I think Soma is great....but you also have several others on this team headed for big places...it isn't just a Soma thing. Why can the TS ever mention these other players? Why doesn't the news channels mentions these other players? Do you know Sharp and Mahoravich are possibly heading to D-1 schools? Do you know that Faulk is already being looked at by Stanford, UCLA, Berkley, and he's an 11th grader? All three of these boys are legit, actually have grades and can handle the big time. It truely is dismal to me that we are so starved for news that we become blind to the bigger picture. TS, look at a broader scope, see the big picture...It takes a team, not just one player to win the championship.
Good job guys, GO LOGGERS |

Fortuna's coaching staff did a very poor job getting them ready for Eureka. The team didn't even look like they wanted to play. They have gone downhill since the Ferndale game, time for a change.

Too much time spent Hunting eh?

it is like clockwork. when the going gets tough the weak minded make excuses, whine, complain and.................

Faulk is a good kid and great athlete. There is no way that he's going to any of the schools you mentioned unless it's for academic purposes though. |
Sorry, but I gotta defend the TS on this one. The story mentioned the ENTIRE offensive line and about five other kids OTHER THAN Soma, who admitted he had the BEST GAME OF HIS CAREER. Now, if you can't see how a kid running for 300 yards isn't the focus of the story, then you're just being selfish. Mohorovich has gotten plenty of pub in the paper (remember how hard it is to point out the play of a defensive lineman who doesn't get a lot of sacks) and the TS did a special graphic in the paper today that had Faulk's name and picture in it. You're right, Faulk is having a very good year, but it's just not nearly the year Soma is having. Soma has 22 fricking touchdowns! In 10 games! The way you guys are if Faulk got any more pub (he is related to the TS editor James Faulk) you guys would rip them for that. They can't win Faulk's gonna get his headlines. When he's senior. Just wait. |
And obviously you would know. Yeah right. By the way, he is getting the looks by those schools mentioned. When you test as high as he does at combines, you get attention. The only thing that will hold him back is his height. When your a 230 lbs high school junior linebacker who runs a legit 4.6 forty, your going have D-1 potential, especially with the grades he gets. |

Congratulations to the Eureka team, they deserve to be league champions. They have obviously been hitting the weight room. There starting backfield is bigger than almost all of the Fortuna offensive line. Last night was a matter of physiscs not coaching, the team with the bigger faster players won the game, that is usually the case in high school football. Eureka will be very competitive in the playoffs this year as will Fortuna and Ferndale when the are all playing schools in their own size classification. Hopefully the people in charge of the seeding meetings will give the local teams the respect they deserve.

With local high school sports starved for funds, why don"t Ferndale and Eureka play an exhibition game when the season is over? Charge $10 a ticket and the redwood bowl would be sold out! Profits would support athletics at both schools.

the redwood bowl charges a ton of money for thier facility-find somewhere else
you obviously don't know what you are talking about. A couple weeks ago at practice he got 2 letter from LSU for football |
I don't know the Faulk kid at all. Have know idea if he is D1 material, but do you know how many players get letters from schools? It is quite common. I bet Soma has literally hundreds of them. Getting 2 letters from LSU does not mean you are automatically going to get a D1 scholarship. |

I think the whole Eureka High Football squad played fantastic last night. This whole debate about Faulk is not called for. Our family has known the Faulk family for a long time and Faulk is an amazing kid and athlete, there is no doubt in our mind that he will attend a Division I school because theres so much talent there. We get that Soma gets alot of media attention over some of his teammates but I just hope that people know that Soma wants nothing more but to see his fellow teammates succeed and go on to the next level. Now its time to prepare for playoffs so Go Loggers!!

F.Y.I Soma was getting scouted by many schools when he was a junior too! I hope Faulk goes Divison I because he's a great athlete but its Soma's senior year and Faulk still has another year to play. Next year all you'll hear about is Faulk but for this moment its Soma. Basically the Eureka football squad is stacked and all around good so why fuss over one news article? Go Loggers and here's to playoffs! |
Well put Ana. It's just another topic for Eureka haters to hate on. |
Here we go with the ferndale talk again. Don't you people have anything better to do. They will probably never play each other, and rightfully shouldn't. Soma gets all the attention because he is the biggest and baddest player in the HDN since the likes of Rey Maualuga and Maurice Purify. Soma is the same caliber player as the previous two mentioned. All he has to do is take care of school. Jeff Faulk is a animal. Period. Its playoff time loggers. Thats what you live for. Go get em. |
Yeah, Ferndale got all they could handle today from Mack. Ferndale won 27-13, but needed a touchdown at the end to put the game away. |
If you only knew who I was...Man, no diss on your boy, but I know what's what, and Faulk is not. |
You have no idea how the NCS is percieved among all of the other sections in CA. You have to put up Hoffman-like numbers to get noticed by anyone, and Faulk is nowhere close.
Eureka deserves this win. Fortuna did not prepare for Eureka, Coaching staff is held responsible. Maybe you should try something other than being so predictable game in and game out! And how about throwing that Veer out the window! It sucks!
