Oakland Raiders handling Terrelle Pryor correctly

Mar 2, 2013 Full story: NFLSpinZone 17

The Oakland Raiders, especially head coach Dennis Allen, are very high on backup quarterback Terrelle Pryor , and there is a chance that the 23-year-old won't be a backup much longer.

Giving him a chance to start gives us a chance to change up the off with Greg Olsen. Hopefully this also takes pressure off the Dec line and we won't play from behind and make pyror a red zone threat.

they should have used him after they found out they weren't going to be in the playoffs this year

We need to trade Carson for draft picks and give terrele the ball...but i don't mind if Carson is our quarterback on opening day

I think Palmer might be the better option for now. Especially since we are getting rid of the zone blocking scheme now. Let's see what he can do when he doesn't have to throw the ball 50 times a game.

We have all said this before and basically agreed with each other. Only the newbies and fairweather fans are calling for Pryor. The really logical Raider fans understand what Carson did for us last season and want to give him another year.

I forget who said this, but i heard it on NFL network once: "The most popular guy on a losing team is the backup QB".

Unless they plan on playing Pryor on defense,we need to let this guy sit, mature, stay healthy and learn some more. Nothing wrong with taking your time and perfecting some things before you are thrown into the meat grinder of the nfl.

Palmer is our best bet right now just the int needs to go down and with this off cord i think it will happin i think some fans are to quick to jump to pryor but look at palmers numbers from last season from going off the couch and then throwing for over 4000 yards yea hes the man we need at QB

with our cap situation and we are trying to build through the draft we could get draft picks for Carson while he still has value...we need to make tough choices. I say trade him and give terelle a shot

I agree that palmer is still capable of being a winning qb in this league, however we really don't know what we have In pryor. I mean his athletic ability is there.... Never know ...#starttp6

People are so god damn blind! Palmer throws into double coverage he cost us a couple games with that BS. Like an example buccaneers game, we needed 1 more TD to catch up and win and he throws a pick....WTF!!!!! Carson Palmer has to go. Hes not athletic very slow and hes old

well, with all respect to those who don't like palmer. if those who like palmer are blind, than why are the coaches and general manager trying to keep palmer? why try to start palmer over terrelle pryor? i guess the people that like palmer are as blind as the coaches. i don't think terrelle pryor is going to make those mistakes that palmer made, do you? or those of you who like terrelle pryor? trust me, i hope pryor does turn out to be a decent (qb). but would i start him over carson palmer? no!. now, you may get your wish if money is the issue and palmer doesn't take a pay cut but clearly, palmer should start over t pryor. you see one game from t pryor and just cause you may not like carson palmer you automatically believe he should be the starter?(lol), not even terrelle pryor is shure of himself yet. he's "willing to be ready", who would say no? thats why pryor paid and was getting trained by three other coaches. cause he knows he wasn't ready. that's why the coaches from hue jackson to dennis allen haven't started him. the situation where they may have to start him is here. and you know what? if it turns out that way? so be it. without carson palmer? sure i wish pryor the best.

Simple fact. Pryor isn't ready! I LOVE having this guy on our team and literally dance a little jig when we picked him in the supplemental draft. Plus, Pryor showed some great athleticism and leadership in week 17 for us last season.

DO NOT put the entire damn team on his back right now. He just isn't ready and we don't have the supporting cast around him. He is likely to get injured, demoralized or stop developing if we simply throw him to the wolves.

And besides, QB play was our strongest position last season(outside of Fullback) so you all need to get off Palmer's back. Sure the cap scenario comes into play but this is just stupid. Palmer stays, Pryor learns on the bench and fills in if he gets hurt. From his statements Pryor even LIKES Palmer and the things he is teaching him. Pryor just doesn't understand the passing game yet.

Palmer is the best qb we have had in a long time. If not, ever. That said if the trade value is right and Pryor fits where we are heading. I am not opposed to the idea of trading, pending what we get for him. May not be the best move but I would understand it.

Palmer is definitely the best we've had since Gannon, but I think we need him at least another year if not until we have the guy that we know is the QB of the future.
