Its offensive to Matt Ryan to be put in the same boat as Jay Cutler and Tony Romo. Matt Ryan was 10 Yards away from playing in the superbowl. When is the last time cutler or romo even MADE the playoffs?

The falcons have the 24th ranked defense and 29th ranked rushing offense. Which means ryan was forced to win most games this season with his arm, and it worked. The falcons went 13-3, with one of the WORST defenses and running games in the NFL.

Matt Ryan finished TOP 5 in all QB categories this season along with brees, brady, manning and rodgers. And only 13.2 % of his passes were off target which made him the most ACCURATE QB in the NFL in 2012.

Since entering the NFL as the third overall pick in 2008 out of Boston College, Ryan has won 56 regular-season games, the most in a player's first five seasons in NFL history!!!! His .718 winning percentage over the past five seasons trails only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Since his rookie season, Ryan leads the NFL with 23 game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime.

This postseason ryan played against the TOP 2 defenses in the NFL.The same defenses that Brady, Rodgers AND Brees struggled against. In the NFC Championship against the 49ers ryan threw over 400 yards, 3 TDs and completed over 70% of his passes! Against the Seahawks ryan put up more points on them then ANY team has all year.

Matt Ryan has a sorry excuse for a defense, and one of the worst running games in the league which will ALWAYS hold the falcons back no matter how well ryan plays.

Like I said, Ryan does NOT belong in the same category as Cutler or Romo. Its offensive!

No top-tier QB can be labeled as elite until they win their first Super Bowl.

So are you saying Dan Marino is not elite since he never won a superbowl. Are you saying TRENT DILFER is elite since he won a superbowl? Superbowls are not the determining factor in whos elite and whos not. Peyton Manning was considered elite before he won a superbowl. Many average QBs and even BAD QBs have won rings.

I dont believe Ryan is elite YET but I think he is closer to elite then joe flacco and eli manning.

There are only 4 elite qbs and they are

Tom Brady
Peyton Manning
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees

Flaaco is closing in. Both Mannings are in the class. In no specific order:
Tom Brady-SB appearances 5
Peyton Manning--2SB
Aaron Rodgers--1 SB
Eli Manning--2SB
Drew Brees-1SB
Matt Ryan-0 SB
Ben Rothleberger- 3SB
Total SB Appearances = 14
----------
The gimmicks/running QBs
**Kaperdink -0-1 SB loss. Very poor decisions;ie the int in the SB, the 2 pt conversion pass to ties that went to the 3rd row and the final pass on 4th down that went out of the side endzone by 4 yards.
**McNabb--0-1 very poor clock. Mopup TD that made the score look cloer than it was and 1-5 in the NFC Title games
and the college list goes on..........

Marino, in his era, was way ahead of his time with 40 NFL records. Just no defense and never a RB. There are some 1 hit wonders but that is buying into that John Madden krap, "to be great, you must have a ring" Marino is in the top 3 alltime as Unitas, Montana...Brady is there as will be Peyton Manning...The other list is in today's , no touch the WR' GAME WHERE 4000 YARDS IS THE MINIMUM FOR ANY QB and 20-25 TDs. Marino at 24 today would have maybe several 6000 yard seasons imo.

With the right team, Alex Smith can be a top QB. As a Raven supporter during the 28-6 lights out time, I was dreading Smith comming in. He is smart an methodical in getting the team down the field, score, while giving the D arest. Thank you SF-Harbaugh for not putting in Smith. We won!
BTW-Alex was benched in the game he last played, 22-26 passing, 4 TDs.

Trent Dilfer isn't fit to wash Marino's jockstrap, or for that matter even Archie Manning's or Dan Fouts', but yet he sports a SB ring.

"Top Tier" is in no way a reference to Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, etc. Dan Marino was great, no doubt about it, but not elite.

Marino was in a different era as Unitas and today's QBs. He is elite by far--no discussion. Montana played with the deck stacked and no cap. Dallas & SF bought players with fat Eddie Debartalo and the Dallas owner's money. Miami had very cheap owners---Robbies. Unitas drew his plays in the dirt.OK, enuff said......

Marino not Elite? Marino is one if the greatest QBs of all time, just because he doesn't have a ring doesn't change that. Flacco is still not elite, once he shows some more consistency then maybe he can be considered for that conversation.

Eli Manning I don't believe he is elite either. Yes the man has two Super Bowls, but once again consistency is what haunts him. Both Super Bowls wins him and his team road a hot streak in.

Tony Romo is just a joke. He is a good qb indeed but the man had no clutch to him what so ever.

Elite Qbs Right Now
-Peyton Manning
-Tom Brady
-Drew Brees
-Aaron Rodgers

I would be very patient with Flacco; More Flacco and less Rice is needed in Balt. Flacco is tough on the road in the playoffs, 10-0 undefeated(playoffs)...I have seen the worst of Flacco and it can be bad, but he is in yr. 5, 10-0, 1-0 SB. HE HAS THE STRONGEST ARM BESIDES JAY CUTLER IN THE NFL and he can throw the ball throught the uprights, sitting on the 50 yard line, yes--sitting...60 yards and accurate. I think he will only get better and the Ravens better pay the cash or it's Tyrod running Taylor, and we all know what running QBs do when they are hit...they break like a pretzel.

I'm talking about his play. He doesn't always play great like the Manning's and Brady's of the world. He definitely much improved. Looking forward to seeing what he does next season.

Thank God the Falcons picked before us and got Ryan, thank God.
I still wouldn't go as far as calling him elite. Very good yea, but not elite.

Ryan would have atleast 2 superbowl rings if he played for the ravens. Flacco would not have even MADE THE PLAYOFFS if he was put in the situation ryan was put in.

Falcons went 13-3 and 10 yards away from the superbowl with a BOTTOM 10 defense and running game. The falcon rely on ryan to win games wayyyyy more then the ravens rely on flacco

Trent Dilfer was never a "top tier" QB anyhow so why did you bring his name into the mix?

Obviously some people are making comments based on perceptions not reality. Have you ever seen Jay cutler play? No qb compares to him. Very few of his picks are his own fault. Matt Ryan has no killer instinct, some even consider him a choker...but really it is Mike Smiths decisions that kill the falcons. Joe flacco is purely a situational qb who,s only talent is that he is tall. Peyton manning and aaron rodgers are selfish prolific passers who kill their own defenses by hardly using any clock.. and forcing the d to be on the field too much.

Peyton Manning doesn't use clock? Are dumb out just outright retarded? Manning is one of the best clock managers in the game today!

Jay Cutler will never be a consensus elite QB. He has the personality of a block of wood, shyte for brains, and gets rattled far too easily. Win something and the debate can re-open!

Dan Marino is a top ten QB no matter the era.

No you are wrong about so much. Those were not Smith's numbers when he was benched. Alex smith could not move the ball consistently. In case you didn't watch the second half Kaepernick was 5 yards from a trophy.
