College football notebook: NCAA might close Newton loophole | BuckeyeXtra

Now that there are 12 teams in the BigTen and 10 teams in the Big 12 Conference, why don't the two conferences change names? Since when did 10 become 12, and 12 become 10? Must be the new math!!

They already had a rule in place to prevent what happened in Cam Newton's situation. I don't know how many former college athletes that I heard say that they were always told that the parents ARE the kids. Meaning that if the parents violated the rules it was the same as if the student did it.
They just chose to ignore it so that they didn't mess up their title game. Just like they changed the rules to let the Tat5 play in the Sugar Bowl.

A cynic might think there's a one-to-one correspondence between new rules and new loopholes.

A "no comment" from Chip Kelly about the ongoing NCAA investigation of the Oregon football program.
