None of the QB's in the draft are worth a first round pick and especially in the top 10. Manziel is boom or bust. He will not like being forced to stay in the pocket and will throw a lot of int's his first year.An offense built around his movement night work eg the Eagles but not a Norv pocket passing O. Bortles is too inexperienced but has a lot of upside. He needs to sit at least a year and maybe more (like rogers) to learn all the nuances and then he will probably become a good and maybe very good QB. Forget Bridgewater. Think Geno Smith with a weaker arm. Carr is so gun shy it's not funny. He can throw all the 1-15 yard passes he wants from the shotgun but he will never be a good NFL QB as he panics under pressure... just like his brother. That's one of Bortle's best attributes... he moves well in the pocket under pressure and always keeps his eyes downfield. He has a lot of Rothlisberger and Favre in his pocket awareness. His arm strength is above NFL average. I read an article about how some observers felt he threw the ball better in 2012 than 2013 due to some footwork issues. He has worked on them this off season and all scouts at his pro day felt he threw the ball better than at the combine. I think he is the right QB for Norv and the Vikings but I have some misgivings about taking him at 8 as i don't think his upside is any greater than a lot of other QB's coming out next year and there might be a diamond in the rough in someone like Savage. Gilbert, Mettenberger etc. Not a problem if they get him at 8 but a big problem if they feel they have to move down to get him.

<quoted text>Yes there are 3 QB needy teams ahead of us. These teams that are picking ahead of the Vikings IF they all pass on Manziel & take who they think is the best player on the board Then when the Vikings pick comes up Manziel will be the best player on the board. Theres a long list of NFL great QBs that said they wouldn't pass on Manziel. Are they all wrong, does their opinion means nothing here? Manziel is a sophomore a dramatic player with a very high up side. Anyways that's my opinion I think Manziel would fit Turners system Turners likes to throw deep & Manziel throws deep better then any of the QBs in the draft. Look at the QBs Turners had success with Then tell me Manziel dont fit his system.
Manziel doesn't come close in the arm or speed of Vick. I think he will be more injury prone than our last so-called franchise QB.

Hip surgery? No one likes to under the knife so no snarky remark here. Now....about your pick. 2 things...1st, I don't think he lasts until 8...and 2nd, I see Spielman as being gun shy, so he won't pull the trigger on rd 1 QB....at 8.
My guess is Spielman trades down if he can find a partner. The reason being he's stated this is a deep draft, he likes 10 picks AND he's stated there is not sure-fire QB in this draft.
Spielman's track record on QB's is horrible but that is our main need.
