Redskins star says dogfighting is OK

Clinton Portis is a jerk. I love pitbulls and I have one that is very loving. How dare him say that it is OK to dog fight. I would like to see him put in a room with some fighting pitts. That would make me happy, that wimp. I no longer like the Washington Redskins.

Portis should never speak in public without a prior approved script.....dog fighting prevalent?...did Portis just jump off the pumpkin wagon?
1)Very sad to say, but Portis did NOT just jump off the pumpkin wagon. He was speaking the truth about dog fighting. It IS prevalent and he, unfortunately gave us DEEP insight as to WHY. It IS accepted and promoted, in almost every single city in America. The cops often turn their heads. They tell us dog fighting is 'too difficult to detect.' YET, in cities where there is breed specific legislation, they go door to door, peeping in windows, cutting locks off of fences to seize and destroy family pets that resemble pit bulls.
2) to any of you who said that dog fighting is not as bad as 'this' or as 'that': Which is worse? To kill your wife, your mother, or your child? To condone or defend or ignore ANY action because it is not as 'bad' as another, is an ethical and moral fallacy.
What is wrong, immoral, disgusting and unhuman is wrong, immoral, disgusting and unhuman.

Oohh, what a narrow-minded reason to dislike an entire football team for-all because one guy expressed his opinion, however unpopular it may be. Like that has anything to do with football anyway. And though I don't think it was a good idea for Portis to say anything that he did, especially with the way in which he said it, there still is some validity to what he's saying. Think about it. Every item or thing that we as humans pay for we pretty much consider to be our property. Because it is our property, we believe it is our given right to do what we want with it. Michael Vick and Clinton Portis think they should be able take their "property" and put them in fights against one another. And though I would never even think about putting my dog in a fight, or anything similarly dangerous to that, since I actually care about my dog, it is not so much the fighting that bothers me. What bothers me is the executions that these dogs had to suffer through, and the inhumanity that it would take carry those executions out. At least in the fighting, the dogs are able to defend themselves and fight each other, since that's pretty much what they're brought up to do. But to kill them slowly just because they're not fit, or whatever the reason was, just takes an inhumanity that I can't even fathom. But what Clinton Portis thinks of dog fighting has nothing to do with the sport of football or how his team is going to perform come Sunday.

What a beautiful picture of the black culture. Many whites have been telling people the black urban culture is ignorant and savage. But no the white man is racist. Well, just read the words of the defenders of Vick. What a bunch of fools. For those who defend the black culture, way to go that is what you get. I and many like me hope you enjoy what the culture brings you.

Michael Vick Knew dogfighting was going on and he was in the middle of it. This Guy keeps getting into trouble for something stupid every year. Maybe he's just plain stupid. And as far as these other idiots that think dogfighting is ok then they're just as stupid and ignorant as Vick is. Maybe they should round up all these idiots put them in a cage with about 10 pit bulls and see who comes out alive.

Whether you or your son like it or not there are laws in the US which are created for the safety and welfare of it's citizens. Dog fighting is associated w/ many other crimes like drugs and illegal gambling. I would venture to say your son did not claim as income any of his dog fighting winnings on his tax return. People who evade taxes create a larger tax bill for the lawabiding public. Dog fighting and other forms of animal cruelty desensitize people to violence. Anyone who thinks dogfighting is okay has a few screws loose or totally missing. As for the animal cruelty laws being "barbaric" how can anyone say dog fighting is not barbaric. Your son is extremely lucky if all he gets is probation. And seriously you do need to leave God out of this argument like a few previous posters have said.
