to be honest with you all, i just want to hear from reggie mckenzie say he will bring back the "oakland RAIDERS" back. there is no "commitment to excelence" talk. no, "just win baby" no heart and soul here! the closest we came to that was dennis allen saying "we will try to bring back the glory days of the oakland RAIDERS". that showed me respect but yet, i don't believe d allen is the right coach here. i'm tired of this "green bay way" thing. we are THE SILVER AND BLACK! NOT green and gold! maybe you can win some respect with the crowd that is not on your side, saying those simple words. do it your way, fine. but keep or stuff the green thing inside yourself. even if you hired and fired all the right and wrong coaches and players. just say you are doing it for the
"RAIDERS"!

this new direction means, lonnnng haul, with no playoffs for a few yrs, and a shhh-load of frustrations for me.
most of you are happy with the new direction right?
i mean, it's cool, i'm just an odd person with traditional RAIDER ways and maybe that's whats wrong with me. i don't have anything against your opinions of this team's direction and (gm) mckenzie and dennis allen and his coaching staff and the way they are doing things for the future of the RAIDERS winning ways.
after all, i don't have a choice right? and to top it off, i don't have the patience you guys have.(lol), you probably ask, how did i have patience for a decade of 4-12 and 5-11 seasons under al davis? well, for me, it was the fact that we had famous" known players and coaches that made it interesting for hope for the next season after next season for a decade. today? today we don't know anybody! we know sparano? we knew mckenzie! and what few players we had left. so this direction means a little more than it did to me last season. there is at least a little more hope for a couple of more wins. depending on the players that will be added and the new coaches that just boarded ship. NOW!, we are familiar with most of the team =)
maybe that's what my problem is?
=(
(LOL), i have issues don't I?

Well, there was the Packers of the 60s, The Steelers of the 70s, The 49ers of the 80s, and the Cowboys of the 90s...Throughout that time the team with the highest winning percentage was the Raiders and that was the team most opponents feared most. We struggled in the 90s with several 8-8, 7-9, and 9-7 records plus a 4-12 record and only 3 playoff appearances and in those seasons our records were 12-4, 9-7, and 10-6. Jon Gruden came along in 1998 and seemed to implement a modern football scheme and by 2000 had us back in the playoffs as division champions. We had the team that was easily capable of winning it all but Rex Ryan (and possibly the NFL officials) put a bounty on Rich Gannon and Tony Siragusa collected it. The next year we had things going our way again and knew we were the team to beat because Gruden had us going in the right direction and were once again the most feared team in the NFL. Then he became the famed "Chucky" image and then we all found out what the "F*ck" rule was. It was more than evident that "Chucky" was the new image of the Raiders and it was a little more than Al Davis could handle and Chucky was dealt away. The first season post Chucky nobody noticed a difference and there we were in FINALLY in the Superbowl. Coinsidently there was "Chucky" coaching the other team...Some say that our new coach threw the game, others say that "Chucky" had our playbook memorized because he wrote it (and even played QB on scout teams as they prepared for it)...either way "Chucky"'s new team beat us play for play move for move and gave Tampa Bay their first ever championship. For seven seasons after that, it was crystal clear that Al Davis's days were done and the Raiders then became the laughing stock of the NFL. They made bad coaching choices, took bad draft picks, and even overpaid some veterans that either quit on us or who's days were numbered. In 2010, things started to look a little different in a good way as we drafted a first round pick that nobody questioned and went on to finish the season 8-8. We followed up with another 8-8 season, but Al Davis passed during the early to mid season. The Al Davis era officially came to an end and the Raiders were truly headed in a new direction.

Now the new regime is here and we had a bad season as the new regime worked to get things their way on the business side of things. Now we have a few more draft picks to work with so I hope to get back around the .500 mark next year and the year after hopefully we will see positive results.

Tex, you'd make a good professor for a Raiders History class.

As far as what the new direction means to me, I think we are finally going in a new direction for the first time since1963. Gruden was living proof that Davis's best days were gone. Gruden was a temporary new direction, but Davis couldn't accept Gruden's ways. I'm just very interested in how it will all turn out

yep, i've said it before a while back, TEX. can write! and i've also complimented him on remembering all these past RAIDER players. well, except one of my somewhat favorite player bill pickell (lol). but, you a baddass dude T_RAIDER!
only, i don't agree with all you mckenzie dennis allen lovers!(lol), but, because they are my RAIDERS as well, hell yeah i hope they turn out great. i still want mckenzie to talk about "HIS" RAIDERS and not his packers. trust me, that would make a world of difference to me and the RAIDER nation who don't care for him. d allen earned some points for his "RAIDERS back to glory statement". THAT, showes commitment!

Bill Pickel is quite an interesting player...He really only had one notable season, but what's crazy about it was that he was first team All Pro that year, but not a Pro Bowler.

You do make a good point about Reggie McKenzie...He has yet to acknowledge the Raiders as His team despite the fact that he played for them. Somehow I've got a feeling that McKenzie wasn't proud to play for the Raiders.

Looks to me like the raiders a hiring a bunch of retread coaches from a bunch of equally losing teams.
