to imagine that if T.J. would have actually said what was alleged that he would have to be accountable and own up for it anyway. If the race issue was relevant, then it certainly was started with an irrelevant punk ass white boy reference.
A guy that calls another guys a "House N", and that's supposed to be okay. I don't care what your color is, if you circulate the "N" word with some kind of entitlement, one is hardly any better. This "to [too]stupid" occurrence happens on a regular "basist [basis]". I think some of the people that complain and moan the most don't check themselves enough. I wonder if this is a microcosm of the bigger problem.
But let us deal with the content of character: Let's not be socialist here and stifle the First Amendment. It is free speech talk radio. I guess freedom is freedom, but the freedom to fail is too much? Racism is racism, and it seems eerily packaged the same way, no matter whom it comes out of. Racist are blind to the fact that they themselves are blind. Iím not talking blind to color. I am talking that they just canít see themselves.

I have no idea what has gone on to promote the firing of Anyd Furman. I just know he was the best of "sports" host and whatever the racism business is about, he is not a racist!! I have grown up with WLW and I continue to listen day and night and I've never heard racism, just plain commend sense spoken on "all" of the talk shows.
I feel so bad to know that Andy is no longer with WLW and WLW's loss is certainly someone else's gain!! How could you let him go???

I have mixed feelings about the situation. I think that Furman had a hard time with criticism period. I heard him hang up on many a person because of disagreement. He took it personally. On the other hand, he is a good person who has done a lot for the community and will be missed. I think WLW should stick by their man, and since they didn't, I hope he sues their A$$ off.

Just wondering, why is the "You, sir are a racist" card only able to be played by minorities?

I agree with Dave. Racism exists in minorities just as it does elsewhere.

I stopped listening to WLW 4 years ago because of Furman. I will now, tune in to the station again just to see if they replace him with someone who is not a racist!

Dear "Shaun in Queensgate";

You realize that you made the comment"Let's face it behind any comment or joke there is always a chance to get a glimpse at someones true beliefs" -and- the phrase "House N" in the same posting, don't you?

The summer of 1990, "Furball", new to Cincy, dissed the Reds to the point Chris Collingsworthless made him wager his prized Yankee ball cap against a jersey if the Reds won....He showed little sense then with his mouth and I knew the day would come when he swaggered back to NY with a severe furball in his mouth.......oh ya, he never gave up the cap.........I always figured he would end up with a GIANT furball in his mouth...rumor has it, he's related to that Savage idiot, who also doesn't engage the brain before running the mouth...SEE YA "fur ball"......

If you're going to knock someone or try to question their intelligence on the basis of their ability to spell, you should probably make sure that your spelling is without fault. "Rascist are blind..."

its not ok for anyone to be racist. are other race groups racist, but of course. whomever is given the opportunity to be on the airwaves, should take in account others feelings. im sick of caucasions being upset with these people being held accountable. are their other people of other ethnicities being held accountable for their inappropriate dialogue, im sure. racism isnt going anywhere, just be happy whites are in a position of power till the hispanics are the majority, thanks to illegal immigration

I'm a conservative minority and simply said: Racism's unacceptable, period. It doesn't matter what the background of the offender is. Though I believe that the majority of this country hasn't dealt with it's proclivity to discriminate unfairly, I'm glad most rational or sane individuals can agree on the issue of racism.

This is an easy one: If Houshmandzadeh did call Furman "....white boy...", then it's racist and it doesn't matter what nationality he, his wife, mother, or anyone else in his family is. It's ludicrous and illogical to "give him a pass". And he certainly shouldn't have one just because he's a Bengal! ;-) Just kidding... But, seriously, were slave-owners who slept with their female slaves any less a slave-owner?? Of course they weren't.

Not knowing every single detail of this "case": If Furman has a tape, then any reasonably skilled lawyer should, at least, win him a settlement. If he can't produce a tape, then I would tend to doubt his credibility.

Andy Furman a racist??? Seems odd it took so long to find out. Andy is mild compared to Bill Cunningham and the other idiots on WLW. Firing Andy was cowardly at best and stupid at worst. Have not listened to them since. And won't. Lost all respect for the "boys" at WLW when the threw Andy under the bus....their opinions don't count anymore.....plus they seem to intentionally try to divide the community....too much hate on that channel....they fired the wrong guy.

He said every one south of the Mason Dixon line is dumber than people from the North. I'm from Northern Wi. and I find him offensive, and if you listen him more than two minutes he'll give you a headache!
