why not just put a red skirt and if the defender pulls it off it's a tackle? no need for flags.
Can't do that, the shirts might be made in NE and won't be "tear-a-ways" when Thomasina has it on, so they can still call roughing the passer. Now if Ben or Joe have it on, it will tear off. Funny how this wasn't an issue in any of the Raven's previous 3 games even though qb's on both teams were getting sacked. This guy is such a freaking pansie. I didn't see Ben complaining when he got sacked 7 times in a game against the Raven's a few years back. he took it like a man. And you wonder why I love pre 80's football. They played the game like real men! Terry Bradshaw would not have been whing like a big baby on a missed tackle.

believe me we are concerned about the 4th quarter collapses. don't have an explanation yet. hopefully it's not a trend. i heard you lost another linebacker to injury. can't remember who it was though. he had a strange sounding name.
thomasina brady. lol! i just call him hop-a-long brady. the refs are going overboard with this crap and the whiny boy brady is constantly looking at the refs for roughing calls. the guy is wuss. what kind of a nancy boy brings his hair dresser to the freekin superbowl? i do believe that would get your ass kicked in pittsburgh or baltimore.
Brendon Ayenbaydejo is a special teams ace who has been doing some good work at LB. I think he is done for the year. Actually, that really is the only player injured other than Gaither and I don't know what his status is. His brain x-rays are negative. I think Joe's back gave him a nice concussion. Gee I am surprised they didn't call a penalty on Gaither for hitting his own qb. Flacco was aksed about the game yesterday and some of the "non calls" against blows to his head. His response was that the "game was a lot of fun and too bad we didn't win". While that was going on, Brady was in the locker room getting his hair done for his NFL Network crying session. Was he on The View today?

It is really a shame that QBs like manning and brady have so much financial pull that they are changing the game for them. it seems the pendulum is swinging too far in one direction and i forsee a fan backlash to all this. hopefully the only thing the nfl fears more than pissing off their sponsors is a massive fan backlash. we saw some pretty pissy calls last year but like people are pointing out...are the refs calling it closer for certain QBs? and how about the new hines ward rule? what a bunch of BS. let em play the game i say there are plenty of young guys waiting in the wings in case of injury.

It is still a contact sport isn't it? My suggestion to the NFL is to take a page out of the NASCAR book and build a safer car. Maybe it's time to look at the players equipment and find a way to make the players safer, yet still mobile enough to play the game.

If you want to have fun, go look at TV sports reporters game reports in Boston today and every one of them is talking about how "lucky" NE was to escape with a win. One local Boston guy on last night's sports report after the game said that if Clayton catches the ball "the Raven's would have surely won the game".

The seemed to be pretty humbled that the Pats didn't win the game, but the Raven's lost it. That's actually something to feel good about in this tough loss.

so next week it's the bungles v ravens. one of the teams will lose. the bengals are an inconsistent team but there is no denying that palmer is a really good QB and they have some very talented receivers; jag-offs true, but no denying they can play football. This game could go down to the wire imo.

I watched the lead up to MNF and Dilfer ran through some of the Roughing that's been called or hasn't this year. I didn't notice, but Flacco got mauled after the ball was out on the play that Gaither got hurt on. Some of the ones he showed from other games this year were also crazy. Not just what was called, but some that wonder how it didn't get called.

Since you don't live here, you couldn't hear all of the interviews yesterday. The Raven's players and coaches are soooooo pissed off. I wouldn't want to be any team playing them this Sunday.

This league is losing a lot of credibility and pretty soon will be right up there with the WWF! You should have heard Fran Tarkington yesterday on (I think espn radio)talking about how "protecting" players has ruined the league. Wish Unitas was alive, he'd tell everyone what a baby Brady is, what a pansie ass. He reminds me of these NBA players who get tapped and then fall down and cry to the ref to call a charge. It's all disgusting!

Imagine the numbers Unitas would have put up had he been protected by the rule book of today. No way is Payton even close to his records if...

penalties, especially in the NBA, the fouls and all the damn time outs create a stoppage of play which really slows down the excitment of the game. I won't even watch regular season NBA games because of this.

Nothing more irritating than watching an NFL game and refs throwing flags 2 or 3 plays in a row.

Hey what is going on "Rob"? I have a question for you ,do you remember when flacco was intercepted? did it or did it not look like the pickers landing foot was out of bounds like right on the line ?

I can not fathom the numbers he would have had under these rules. How many times did Johnny U play with broken bones, nose, fingers, etc. He got punched in the face every time he got sacked. LITERALLY! And so did other qb's of his era. I am just tired of these pansies getting preferential treatment. I have seen it in other NE games this year. I usually never wish that any player gets hurt, but I hope he gets crushed to the ground by someone in a game!

I remember the play, but I don't remember his feet. I am so livid about the game, even today. Look, Clayton needs to catch the damned ball and the game is over. Raven's had opportunities to win and blew it. 4th and 1 and McGahee up the middle. How about McLain? Where was he?

Bottom line is that the Raven's overcame the terrible officiating and still could have won. They didn't, they lost. You have to be excited about the fact that we were in there with 30 seconds to go. I can tell you from watching NE TV, those people all feel "lucky" to have won. Noone up there is gloating, just breathing a sigh of relief.

Funnny how both teams sent there A team, so did CBS and the NFL sent the Dukes of Hazard to officiate.

brady is as big a whuss as these soccer players who fall over and writhe in pain when they get sneezed on.

well anyway the jets showed how you can handle brady, i didn't watch all of your game last week but i think if the secondary had stepped up a bit it would have been different. you can't pin it all on the last dropped ball. there were many missed plays that got to them to that point.

I am very unforgiving of multi- millionaires playing a game. Clayton needs to catch that ball, no excuses! Its an easy catch. It's like you or me doing our job and messing up the easiest thing we do. If the ball was thrown three feet over his head in the end zone and he made an incredible effort and missed, I can deal with that. QB hits you in the numbers with no one touching you, YOU catch it! I played the position, though certainly not in the NFL, but the pressure was just as intense at my age, at my level at the time and I never dropped anything that hit me in the chest.

That's the biggest problem with the Orioles, because NO ONE holds them to any high standards, so when they screw up something simple that is T-ball realted, everyone makes excuses for them.

not saying he shouldn't have caught it. other players shouldn't have wiffed on blocks, missed tackles etc. like i said, didn't watch the whole game but I did see ray lewis totally whiff on a tackle as the rb ran right past him. athletes make errors all the time. the really good ones make the easy plays though. our TE heath miller has something like a 89% completion stat this season. the dude is a human football vacuum. but...he still drops a ball no and then. can't remember him whiffing like clayton did though.

I have never seen Todd Heap drop a ball that hit him right in the chest. Just haven't seen it. I'll admit, I am no Clayton fan. He was billed as this big time, quick receiver and it's just never happened. Big time receiver is Mason. Guy plays with one arm last year and still makes big time catches. Now he is an NFL receiver.
