There are 8 comments on the NFL story from Feb 16, 2012, titled Cap Casualty Season. In it, NFL reports that:

This is the time of year many NFL veterans dread. It's when that contract that looked so appealing just a few years ago -- in an era where nothing is fully guaranteed in this league -- suddenly becomes much less palatable.

Wimbley likely gone
Huff likely gone
Curry should stay
Kelly should stay
McClain...I think his trial may determine his status

I like Wimbley too, but his salary alone will get us even with the cap. He should have some trade value so I'd shop him around before just letting him go. I like Curry too and would rather keep him because is salary is not as much and would be easier to restructure. It may have been a good idea moneywise to let Seymour go, but he earned the 15 million that he's due this season and his veteran leadership would definatly be missed. However, the more you let go, the more you're gonna have to replace and when you are thin on draft picks, it may be a better choice to let go as few as possible.

Didn't make sense to let go of Seymour. He was guaranteed it was either let him go and lose 7.5 or keep him for 7.5 more. Thsts a no brainer.

word is that if we do go 3-4, that (de)lammar houston may not be suited for it. so, that makes him good trade bait. i say lammar houston is a baddass dude! but if he does not fit the line, it is tough to keep him around. there are players that adjust to other positions and wishfully thinking, i wish we could find a spot for him.

I hope they can keep Wimbley. I think he's still got it. Maybe not the greatest season last year but he's still good.......maybe not 11 Mil good, though LOL.
